Godalming /ˈɡɒdəlmɪŋ/ is a historic market town, civil parish and administrative centre of the Borough of Waverley in Surrey, England, 4 miles (6 kilometres) SSW of Guildford. A tranquil hillside arboretum created by Dr Wilfred Fox in the early twentieth century, now cared for by the National Trust. Open 363 days a year with stunning botanical displays all year round.
Winkworth Arboretum is a nice place to visit but I`d hate to have to shell out the full cost...luckily we are both National Trust for Scotland members, so got in free. The car park entrance needs some attention and the toilets are very much in need of a makeover. The walks are pleasant and the views are lovely. Labels on the trees could do with being larger.
As we both walk in the countryside very regularly, the arboretum was strangely underwhelming for us...probably because we know plenty of lovely woodlands which don`t require payment or NT/NTS membership to visit!

This was the most perfect location for a wedding we attended last weekend. The Gardens, rooms and facilities were exceptional. The food was wonderful and the staff made this the most memorable day for the happy couple and all those who were there to share their special day. A real treat!

Be prepared to be moved, this is no ordinary tour. The Spike in Guildford is unique, the last remaining of over 600 in the country with its stone-breaking/wood-chopping cells showing how you could have paid for a night's kip. Ever picked Oakum? Find out how. Open on Tuesdays and Saturdays only, tours start at 10a.m. and finish 4p.m., taking approximately 90 minutes, including a short film. £6.00/5.00. Groups can book in any day for a minimum charge of £45.00, please call to arrange. We can make your day very memorable and provide luncheon/refreshments. Evening tours and Parties catered for. Parking is free.
One of the best kept secrets (sadly) in Guildford. I can recommend a visit to all generations both local, and visitors, to Guildford. We had a personal tour of the Spike. Humbled by the life our descendants endured and brought to life by our guide John and the accurate restoration of the building. The Spike is now top my list of local places of interest. Thank you

Busbridge Lakes is a grade 2 Heritage garden in Surrey renowned for its follies, grottos and magnificent specimen trees and the home to one of the largest collections of water birds in the country. Busbridge Lakes is open to the public on select dates and available for hire as a stunning unique venue for a wedding reception, club and corporate events. The marquee is sited on the main lawn overlooking the Canal lake.
Spectacular location near Godalming in Surrey. The photo opportunities are great and there are literally hundreds of species to see. This venue is restricted in terms of how often it can be open as they house rare breeds which can't be stressed. It was quite challenging to find! Reasonable priced light refreshments and friendly and efficient staff. We will certainly visit again.

A little difficult to find in the heart of Surrey countryside this is a delightful example of how life was in the mid-19th century. A friendly knowledgeable guide is available to convey all sorts of snippets of information. It is located next to a cricket green and a village Post Office / General Store which also sells refreshments.

This mill was brought to life by our guide taking us through the life of the mill and the miller. A really great visit and great volunteers! A must see if you are in the area.

St Peter's appears to be a Victorian village church from the outside. When you step through the door the interior paintings are breathtaking - reminiscent of Byzantine/Russian Orthodox. It is actually a reflection of the Oxford Movement of the mid1800s. Stories from the Bible are reflected all around the church and the stained glass is also incredibly detailed. There is lots to discover and having a local guide does help. Well worth a visit if only to admire the craftsmanship.

Welcome to the famous Hogs Back Brewery,Surreys largest independent brewery. We are a small craft brewery based in Surrey situated just north of the A31 Hogs Back road between Guildford and Farnham. We are open to the public for Brewery Tours most days of the week and weekends, but we can be flexible to suit individual tour group requirements so please contact us to check availability. Our brewery Shop and Off License is situated on the premises, we not only supply our own fine ales in both draught and bottled, but literally hundreds of other bottled beers from around the world. From notable Belgian beers to almost unknown types from South America to China and, don’t forget a big variety from many small UK Breweries. Pay us a visit...you’re bound to find something new!
Unfortunate we didn’t do the tour as we went to buy some strong festive beer for Xmas. My word I didn’t know where to start, what a choice both British beers and those from further afield including those from Belgium, one I bought was 11% so shall sip that one slowly. The guys serving were very knowledgeable and helpful, excellent place.

Containment is a fun, challenging live escape game just outside Guildford, Surrey. Designed for groups of 4 - 6 people. With 3 rooms running you can pick the challenge that most appeals. We lock you up in a themed room, and give you exactly 60 minutes to get out. In order to beat the live escape game you and your team must solve cryptic puzzles, complete physical challenges and identify clues. Can you and your team work together to escape the rooms?
