Nice friendly, informative staff and a quite reasonable cafe.
On the bird front there is a lot to see and I have found that the bird enthusiasts are all to willing to identify birds for you and point out anything special.
Great sighting of a little egret. Will return when next in the area but will ensure that for the next visit I will have my camera with a big lens with me.

We have just watched 'Harry Worth' at the Lamproom last night, this being our first visit to the Lamproom, but it will not be our last!
Its a great venue, comfortable seats, good views of the stage, with friendly staff and a well equipped bar at reasonable prices, (but you have to drink up as you can't take your drinks into the auditorium).
Tickets are value for money, free evening parking, and a wide a variety of shows including many showcasing local talent- what more can you ask?
Well done Lamproom, lets hope you have continued success for many years to come

A very interesting, thought provoking insight into the magical world of the Ancient Egyptians and a lovely twist with the Yorkshire connections. Thoroughly enjoyed my visit- and it has something for everyone. Highly recommended!

Elsecar Heritage Centre

Reviewed By Crant0ck - Birmingham, United Kingdom

I had heard of Elsecar so chose to visit between Christmas and new year. It’s really a retail development with a touch of heritage.
A large “antiques” showroom, a children’s play zone I’m canteen and an “events area” are the key attractions. There is then a collection of craft shops etc.
Nicely done but little heritage. The Newcomen engine and the Ironworks event area were closed. There was also a Railway but that’s very limited.
Nice village but a walk along the canal shows a massive litter problem.
Came back and visited “The Pantry” tea room. After a delay someone appeared. They were near to closing, at 15.15, as they told me hoping the family seated would hear and go. So I had a tea but as they were closing soon they couldn’t be bothered clearing the table. Generally not a welcoming corner of the establishment (dogs particularly not welcome).

We have been to this theatre a number of times usually with our Grandchildren. It is welcoming from the ticket office to the bar area staff to the performers. The children love it at the end of the shows when the cast are all available to meet and greet and to have photos taken, really friendly. A place we will keep returning to.

I visited the farm today for my niece's 5th birthday. The kids had a great time and I had a look around whilst they were eating the party food. The animals vary from farm animals (cows, sheep, pigs, goats...) to meetkats and reptiles- something for everyone!
I would highly recommend having a kid's party here too- they make it fun, relaxed and it takes all the strain out of catering and organising one by yourself!
There is a cafe on site so you can spend the whole day there, and as a charity I highly recommend you support them!

Worsbrough Mill Museum & Country Park

Well worth a visit. The old water-powered mill still produces flour, and entry to see it is free. Parking is cheap too. The Reservoir close to the mill has a variety of water fowl, and there is also fishing. Lots of signposted walks, as well as a good kid's playground. There's a small shop, and a cafe which does simple meals and delicious-looking cakes. They need to train the lasses how to make coffee though, my Americano was undrinkable, weak and overfilled with water. Forgiveable on a pleasant day.
