Land of Mermaids. Land of Orange and Lemon Groves. Land of Colors. This small city in Campania has earned a plethora of alluring names. Famed for its sea cliffs, the town's steep slopes look out over azure waters to Ischia, Capri and the Bay of Naples. The birthplace of Limoncello liqueur offers some good diving, great sea fishing, boat cruises and appetizing restaurants. Excellent hiking trails cross the peninsula. Rent a car or take a taxi if the steep streets look too intimidating.

The Great Italian Opera and Neapolitan Songs in Sorrento are performed by singers and musicians from the most important Italian Theaters. Opera performed in the fascinating Correale Museum of Terranova is the perfect mix between art and emotion, culture and passion. From April until October the Opera e Lirica Concerts take place in Sorrento in this gorgeous mansion.
The 3 tenors concert is held in the Musee , a delightful building with atmospheric courtyard. Prosecco is served before the concert.
The concert is in an intimate room and it doesn't matter where one sits as one has an excellent view.
The 3 tenors perform arias from various popular operas. The pianist and other musicians were excellent too. This is not a "stuffy " event it is light hearted, fun but very entertaining. The 3 ; have amazing voices and the concert passes too quickly.
The room and it's interior design adds to a very atmospheric performance. Afterwards we had our photos taken with the tenors.
I took my teenage daughter who is definately not an opera fan but she was totally mesmerized and agreed that it was a wonderful night out, totally entertaining.

Walk through the town centre, from Piazza Tasso, following the signs for the "beach lift". You will enjoy the full Sorrento sea-view and if young, enjoy the walk down to the "beach" which is actually a line of jetties covered in sunbeds and umbrellas, for a refreshing swim in the sea. Others can use the beach lift for less than 2Euros.
Enjoy the view with a cappuccino at the cafe on the corner.

Driven by our caretaker who had taken us by boat to discover Capri and its wonderful caves, we arrived at the entrance to this extraordinary watercourse, separated from the sea by a natural rock arch.
Passed the arc separating the pool from the open sea it is possible to bathe in a swimming pool, bordered by the rock surrounding it and making this corner a little paradise for the bather.
The name comes from that of the homonymous queen Giovanna, who at the beginning of the fifteenth century seemed to be solitary in this place to bathe, accompanied by his young lovers sheltering from prying eyes.
The Bagni also houses a true house of Roman times, the Villa Pollio Felice, dating from the first century BC, of which unfortunately there are only a few remnants.
You can also access the Baths from the ground, through a path and a staircase.
A fabulous experience, not to be missed for those who had a couple of hours during their visit to the island.

I have just returned from an afternoon shopping In Sorrento. Limonoro was one of the highlights. The samples are plentiful and yummy - we had a couple of different limoncellos and about three chocolates each - all absolutely delicious. Of course we did buy some choccies and limoncello but there is no pressure put on you to do so.

Worth accessing as the views to here and from here are some of the most interesting in the Town. Start from the highest point on the Via Del Capo then wind your way down enjoying the changes in the scenery at different points. A green oasis in places as this area has not been built up as heavily as the rest of the town and some historic bulidings and views of the original town walls can be seen. The view changes at different times of the day, try to see it early morning and again early evening to see the differences.

Although this is a museum featuring inlaid wood items and art, there is so much more. Paintings, sculpture, household items and history. This was the best for local history and the feel for the town through the years. Would go again because you can't absorb it all at one visit. Although the inside is very updated, there are pieces of the past in the old spiral staircases and other features that point to its past as a palace. Loved every minute and would highly recommend.
