The Cow Shed focuses on serving local seasonal produce, cooked with a modern English style – presented to you in our cosey and intimate dining room by a professional team of attentive waiting staff, and accompanied by a wide selection of wines.
Came across the Cow Shed by chance on a freezing day in Wakefield. We were the first customers in that day and we were made to feel welcome. The food was very good and just what we needed. The service was good and efficient, and flexible when one of our party arrived later to do another lunch quickly. Worth a visit.

Charming rural pub offering excellent freshly cooked to order food and a fabulous range of drinks including Cask Marque Yorkshire ales and wines from award winning vineyards. Booking highly recommended as we do get busy every day. Thanks
The food was very prepared however the menu was fairly limited and not so exciting. When we go out we like to have something that we wouldn't normally have at home! The atmosphere is more pub like than restaurant, so not really the place for a special occasion but fine for a decent meal at a decent price. A plus point were the staff and service which couldn't be faltered.

A friendly family restaurant who prides themselves in great service. We would like to make our customers visit a memorable one, who knows, we might through some magic your way. (Orlando is a member of the Huddersfield Magic Circle)
We decided to take our daughter here for a pre birthday treat and she loved it. The starters were delicious but huge, leaving little room for our mains.. Share! We had garlic bread, deep fried brie and olives, all lovely. Our daughter ordered pasta from...Morethank you very much for you great review see you soon team orlando

We are open 6pm to late on Thursday, Friday and Saturdays,
Service is friendly in a good clean relaxed environment.
Been a handful of times all times having something different from the menu I.e lasagne, scampi, poached egg on toast, cottage pie and chicken with a creamy mushroom (white wine?) sauce.. all was fantastic, good size portions with a choice of either chips or side salad (I'm not a chip fan but I find myself enjoying them) and the chicken with the sauce was to die for! It's hard not opting for that each time.
Great homemade food. Fab prices/offers.
Only negative thing I could possibly say is that the scampi doesn't come with a garnish of lemon, however I asked and I did recieve! Could just be my preference though.
Definitely will return

By great good luck we tried Mocca plodding back from Wakefield Westgate railway station to our hotel. No one in but then it was a perishing cold night outside and we prefer quite if we can find it.
Very friendly and welcoming we were quickly made to feel valued and service was smooth. All our dishes prepared in the kitchen as we watched and sipped the fine house white wine. My pasta was rich, creamy and delicious. My friend's 'two starters as a main course' looked very tempting. She was delighted at the freshness and taste of her two choices, a spinach and ricotta filled pancake and calamari. We were stunned to discover that the ice cream had run out! Is that possible in an Italian restaurant? Our delightful host explained he had been inundated during the lunchtime and afternoon and it had all sold out (the waffles and ice cream topping I guessed were a magnet for diners). I settled for the cheese cake and my friend asked for a typical 'Shrove Tuesday' pancake (again!). There was no fuss and no shoulder shrugs from the kitchen because we went off the fixed menu. Highly recommended on pure food grounds alone. And we eat out a lot!

We arrived early, before 6pm, but warmly welcomed.
Never eaten in Japanese rest. before. Shown to shared long table and given set menu to look at. Asked about full menu seen in window; told we could order and expect 20% added to takeaway menu prices.
We decided on vegetarian options of set menu. We weren't disappointed...
All cooked by expert chef before our eyes. Good sized portions of starter and main course dishes - several of each.
Staff checked beforehand that we could/were happy to eat egg (so vegan friendly too!).
Good value, £18 each inc. alcoholic drink.
Would recommend trying this terrific food restaurant.

The Spiced Mango was a firm family favourite so my boyfriend and I decided to take his nan for Christmas dinner and we fancied something different!
The table was booked 2 months in advance for three people. We were assured that the usual menu would be available.. however, upon arrival they told us only a table for two was booked. They then told us alterations could be made but were made to wait for thirty five minutes to be seated.
When the waiter finally arrived to take our order, we were told that we must have the 4/5 course set menu at £30 per head. We then informed him that at the time of booking we were assured that the usual menu was available.. after deliberation, the waiter agreed. After all, my 77 year old relative could hardly be expected to eat so much food!
After this moment, the waiters became incredibly hostile.. Food was slammed on the table, we weren’t engaged in any conversation and we weren’t asked to order anymore drinks.
To top it all off, we were presented with a bill of £96.50 for three curries, three sundries and three non alcoholic drinks.
My boyfriend and I went to discuss the extortionate bill with the staff, to which they then angrily typed several numbers in to the calculator to the sum of £38.50. We paid + a tip but as we collected our relative to leave, the same member of staff followed us insisting that we owed £96.50 in full for the meal!!!! His colleague then dragged him away telling him to ‘let It go’! Our elderly relative, my boyfriend and I left the restaurant appalled at the disturbing and hostile behaviour displayed by the members of staff at The Spiced Mango.
Safe to say that we will not be returning and we will advise our family and friends to do the same.

Called in New Years Eve daytime for a bite to eat. We have visited several times before and never been disappointed.
Starter was a Camembert cheese with pineapple and cranberry’s with a top range basmilic vinegret to dip. Mmmmmmm could have ate another it was so good and very well presented.
My wife had the pork with mash and red cabbage. Again very well cooked and she enjoyed as the plate was cleared.
I had the hunters stew as I needed comfort food after a rough night out the previous day.
Well it definitely hit the spot.
All food cooked fresh and worth the wait and the staff are terrific. If your a sceptic don’t be shy and go down there it’s a great little place so prebook to avoid disappointment.
Wide range of Polish and European beers on offer.
We’ll be back for more pretty soon. Well done Duchniaks!!!!!

Very friendly service. The food was nice but basic and quite expensive for what it was. I ordered a vegetarian platter which was literally a cut up pitta bread with grilled veggies and dip. I could have easily made this at home for half the price. Not worth the money.

We decided to try the Christmas lunch menu. We thought it was good value, two courses £14.95 or three courses £17.95. We chose to have the three courses. For starters we chose the soup of the day which came with a warm bread roll, followed by traditional Turkey with all the trimmings, lovely roast potatoes and plenty of fresh vegetables, finishing with Christmas pudding and a brandy sauce. The whole meal was delicious , the staff were very pleasant and helpful and the meal was beautifully presented and included crackers and we were able to purchase wine to accompany the meal.
