A coastal town just 20 miles west of Lisbon, Cascais was once a small fishing village, but its idyllic scenery attracted the attention of artists, writers and expelled European nobility in the 20th century. Today, it still attracts high society, but all society comes in force to enjoy the gorgeous beaches and adventure options like sailing and surfing. The Conde de Castro Guimarães Museum, a former palace, is now open to the public and displays an impressive collection of art and artifacts.

Restaurant Fortaleza do Guincho was opened in 1998, as the Hotel. Acclaimed French Chef Antoine Westermann introduced a haute cuisine restaurant, which quickly became a reference in Portugal. In 2001 the restaurant received a Michelin star, held until today. Originally with a classic French base, Portuguese products and traditions have been gaining more and more prominence in Fortaleza do Guincho. The inspiration that comes from the Sea; the philosophy is based and inspired by the Atlantic, the background setting of the Hotel. The best fish and seafood from the Portuguese coast as well as highest quality of national products are a constant on the Guincho table.
I copied another reviewer's headline because it is so true. This restaurant is completely sublime. The food is interesting, the wines are fantastic, the service is very polished and multilingual and the view is unbeatable. The dishes are varied but aligned with the local environment. You pick anywhere from 4-6 courses and then let the experience unfold. We did not get the wine pairings but if I went back- I would try that. The wine we had was amazing but their wine selection is so special- I would like to see how they pair the wine with the dishes. If you are in the area- this is STRONGLY recommended if you are at all food/wine oriented. It is fairly expensive but I felt it was a great value. The four course meal was about 40 euros at lunch. But this is a meal I will remember for a long time.

I was also part of the group of 24 and everything was excellent. We were that impressed we were going to return but sadly could not fit in the return visit. Would recommend a visit.

This restaurant just has a small gate outside but welcoming ambiance on the inside. It's quite easy to find as it's just on the side of the chapel in Cascais. I have read a lot of good things about this place and decided to try them. The male staff was attentive and since we arrived early, we were able to get a seat right beside the fire place which was a nice touch. They have recommended specialties of the day which are also nice choices but we chose to pick from their menu even if we have to wait a bit longer. But it didn't really take that long as we had our entrees served and we love the hot bread with pate, fish eggs cooked with herbs in olive oil. We ordered the fish and shrimp souffle which was a really huge souffle (I would recommend this only for really big appetites), steak in olive oil with garlic topped with prawns with home made fried potato on the side then for desserts we ordered petite gateau with vanilla ice cream- which was so nice and would order again and the carrot cake with Oporto wine. Unfortunately, as I am allergic to alcohol we just ordered water and 7Up for drinks. Total bill- € 62.50 and would definitely return again to try their other specialties.

House of Wonders has a building offering four floors and two entrances. On the ground floor is our vegetarian restaurant offering a fusion of Mediterranean and middle eastern cuisine, both hot and cold mezze, fresh and healthy vegetable dishes. Our Cafe Gallery is an artistic space where local artists show their works and where guests are welcome to browse and enjoy light dishes, tapas, cakes and hot & cold drinks. Our Cafe offers freshly squeezed juices and green drinks as well as alcoholic beverages and cocktails, a large selection of teas and international coffees. It has an entrance to our Rooftop, a popular open roof with a 360 degrees view. We are open all day every day from 10-22hrs.
I visited the restaurant twice and the customer service and experience was top
notch.During the day I visited the roof top Terrace with amazing views of Cascais and also visited the downstairs restaurant for the hot maze with a large party. The food is healthy, delicious and inspiring with some great combinations - you have to try the beetroot and strawberry juice, it's totally divine. It's great value day or night

Conceito Food Store With an elegant and comfortable space, located close to the city but far from the confusion , our main purpose is to create a unique experience of gastronomic discovery throughout the meal. We offer portuguese cuisine with contemporary influences and our open space kitchen works mainly with fresh products carefully selected in local markets and suppliers. We have our own gourmet store, where you can buy wine, jam and other products used on the confection of our dishes. Last but not least, we can also offer take-away, catering, workshops and brunch services. You can always count with the presence of our Chef, Daniel Estriga, that will welcome you like a friend, do his best to meet your expectations and is always available for a good chat. It is necessary to make reservation. We do not have Visa/Mastercard/Credit Card sistem!
Went for dinner. The location is odd but who really cares as inside it's very modern and we loved the open kitchen. The food is good to excellent (went for the five courses) at reasonable prices and the service very attentive and they actually really do care whether you like your meal. One thing we did not like was the cover charge of €2.20pp. We feel this belongs to cheap restaurants and although we are fully aware this is normal in Portugal and most Southern European countries, it just doesn't belong in a nice restaurant - just increase the prices a little.

We looked this up on tripadvisor and probably wouldn't have found it otherwise as its tucked away from the usual tourist restaurant area.
As it wasn't high season we chanced our luck and got a table without booking.. It's a very small restaurant.
The waitor was very friendly and quite a character.
We had the vegetarian curry and the dorada fish which was cooked whole.
Delicious food at reasonable prices.
Would definitely come here again on a return visit.

Visited this very small restaurant after Reading the tripadvisor reviews. We fancied a burger and as they also had veggie burgers we gave it a try.
I loved my beefburger, delicious. Very reasonably priced and very friendly service.
Will come here again on our next trip to Cascais.

We have become regulars at this restaurant for the last couple of years, visiting every time we come to Portugal. Never ever had a complaint about food or service. The high standard and friendliness of service has not changed. The food is superb. The owner makes a special Portuguese dessert called "sweet rice pudding" or in portuguese "arroz doce". It is to die for. Definitely a highly recommended restaurant.

We really went for a healthy breakfast, and the decided to go for the "superbowl" yoghurt with ->fresh fruit and ->granola
We got:
A bowl with yoghurt inclusief -> cheap cruesli containing lots of suger (definitely no granola!), a few thin slizes of banana and 1 (!) strawberry and some raiszens on top. WoW serious?
That should have cost 2 euro in stead of 5, which was absolutely rediculous!

I usually scope out restaurants on trip advisor before I go, but we just happened upon this place as we wandered around Cascais. What a wonderful surprise! I grew up on homemade octopus (usually in a cold salad) in my Sicilian-American household.
I laughed when I saw the sign - Octopus and craft beer (my husband and I live in the Pacific Northwest, the home of northwest IPA’s.)
The octopus with sweet potato was recommended and was delicious!! The chef prepared turnip greens to accompany the dish. Everything was wonderful!! Staff was friendly! What a treat.
