Mismaloya comes from Nahuatl: [michmaloyan] "place where they grab fish with their hands" and is a small village, located on the coast of the Bahía de Banderas in the Mexican state of Jalisco [Xalixco] "on the surface of the sand".

Paddle Zone is a family owned and locally-operated company created to share the intrinsic treasures of the Banderas Bay with the public by way of ecologically-friendly sports and recreation services. Offering equipment rental, professional lessons, and ocean excursions, we craft memorable outdoor experiences aimed at providing value, inspiring adventure, and prioritizing safety.
My friend and I had an amazing kayaking tour with Emily and Alberto (I might have the guide's name wrong and I apologize!) The trip was amazing. We paddled to Los Arcos and through the caves. Our guides were intent on showing us all the natural beauty that surrounded us. We also got to snorkel. The waves got a bit choppy on the way back, but the adventure was worth it. We were treated to a delicious pizza when we returned. Couldn't have asked for a more perfect outing!

All of Guadalajara’s center is wonderful. The Expiatorio is a must-see on the list:) the grounds are very clean and the church is beautiful.

There are many beautiful shops here. Sergio Bustamente Gallery is always our favorite. He is such a wonderfully talented artist! What an imagination this man has! Don't miss this. Also has a very lovely selection of interesting jewelry. I received an early birthday present today, which I love.

What a fabulous array of home furnishings and decor items in the shops, plus knick-knacks, jewelry, clothing, shoes, crafts, leather goods and so much more in the tents. It's huge so have a good breakfast (or buy one from the many vendors walking through the market or at the multiple food stalls), wear comfy shoes and a hat and take water.

Beautifully landscaped and maintained, the large boardwalk and adjacent park are never as busy as nearby Chapala’s. Rather than the large buildup of vendors at Chapala, there are a few vendors, none aggressive, Playgrounds, a decent sized cement skate park, and plenty of mostly locals fishing, cooking, picnicking and socializing, just having lots of peaceful, family fun. Restaurants are up the Main Street from one end of the Malecon, as well as several along the waterfront at the same end. The smaller number of foreigners (like myself) feel welcome to just enjoy this slower pace along the waterfront. I made the 3/4 mile or so stroll at least twice daily the couple of months I was there, and never tired of the waterside sights. Sunsets here are incredible, and rarely crowded.

The Malecon is attractive to visitors from Guadalajara and locals alike. Mariachi stroll there and for thirty pesos per song will sing their hearts out or make music. There is also a permanent market, consisting of many individual stalls, where you can buy souvenirs, soft drinks and snacks, and a wide variety of other things. The Malecon is a pleasant place for a walk during the day, but there are often other activities at night, like Concerts. There are quite a number of restaurants, most serving Mexican fare, but some, like the Cozumel, offer some fair dishes. Order wine, and they'll keep your glass full.

Once an orphanage, this building now serves as a gallery of the famous murals of Jose Clemente Orozco.

Don't know what to do if you are in Guadalajara for the weekend? Well this place has everything for everyone. You have kids? It has games. You have teens? It has video games and teen fashion halls. You love to party? At night all restaurants have bars and the food is awesome. As I tell you. This is a great place to kill time

Opened in 1886, this large neo-Classical building is home to the city's opera and orchestra.
Built in the mid-1800's, the Teatro Degollado was to fill a niche for a nice theater in those days. Now Guadalajara has plenty Theaters but the Degollado is one of the most (if not THE most) notable one for its architecture and finesse of the interiors. Worth a few minutes to appreciate it and to go to the outside back of the building and visit the Fountain of Guadalajara founders.
... Of course worth even more if you get tickets for some events. We had the fortune to go to the Ballet Folklorico de la Universidad de Guadalajara and it was amazing! If you plan to travel to Guadalajara you should check if the Degollado has some upcoming shows of your liking and buy tickets ahead.
