Quaint, traditional English Tea Room with home baking at the heart of the business. Serving breakfast, lunches and afternoon teas with a table licence for wines and beers. All food including our delicious traditional scones and cakes are cooked and served on the premises by our small team of friendly staff.
Visited on a cold wet December lunchtime to find the tearoom busy, but relaxed. We both had home made corned beef pie which was served with salad, crisps and home made coleslaw. It was delicious. The highlight of our visit though, were our Deserts, the hubby chose sticky toffee pudding with cream, which he said was the best he had ever tasted, while I chose the festive apple and sweet mince crumble with custard. My choice can only be described as a taste sensation! Great service by lovely ladies, we will definitely be back!

We are a traditional English country pub that nestles next to the river coquet in northumberland. Our food is a mix of bar and restaurant, and we try and source as much as possible from local suppliers.
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to The Angler's Arms. The service was excellent, attentive and patient (we went with kids). The menu was extensive but we stuck to the classics: minced beef and dumplings, fish and chips, lamb's liver. All were very enjoyable, good size portions and tasted fresh. Charming decor, a well kept pub. Roaring fire was delightful on a cold day. A very good place to stop if you've been to Cragside or Rothbury, and not far from Morpeth.

Made my first visit here with my girlfriend by chance as we had planned to dine elsewhere but that was thankfully closed.
Having been once, I can definitely say I will be coming back shortly! It was a quiet night and we were seated quickly, with quick service also.
I had the Chilli tofu and spring roll starters with rice combined as a main meal, my girlfriend the beef chow mein, the portion sizes were very large and the food was genuinely the best Chinese food I have ever tasted in my life ☺ highly recommend!

Visited for lunch with my partner. Lovely ambience and decor.
The menu was very good, I opted for fish and chips, lovely light batter, tasty fresh fish, hand cut chips, home made tartare sauce and garden peas, really well presented and so tasty.
My partner opted for the chicken burger which was a breast fillet with delightful accompaniments, both were delicious and very generous portions.
I would not hesitate both to return and reccomend

We’ve been coming here regularly for many years. Sometimes we like to get a takeaway. When you sit in the food can be very good. However sometimes the customer service can really let it down.
As others have mentioned the decor is badly in need of updating.
Recently I tried to get a takeaway order. This will be the 3rd time in recent months. It just appears that they don’t want or need to answer the phone. In this current climate I would be horrified if my staff were ignoring the phone. I do know this to be the case as I actually went in to see if it was even open. To find a half full restaurant after trying to call for 30-40 minutes.
It’s a shame really as there’s not a great deal of choice of restaurants in Morpeth.

My wife and I went here for a ‘date night’ and the atmosphere was really nice and relaxed. The food was reasonably priced and was delicious. We had chicken bhuna and it was sooo good! I liked how the chef had been there for 38 years and it seemed really well run.

we do food every day Monday to Saturday from 11.30 to 3pm then 5pm to 9pm and on Sundays 12noon to 6.30pm
Popped in on the of chance we didnt have to book was told 15 mins wait...within 10 mins we were seated and then we ordered the regular sunday roast it came and honestly there was more than enough...very tasty and cooked to perfection meat was tender(beef for me and pork for him) and veg had a slight bite. Well worth popping in and the price very reasonable as well.

Lovely roast dinner with fresh veg, pity it wasn’t homemade yorkies, but very filling. Had soup, skins and haggis scotch egg as starters. Quite large portions. Quite fancied lamb with “mutton” being the name of pub name but not on menu. Worth the drive out. We were staying at forgetmenot not caravan site just up road. £14.95 for Sauvignon blanc. Very reasonable. £61 for 3 of us with drinks, starters and carvery.

Visited on the 2 courses for 2 people with a bottle of wine Groupon. No limits at all with any starter or main.
Enjoyed duck Spring rolls and chicken satay skewers (though the latter tasted more like chicken tikka). Both good though.
Fillet steak and mixed grill next. Fillet was excellent. Mixed grill decent too though I might have been disappointed if paying full price for it (£19.95). The chicken on it was the size of a goujon. Might have hoped for an egg too. Gammon was delicious.
The wine was in fact an English Sauvignon Blanc which was described on the bottle as effectively made from concentrate in UK (or something like that). Not the best.
But look it was great Groupon value but that same meal with wine on normal prices would have been close to £70 and it is hard to see it being worth that. They seem to offer some loyalty cards which would take prices down a bit.
The restaurant itself is nicely finished and, I think, only open Saturday and Sunday. Part of the Beresford Arms which is open all week.
Staff were OK. One lady warmed up as the meal went on, though the younger girl couldn't quite give us a smile.
Located in the lovely village of Whalton (around 30 minutes drive from Newcastle).

I have lived near Morpeth for nearly 30 years and never visited the old bake house until recently.
It’s like sitting in your grannies dining room, with ageing decor and Knick knacks everywhere. However it is warm welcoming with cheery staff and good substantial home home cooked food. I enjoyed a really tasty portion of corned beef pie accompanied by a dish of five different vegetables all nicely cooked ( non of this al dente rubbish where trying to cut a rock hard sprout puts your neighbouring diners in danger of loosing an eye.)
We might have taken thirty years to visit but be assured we shall be back within thirty days, that is if the current snow abates quickly.
