Stratford-upon-Avon is steeped in the history of its most famous resident, William Shakespeare. This Warwickshire country town contains the home where Shakespeare was born, the cottage where Anne Hathaway resided before their marriage and the church where the couple is buried. Need a break from the Bard? The town also boasts Europe's largest butterfly farm.

The Lamb was full, we hadn’t booked, so we were directed next door to their sister restaurant. Initially unsure, having noticed while passing by earlier in the day that the tables are crammed in, we nevertheless decided to give it a whirl. Good decision that turned out to be. The menu looks decent and there’s a specials board too. The lamb shank and pork fillet mains were very good, and desserts were spot on. Well worth it, despite the proximity of the tables around us.

Two lunchtime courses for £15 or 3 courses for £19 is fantastic value for such excellent cuisine. Our waiter was delightful, the ambience is relaxing yet efficient but the quality and presentation of the food was superb. We won't want to go anywhere else.

Lovely traditional Italian restaurant that is always consistent.
Pleasant staff and lovely well cooked fayre.
It would have been nice to have seen lamb on the menu,as I'd had it twice before at Sorrento and it had been fantastic.
The only criticism is the price of the rosé wines, they are far too expensive,I couldn't even see a house selection for one.I believe they stated at around the £25 mark, whilst you could get a lovely white for around £18.
I just hope on my next visit I will be able to see a reasonably priced rosé!!

New restaurant opened only four months ago. The owners have run a takeaway outlet in Stratford for many years and have now moved into the restaurant business. The food is superb. The owners are young, enthusiastic and deserve to make a tremendous success of the business.Excellent value for money is given on a comprehensive meal deal .Definitely worth a visit if you appreciate really high quality Indian/bangladeshi food.
What a lovely restaurant with superb food, great choice and cooked how you like it.
If they don’t have your favourite dish on the menu, they will still make it to your liking.
Service is first class, and with a smile, you are rushed.
Would go again no problem.

Came a son part of a 50th birthday celebration for the tasting menu - wholeheartedly agree with previous reviewer. The whole evening was an experience - wonderful food matched with fabulous wines. Attentive, friendly and fun staff - thank you for an amazing night !

Found this pub by accident and glad we did. Lovely little pub staff very friendly and helpful. The menu had good choice and the food was beautiful well cooked and very tasty. I would recommend the chocolate orange and cointreau torte with blood orange sorbet, the sorbet is out of this world!!!

Called in for a coffee before exploring Stratford. It was too early for lunch although we have had lunch here on a previous visit to the town. Quirky decor. Friendly service

Also listed at www.visitstratforduponavon.co.uk/eating/tea-and-coffee-shop ; it's just a cafe but too good not to list, wonderful homemade cakes like fruit scones, great tea, modern coffees, glowing review pending. The miscellany of China crockery is an attraction in itself.
Found my way in here after Reading the reviews, and was not disappointed. Although a fairly basic menu (which for a small tea rooms squished in an antique centre is not that surprising) the salads were delicious (highly recommend the warm goats cheese on brioche) with the salad beautifully presented, and one of the freshest I have had.
Had to have a scone, which was very good indeed. I am not a fan of grace cherries but the scone itself was a lovely medium weight texture, warm and tasty and was fabulous with the double cream and jam.
A selection of cakes looked tempting, only half were homemade but they all looked good, if not a little sweet.
If I worked in that area I would be there all the time!

We were visiting Stratford on Avon and looking at Tripadvisor saw the positive reviews. We have been to Greece a number of times so have some knowledge of Greek food and enjoy it.
We both close the 3 mezze or tapas plates for £10.95 per person. This meant that we had 6 mezzes and we chose, taramasalata, pork souvlaki, chicken souvlaki, moussaka, stifado and calamari with a large plate of pitta bread. Everything tasted good and we had no leftovers. The stifado tasted very authentic with a rich sauce, small onions and very tender beef and the calamari was delicious. With a glass of white wine each, it came to £35. If we hadn't been driving we would have had a bottle of wine. Service was prompt and courteous. I would recommend this restaurant.

Loxley’s Restaurant & Wine Bar is an independently owned, family run business based in the heart of Stratford-upon-Avon.
Having read such positive reviews we booked a Sunday lunch- it was very disappointing. The meal started in a positive light with the cauliflower soup only to go downhill. The roast beef was very over-cooked and dry, although it did seem to be of high quality; however, the garnishes were very poor. The ‘goose fat’ potatoes were soggy, not fluffy and bland. The vegetables were very generic and lacked flavour with the gravy being the high note of the course with a rich flavour full of umami. To follow, we had orange treacle tart, which was mediocre; it lacked any orange flavour, with the accompaniment of marmalade ice cream also lacking any flavour.
Overall this was a very disappointing meal, especially considering the hype, with its only redeeming feature being the service, which was attentive.
