Onces bellavista is a small "farm-like" place located close to the lake's shore, that offers a truly amazing ambience and great food, meant for "tea-time" or once as we call it here. The whole place reeks of "home-made", with spectacular bread, butter, kuchen, among other local delicacies.
Added to the great quality of the meal, the place offers a beautiful vista of the lake and volcano, and there's also a few children's games and some farm animals around, which will make sure your children are having fun as well as eating like little monsters.
Attention is good, but this is no luxury place, it's meant to make you feel at home rather than like royalty, and also note that portions are huge, I guess 1 order is for 2 people. Finally, the place is a bit on the expensive side but for what's offered, I'd say it's fair price. Fully recommended.

Lattitude 42 occupies a series of very pleasant dining rooms, one with a fireplace, in a small hotel on Lake Lllanquihue, with a view of the Osorno volcano - when weather permits. The menu (which merits an online view) is quite extensive, and the kitchen does a fine job of preparation and presentation. The lamb offerings were superb, and I ordered a fillet just to get the vegetable accompaniments. The wine list is astonishing. We made a special trip here from Puerto Varas, but you can also incorporate it in a circuit of the lake.
Latitutde 42 is part of the upscale Yan Kee Way Lodge, which has special programs for fishermen, but welcomes others! The external decor is quirky and suggests a stay here could be fun.

Really good home made food! All inclusive buffet, had very nice cocked fish from the lake outside, meat was delicious and very well cocked/smoked! Had lots of desserts! Would recommend to any one who is passing this place!

This place is a find. I've been here three times and was delighted each time. Everything is fresh and made to order. My merluza with blue cheese sauce was delectable and the mashed potatoes excellent. You are allowed one "agregado" but I shared my wife's salad and my mother-in-law's fries (their agregado). The wife had salmon with fine herbs. The waiter suggested salmon with picoroco sauce for my next visit which I will follow up on. The prices? Very reasonable and on a par with the subpar "cocinas populares" in Angelmo. One caution: try to get there by 1:00 pm because the place fills up (only about ten tables) and tour buses like to stop there as well. The people seemed happy to wait for a table when there wasn't one available. Also, you might wait 20 minutes or more for your order to arrive, but worth it!

Delicious meat, prepared perfectly. Our steaks were bien jugoso and the local veggies that accompanied were delightful. Their wine list needs work though, as does their ambiance. They would benefit from a dimmer switch for the lights and some more appropriate music - 80s pop, while the norm in these parts, just didn't match the delicious food we were eating. At least it wasn't too loud though.

We stopped here after touring the falls at Saltos de Petrohue (about 40 minutes west of Puerto Varas). It's on the west side of the town of Ensenada, maybe half a mile out of town. There's an empanada, fast-food restaurant on the highway, but Don Salmon sits at the back of the parking lot, up against the lake shore. The buidling is a neat, quirky lodge style building with lots of Barvarian style carvings (dwarves, animals, Hobbiton type features) and mostly family friendly but some topless carvings that you can steer your younger kids around. The servers were very friendly & helpful (no English on the day we were there), the food was excellet, prices were higher mid-range, bathrooms were clean and the view of the lake was great. If you are here in the middle of the day it is well worth your while to take the drive up Osorno volcano. It takes an hour or more to reach the ski lodge at the end of the road, but you are rewarded with stunning views out over Lake Llanquihue to the west and Volcan Calbuco to the south.

This restaurant is named for the unique fruit found in this part of the world prompting our annual Murta Festival.
A clean family style establishment offering typical Chilean cuisine and Murta products.
The friendly staff have often made us vegetarian dishes not found on the menu. This place won't be seen on T.V. nor does is win any prizes but we have never left there hungry.
