Sightseeing Tours around Lisbon. Tours in Lisbon, Sintra, Cascais, Sesimbra, Fatima, Nazare, Obidos e muito mais. Shuttle service from/to the airport to the hotels with sightseeing tour.
The lively capital of Santarem, overlooks the Tagas, has an illustrious past involving Caesar,Moors and Portuguese kings who held court in this town.
Our guides drove us to the centre of the old town,to check out the vast baroque,multi-windowed edifice built for the Jesuits in 1640. The huge interior has a painted wooden ceiling and marble and gilt ornamentation. A cluster of older buildings showcase the medieval grandeur of the town.
My favourite area besides the baroque and Romanesque edifices,is the Jardens das Portas do Sol, built on the site of a Moorish castle, where is intimacy in the enclosed city walls and the Terrace which opens a Panorama out to the river and its vast meadowlands.
On the way back to town,we passed a 14th century church with a spectacular rose window carved from a single stone and we owe the Brazilian World Cup to Pedro Alvares Cabral who discovered Brazil and whose tomb every gyrating hipster should pay homage to.
We were driven around the bull-fighting centre, and this being june the town was hosting Portugal's largest agricultural fair where the gory spectacle is held fielded by colourfully dressed herdsmen, the campinos, hold centre court. Our shuttle service organised many little things that would have wasted a lot of our time, especially using their contacts to procure tickets to see the buuls.
The best of Santarem happens in October when the Gastronomy Festival takes place. its the best eating extravaganza which hosts the other region's food goodies.

Good area outside the center of city, with good conditions, the place needs some improvement, like some benches. Ideal to do your exercise without any interruptions.

EVOA is situated in the Natural Reserve of the Tagus Estuary, which is included in the Natura 2000 network since 1980 and is recognized as a Ramsar Site. Since April 2013, the visitor can enjoy the wild birds, mostly in three Freshwater wetlands, with 70 ha. The Visitor Centre has an exhibition area and a cafeteria where visitors can enjoy the space and the beautiful scenery.
I thoroughly enjoyed my first visit to EVOA. We had a guided visit, both to the exhibits and to the field. It was so absorbing we spent 4 hours instead of the planned 2:30, and time just flew.
The visit started with a movie about EVOA. I give high marks to the photography and the very clear narrative. Next, we were guided through the exhibition. Our very knowledgeable guide nicely complemented the charts, photos and text displayed! This was followed by a few "rules of the road" for the field visit and off we went.
It is quite an easy walk, as the path is totally flat. On a nice sunny day like today, wearing a hat is advisable, as are (any time) wearing good walking shoes, trousers and long sleeves. I should also have taken some water with me.
We made three stops at different lagoons and from the observation booths we were able to see and photograph a large variety of birds, some rarely seen (beginners luck?). This was in addition to many more seen during the walk. Again, our guide was invaluable, always ready with explanations and setting up the spotting scope she carried all along, helping us to easily distinguish the several species. We could also see tracks from various animals, and hear some bird calls. The richness and diversity of the fauna is amazing, and we were told it keeps changing throughout the year, so re-visiting should be nice.
EVOA is quite near Lisbon and easy to find. The path from the main road to EVOA is well marked. The price is fair, considering the amount of information, variety of birds that can be seen, the facilities, and the fact we could actually have spent the whole day, which we didn't know. It was a memorable afternoon, and I'd like to repeat it.

Opened in 1998, the Oceanário was the centerpiece of the XXth Century's last World Fair, themed "The Oceans, a Heritage for the Future", and eternally binds Lisbon to the Oceans.MissionThe Oceanário’s Mission is to promote knowledge of the oceans and bring up the public about the duty of protecting natural heritage, through changing their daily habits. While walking through impressive and unforgettable exhibits, visitors are encouraged to learn fascinating things about the oceans and, more importantly, how to make decisions in their daily lives that actively promote the conservation of nature.
Loved it, especially the Penguins. Made up for disappointment, net of not seeing any at the Zoo. Money well spent

It's an historical place, I believe it served for storing food and trades, but not maintained at all! You can't breath history there... Good esplanada though, for a late relaxed afternoon, or after work beer. Prices are good too (drinks wize) and frequented by young students so you'll get energy from the environment

Di passaggio da Arruda ho notato la chiesa del borgo che all’esterno è un tipico monumento manuelino con un bel portale e la struttura interna. Il decoro interno è invece più tardo con decoro in azulejos e un bell’altare. Merita un’occhiata.

Our Group of 4 recently biked the self-guided version of "The Charming Pousadas in Alentejo". It was a great trip. Cristina was very helpful. Great places to stay. Excellent breakfast meal included in cost of trip.
The self-guided trip navigation relies on Reading and following the provided GPS. Two GPSs were helpful. Good documentation also provided on paper, but you need to do the homework prior to using both methods. Also it is helpful to know some of the helpful Portuguese phrases.

Tours from Lisbon to Sintra, Cascais, Evora, Fatima, Batalha, Nazare and Obidos.
We, a family of 8 members, arrived at Portugal hoping we could find means to reach Fatima. The hotel recommended "Leguas" tours. It was the best. Our guide, Vera, the owner, was very knowledgeable and accommodating. On the way to Fatima, Vera gave a good account of the places we passed by as well as its historical facts. She even explained a brief background of the apparition at Fatima. She left us for our spiritual activities, and came back just as we have finished our visit. Afterwards, she brought us to a cafeteria for good food. And for some retail therapy, she brought us to shop for souvenir items. "Leguas Sem Barreiras" is highly recommended. You will enjoy your tour, guaranteed! Thank you very much Vera. More power to your company.
