The biggest display of decorative metalwork in the UK. Featuring live work from the some of the best artists and blacksmiths in the country. The Centre created the world renowned "Spoon Gorilla" made from over 40,000 donated spoons, as seen on the BBC. The Centre was officially opened to visitors in 2014 by HRH Prince Michael of Kent. Donations are welcome for Hope House Children's Hospice. Most recent projects include the "Knife Angel" made from over 100,000 weapons which have been removed from the streets of the United Kingdom, working with national police forces, families affected by knife crime and community action groups to ensure people think twice before carrying a blade.

Loved the knife angel and other statues though the grass was wet so we couldn't get up close to most of them. Quirky garden ornaments for sale. Worth going when there is a special event on Dogs accepted outdoors, and poo bags and dog biscuit supplied. Not inside but undercover soft Seating provided so you can still get a drink or food if accompanied by your canine friend Very friendly staff

Had a lovely day out. Visiting the trenches was very interesting. And the school room brought back memories! Stopped at the coffee shop. The ginger & lemon cake was lovely. The staff are very friendly. Enjoyed stroking the rabbits and feeding the lambs. Definitely worth a visit, especially with children.

Oswestry Iron Age hill fort

The hill fort is a lovely place, very quiet and great views. I like to walk my dig up there and you often see walkers having a nose at the information sign about the history of the fort. You can't spend an awful lot of time there as it's not that big, but it's certainly worth a trip if you're not local and want to inspect this historic hill for yourself.

A lovely art space showing/and selling various creative paintings, sculptures etc.
Visually pleasing to look around. Comfy sofa's and tables in the café area. Nice cake and coffee and no pressure to hurry up. We take the dogs in with us and they enjoy sitting looking out of the large windows. We have bought a couple of works from here and attended an live poetry evening. Certainly worth checking out when in Oswestry.

Cambrian Heritage Railway

Reviewed By noorcaughley - Shrewsbury, United Kingdom

I purchased a "Joint" family ticket so that we could ride on the trains at both Oswestry & Llynclys. My 3 grandsons(8,5,&2) thoroughly enjoyed their train rides from Oswestry to Gasworks Bridge. The fascination for the stream engine was evident & so were the smuts! The boys were keen to have a second ride, which was at no extra charge. The tickets can be used all day at both stations for as many rides as wanted. They were allowed on the footplate for pictures & the driver kindly explained the workings of a steam engine. At Llynclys the boys had a ride on the Diesel train &:enjoyed riding on the miniature engine on the platform.
They declared it was a great afternoon out. Refreshments are available at both places. Eventually the plan is to be able to run the line from Gobowen to Llynclys & into the granite quarries at Nant Mawr.

Oswestry Town Museum

Reviewed By Carlaconsort

An interesting random collection of curiosities with relevance to the history of Oswestry. Admission is free as it is a self funded museum run by enthusiastic volunteers. For the fitter there are five flights of stairs to surmount, for the less able there is a lift. Museum shows how in the past Oswestry often found itself playing a major part in British history for thousands of years. Open on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, well worth a visit for a casual stroll through the three display rooms.

Oswestry Cricket Club

Reviewed By OCContour - Manchester, England, United Kingdom

This club is trying hard to make sure it funds it's on field efforts and it's junior section by using its excellent clubhouse for different functions. Have attended everything from birthday parties to wedding receptions here, and they make a great effort to make sure the event goes well.
This should be high on everyone's list for function venues in this town
