This was a surprise birthday trip for my wife and from the moment we met Sebastian at the pier in Esperanza I new it was going to be fantastic. After a short dinghy ride to the Shalamar we met Paul the First mate. Paul was super nice and more than accommodating taking pictures of us and whipping up some really good rum punches. Once everyone was on board Sebastian gave us some safety tips and a very interesting history lesson on Shalamar. The real fun begins when you leave the harbor though. Sebastian will take you out to the swells where you can ride the waves on the bow pulpit and just absorb the blue water and the wind in your face. We then dropped anchor and swam/snorkeled for a bit after which we were treated to a wonderful lunch. All along plenty of rum punch and Medalla Light were provided. Sebastian, Paul and Shalamar were absolutely fantastic! The only regret was not booking the entire day! I'll save that for the return trip to Vieques! Also, swing by El Blok and catch Paul behind the bar, it was a pleasant surprise to see his face there later that day. Thanks guys for a great day!

The #1 thing to do in Isabel, according to Trip Advisor! Four-hour and full-day sailing trips off the north shore of Vieques aboard a sweet 30' Freedom sloop. A comfortable sailboat, she is fast and has a self tacking jib which does not require adjusting lines for the front sail, so we won't be asking you to move for sail adjustments. Four hour charters include a stop for a guided snorkel tour at the unsurpassed Cayo Blanco. A recent guest told us that he's snorkeled Hawaii, Tahiti and the Great Barrier Reef, but that THIS was the best snorkeling he has seen! A charter with SeaVieques includes snacks, the world's best pina coladas, and an open bar. Full day trips allow more flexibility and the possibility of more than one snorkeling stop. Come out with us and let us take you to a reef that is ONLY accessible by boat...Get your money's worth! Come see the best snorkeling on Vieques, with a knowledgable guide on a beautiful sailboat! Please be aware that the captain reserves the right to cancel trips due to bad weather or poor snorkeling conditions. Bareboat charters also available.
Excellent experience sailing and snorkeling, Captain Judi and Ramon were very hospitable! Knowledgeable about Vieques and it's Marine life. My children really enjoyed themselves snorkeling. My daughter was nervous but with the kindness of Capt. Judi as a snorkeling buddy, she got to experience snorkeling with ease and excitement. My son loved sailing on her boat plus seeing all the marine life around Cayo Blanco.
Thank you Captain Judi and Ramon!

We offer several sailing and snorkeling cruises including half day, full day, sunset, Sunday brunch, private and customized trips to make your Vieques vacation even more memorable. All of our excursions include meals, beverages and an open bar. "The best way to see Vieques is aboard Marauder!"
My wife and two adult children had a great time during this excursion. It was very relaxing, fun and we felt a bit spoiled. Thank you for help making our trip to Vieques that much more memorable! Would HIGHLY recommend Marauder Sailing Charters to anyone visiting this beautiful island.

Vieques National Wildlife Refuge and all visitor facilities is closed due to impacts from Hurricane Irma. Refuge closures include all hiking trails, boat ramps, fishing access, and other recreational use on refuge lands. The closure remains in effect until the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service assesses storm damage and has determined it is safe for visitor access.
It's a long beach, probably one of the longest on the island, with many different places to swim at. It's definitely not the place to go bodysurfing, if that's what you're looking for. There's supposedly a reef on the right side of the island of the coast.
Overall, this is a float in the water kind of beach, it's shallow for a long time, but the waves will pick you up and down, not a place to learn to swim.

This company went well beyond the call of duty! We booked a bike tour with Vieques Adventure Company but got so much more. The tour leaders were outstanding guys, friendly, knowledgeable and resourceful! Tyler, the owner was extremely responsive and even though we only booked a bike tour with him, he tried to make sure our stay in Vieques was great in every way he could by helping us find accommodations, car rentals, restaurant recommendations, and even recommendations for other tours and tour operators for things that they did not offer. I can't say enough great things about this company and all the guys who work there; they are professionals in every sense. And by the way, the bike tour was a BLAST and a not-to-be-missed activity when in Vieques!!

Well... It's not what it used to be. Most palm trees in the pictures are gone. Also many of the Cabanas have been destroyed. How beautiful it must have been 6 months ago. Because still it is a very beautiful place to have been. It's all cleaned up and only a 15 minute cab ride away from the ferry landing. White beach. Very few people around. Easy for the kids near the edges and bigger waves in the center. Park closes at 4 pm so get there early to enjoy it all.

We visited on a new moon night recently, after having been last year on a night with a moon. While the glow is not yet a real "glow" (steady, blueish light) that blew us away last visit, you could see plenty of sparkles when paddling, looking at the clear bottom of the kayak, and especially splashing with your hand. The stars were gorgeous, you could see the Milky Way. Given the colder conditions and new growth happening after Maria, I expect this will be getting better and better as the months go on. Still absolutely worth a visit now - especially if you've never seen a bio bay before, this is still magical!

Don't you just love the caption "pearls in a sapphire sea", and sure enough on arrival This area boasts the same. Known affectionately as the Spanish Virgins, its edged by silky sands dissolving into waters of Lapis Lazuli.
Its far from the maddening crowds, well, from Mainland crowds, at least with life moving at a languid pace. In fact the Vieques are so laid-back as to be the perfect place to get 'wrecked'. Its a beach maven's haven tempting us visitors with guest houses tucked into sandy coves fringed with coral reefs. Not being singularly eco tourists, we were floored by the wildlife in all its colour and variety.
January is warm and sunny, cloudless, dazzlingly deep blue skies make being outdoors a joy, beckoning like a siren's call. After checking in to our hotel, we went sight seeing to sleepy Isabela Segunda and visited the lighthouse and Fort Conde Mirasol, housing the Vieques Art and History Museum, accompanied with a picnic hamper of cheese, cold cuts and chewy crusty bread for an alfresco spread on nearby Bravos de Boston beach
Second day, we engaged Captains Ron and Kathy for a thrilling four hours out on the briny. Plenty of outstanding scenery on this Puerto Rico's panoramic coast as well as some tasty lunch goodies eaten under the shade cloth. We scampered in the sparkling water like little rug-rats and left plenty of wake as we languidly snorkelled and swam in the warm waters. the atmosphere on board is moucho friendly with everyone at top socialising capacities. The captains work effortlessly to ensure maximum comfort and conviviality. We rated this a top notch outfit.
Can one have more Sunshine? you bet...later in the afternoon we headed to Esperanza to soak up the laid back tropical charm of this village, where we strolled through Calle Flamboyan, a place we ended every day, meeting and greeting the local fish community. Later, showered and refreshed we lingered over a sunset dinner and a copious amount of rum cocktails at Bananas.
Third day was a cycling day along off-road trails into the rugged wildlife refuge with the afternoon reserved for relaxing at Green Beach exploring the mangroves at laguna Kiani. That night we went on an excursion, gliding in kayaks across Phosphore Scent Bay, slipping into the ink-black waters to spark a ghostlike green silhouette as we swam amid billions of dinoflagellates creating an unbelievable vista of shiny green bursts of light.
Our last day was spent via ferry to to nearby Culeubra to laze at Playa Flamingo, the most sensational beach in Puerto Rico. This is big surf territory, so we hiked over to Playa Carlos Rosario which had a fabulous off-shore reef, teeming with chromatic fish.
PS. Time your visit to Phosphore Scent Bay at the new moon phase because during a full moon its difficult to see the phosphorescence clearly..... and remember, too much rum makes for a listless day- after.
