Opened in 1994 and now under the ownerships of Manager Alistair Myers and Chef Tom Lawson Rafters has long been accepted as one of Sheffield's finest restaurants. The combination of the highly skilled & creative cooking of Tom and the kitchen team partnered with the knowledgeable, friendly and relaxed service of Alistair and the front of house team partners to make the best dining experience possible. Both brought up locally Alistair went to Tapton School where he did his work placement at the Forte Post house and has been hooked on the catering industry ever since.Leaving school at 16 to pursue his chosen career in a work based modern apprenticeship Alistair has worked in some of the best Hotels and Restaurants in Sheffield and the surrounding area learning his trade always with the ultimate ambition of opening his own restaurant one day. Tom started cooking at the age of 13 when he was first introduced to the highly regarded Sheffield College for a one week cookery course in the summer holidays whilst at High Storrs. It was this initial introduction that sparked his passion and ultimately led him back to Sheffield College where he completed his Professional Chefs diploma and was named college chef of the year. After leaving college Tom has worked at the highest level in Restaurants and Pubs in Sheffield and the surrounding area, maintaining and gaining local, regional & national recognition wherever he has cooked. Working together for the past 5 years it is the shared vision that dining is about the whole experience and not just the kitchen or dining room that brought Alistair & Tom together to embark on the journey of running their own restaurant working together as one team with the goal always being to delight and satisfy the customer.
A treat for a significant birthday, and we were not disappointed!
Taste Experience One surpassed our lofty expectations with flavour combinations I frankly wouldn’t have considered, and complementary textures which demonstrated an unusual and very enjoyable approach. Although young the front of house team obviously understood the art of good service. A couple of highlights were the Little Mesters Cheese & Sheffield honey tart and the Herb fed chicken, but everything offered was superb

Award Winning Italian Fine Dining Restaurant with a great atmosphere and a beautiful 'Al Fresco' Dining area over looking the park.
Saturday night had 4 of us booked into this outstanding restaurant.
Drinks in the reception area whilst our table was prepared.
Starter of Thai fish cakes which were superb. £8ish. Everyone else had mushroom bruschetta which they said was superb. £7ish.
Two of us had fillet steak mains, cooked to perfection. Mine was on an ox cheek base and the red wine and jus sauce accompanying it was gorgeous. Skinny fries and vegetables too. Mmmmm. £28ish. The ladies both had the Thai fish cakes as a main. Loved it. Beers, glasses of champagne and a nice bottle of red wine helped wash it all down. Bottled water also.
Cheesecake and cheese board to finish, together with port and coffee.
Staff were superb from the second we went in until we left. Brilliant service (amongst the best ever), superb food in lovely surroundings with great company. A perfect evening.
Love this place!!!

The atmosphere in this restaurant is always calm and relaxing and with BYO, whats not to like. The waitress (Emma, I think) is very accommodating and even remembered what I had ordered off the specials board (try the ravioli) the previous month when I had been part of a large group (my birthday)
No matter what you order, (try the ravioli) be it off the specials board or the normal menu, you always get fantastic authentic home cooking. #trytheravioli
Knowing that I am guaranteed damn good grub every time, I will return, again, and again to this spot.

We serve the freshest handmade sushi and also Japanese hot food, such as Chicken katsu curry & rice for lunch-time and deliveries for the evening. One of my favourite places to get a takeaway lunch in Sheffield. The lunchtime boxes are really good value for money and delicious. There are also some amazing choices from the main menu including the Godzilla (tempura prawn) and Mini Dynamite. The miso soup is also lovely. Really friendly service.

The Hidden Gem cafe is linked to a small charity for young adults with learning difficulties, it is the perfect quiet retreat set back from Ringing low Road. You can call in for coffee and cake or something more substantial like homemade light bites, full English breakfast and delicious daily specials. Food is served Monday-Saturday 9am - 3pm and coffee and cake until 4. Our bijoux gift shop sells a beautiful array of home accessories, gifts and bespoke pieces. We also sell stunning handmade items that the students of WORK Ltd create
After Reading all the reviews we definitely wanted to check out breakfast at the hidden gem! Its easy to find with sign posts and easy to find with google maps. It doesn't look like your average restaurant but that's what makes it special. Its decorated lovely inside and has a cute outdoor area. We had two coffees, a royal benedict and a veggie benedict. The food looked so nice and tasted amazing. The best benedict we've tasted. Its very instagrammable food! and the taste! I actually went back the day after to bring my dad and had the veggie breakfast and that too was lovely!
We actually didn't realise that it was a charity run organisation as no one mentioned it in the comments, it helps disabled young adult have work. The young adults served us on the friday and were very helpful, friendly and professional. This made the visit even more worth wild that you're money is going to a fantastic cause.
We do not have one bad thing to say on both our trips and will deinitely be spreading the world and visiting again.
I read an extremely digusting comment on here (if you look at the only 2 terrible rates) claiming that they thought the cafe pushed down their throats that they are a charity .... they do not at all. The only way you know as there is a little block on your table telling yu about the hidden gem and it says it on there. Which i think it is nice to know. This review upset me as i have a disabled brother and some people can be so narrow minded, selfish and awful. I hope the person who left that comment reads this and feels ashamed of themselves to be so disrepectful and above everyone else. If you dont mind supporting charities (which most people dont) then go and visit.
The best breakfast in Sheffield and supports a lovely cause.

I ordered a jacket potato with chilli, which was very reasonably priced. It was well presented and decorated with a homemade curly crisp. I expected the usual minced beef but the chilli was made from tender diced beef. The cakes are very generous and could be shared between two people.
