Visit at least 3 times a year and never fails to provide a great meal out.
We had the best prawn cocktails ever with Tuna Algarve and Piri Piri Chicken, great carafe of Vinho Verde and sat watching a bunch of English guys battling with the popular sea snails

A little off the beaten track, but you'll find it was well worth the effort after enjoying our food.Outside dining in the summer months.Vegetarian and childrens menu available.Main courses between 7.50 - 12 euros.Daily specials of starters and maincourse.Homemade desserts,or call in for a nightcap and delicious homemade dessert on your way home.....
We visited here on one of our first nights in Cabanas and we wern't disappointed. It was very busy outside and very warm but the owner helpfully took another table outside for us, whuch was great. We shared a starter of prawns piri piri and had fish curry and tuna and washed it down wirh some water and a bottle of the house wine. Everything was spot on and the service was with a smile. There's many places in Cabanas but i would recommend you give this a go. There are a few dishes (rabbit etc) that you need to order in advance but the menu is big enough. Prices excellent - especially the house wine which was around €5. Sadly we could only fit in one visit during our holiday but would looking forward to returning.

My partner and I chose this well-recommended local restaurant for our final meal in Cabanas. We both had the delicious fish soup and this was followed in my case by grilled sardines (6) with chips and salad. My partner had lamb chops (7) with chips and salad. The portions were certainly generous, well-cooked and delicious. We also had a half bottle of the excellent house red wine. Service was friendly and good and we were made to feel very welcome. The restaurant was centrally located in Cabanas and on my next trip I will definitely return.

A portuguese traditional restaurant where you can eat the famous and tasty Sopa do Mar (Ocean Soup), inside the traditional portuguese bread. This soup tastes like ocean. Is really a must, when you go to Algarve. Complement your lunch with the delicious Octopus pastry. Delicious! The restaurant environment and the staff, is what you can expect from a traditional portuguese restaurant. Sympathy and happiness from the people.

O' Escalho was our introduction to breakfast in Portugal( even if the Anglo influences are there), and it did not disappoint,
Lovely array of pastries and cakes which are freshly made and well cooked. Good sized portions of food, and not cheap quality either, despite the price being very good. Staff were also very attentive and friendly. We visited this cafe for breakfast four times out of seven days in the Algarve and enjoyed it every time.

We have visited this back street restaurant 4 times already this month. Food is superb, whether it's pizza, pasta, steak or seafood all dishes are tasty and hearty. Staff are always busy and running around but when they get a moment they are always willing to have a chat and enhance your evening. You are made to feel more than just a customer, the Portuguese staff offer excellent customer service.

It is on the quay side. Small and a favourite of ours. Owned by two sisters - Julia is M'd - wonderful host. Lunch/tourist menu is excellent value.
It took us two attempts to find this highly-recommended restaurant - perhaps because there is no signage outside. We should have realised, however - the tables outside this quite small restaurant on the riverside just past the Mercado da Ribeira were packed, while the considerably larger restaurants on either side were virtually empty. And if that was not a good enough clue, the clincher was the redoubtable owner Julia holding court among her customers and exchanging repartee with passers-by.
It was so good that though we originally planned to eat at a different restaurant each night during our stay in Tavira, we returned to A Barquinha for our final meal. On both occasions the food was delicious, the service impeccable and the welcome truly friendly. Julia has the gift of making you feel like an old friend, and her advice on what to order is sound...she does her best to cater to what you want rather than what she wants to sell.
On our first visit I ordered veal with mushrooms - really tasty - and for our farewell meal had the Golden Bream recommended by Julia. It was superb - as was the delicious salad served before the main course. I know it seems odd to rave about a salad, but as other reviewers have noted, it really is special!
Four main courses, one dessert, a bottle of wine and three beers came to just 68€. What a treat!

This is a lovely restaurant a bit off the beaten track in Cabanas, but worth seeking out. It's motto is "fun food and friendship" and that pretty well sums it up! We spend a lot of time in Cabanas and frequent the Jolly a lot. The food is,, we think, the best in Cabanas (the fish pie is to die for) and Eddie and Lily provide friendly, attentive service. There's a nice outside patio for outdoor eating in the warm weather and a very nice, atmospheric interior. It's particularly hand if you're staying in Conceicao as it is half the walk down to the seafront. Give it a try (I've no connection to this place, just don't understand why nobody else has reviewed it on this website).
Would have liked to have tried this restaurant but on arrival we stood waiting for at least 10 minutes whilst there only seemed to be one girl who was manning the bar and taking meals out, I tried to ask if they had a table for 2 which seemed likely as there were a few empty, she said wait then ignored us so we left and, needless to say, won't be returning! It's so easy to communicate with customers even when busy......

Great location, right on the front. Nice staff, who are very attentive and seem happy/smiling.
I went for salad starters and on both occasions they were both fresh, packed with flavour and thoroughly enjoyable. I did pizza first time and pasta the second time and both visits were worth it.
Whilst pizzas might be simple food, they're also easy to mess up, but these were consistently wonderful.
