The entrance is an uninspiring door on the street - that's all. But worry not; you walk through the long hall then up the stairs to the piano nobile. You're in an mid-Georgian town-house circa 1792 and I imagine that the smaller dining room was the salon. It had elegant proportions and original features. We were greeted in the bar and our coats taken so that we could sit in the warm, having come in from a bitter winter's night! We were asked what foods we didn't like and then our host went off to find the chef so that our surprise 6-course dinner could be prepared. Choosing wine was difficult (since we didn't know what we were going to eat!) so we opted for a half-bottle each of rather good white and read Bordeaux. Then into the dining room!
Our unique dinner was well paced and every course was just perfect, some so small it must have taken ages to prepare and get just-so on the plate. A revelation of taste and presentation from beginning to end, with every course small and full of amazing ingredients. We chose our white and red wined to accompany the courses finishing with a lovely plate of Shropshire cheese, all for under £40. Then we lingered over our Americanos with hot milk until we were the last to leave after a 2 and a half dining experience.
If you like fine and elegant dining then I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough. My thanks to all the team who made it possible.

We are a genuine family run restaurant, we are proud to prepare Modern Italian cuisine, we also offer exclusive fine dining gourmet evenings during the year, where Italian cuisine is taken to a much higher level, bookings essential.
A fantastic restaurant in the centre of Shrewsbury, a Top "go to" in our opinion. The staff is very friendly, service is fantastic, nice ambience going on inside and the food is "proper Italian" if you know what I mean - Delicious. We shall bring our parents next time!

La Lanterna is a small Italian Restaurant situated in Shrewsbury Town centre, in THE OLD VESTRY at the back of St. Julian's Church. It is a very busy restaurant , especially in the evenings and week-ends, so we recommend that you reserve your table in advance.
Went for a meal with a friend and felt like we were in Italy, the feel and atmosphere are fantastic and the food is tremendous. Also the service we received from the manager Edward was top notch he’s a real credit to this wonderful restaurant!

Quality, freshly prepared vegetarian and vegan food in relaxed surroundings. Wine supplied by Tanners Wines. Families welcome.
We arrived lateish for lunch - they had been busy so some of the salads were running a bit low. We did have a lovely lunch - soup with homegrown pumpkin and some excellent coleslaw. Also good nutloaf, generous portions at s reasonable price. thank you!

We had a lovely family dinner here. We called ahead to ask if they could possibly provide a vegan option and they were very helpful and said this was no problem. All the meals were really great, and a special effort was made to provide...MoreHi Vicki, It's great to hear you enjoyed your meal here! There was a warm welcome on a cold January evening. We were shown to a corner table. The service was efficient but each customer is given time to browse the menu. Help and advice is on offer if the menu is written in Italian. There was no rush to leave the table. A very romantic birthday meal.

Opened in October 2010, Casa Naranjo is a family run tapas bar in the centre of Shrewsbury. Serving fresh, homemade tapas in friendly surroundings. Casa Naranjo is run by Ramon and Marta who warmly welcome you to their little tapas bar. Located just off the Wyle Cop in Barracks Passage, Bienvenidos!
Went here for mothers day evening. Meal was absolutely delicious. We ordered olives and warm bread, which was served quickly along with a jug of sangria. Had a mains tapas array of gambas pil pil, garlic mushrooms, potatos bravos (excellent sauce), fried fish and the pork special. Absolutely spot on and thoroughly enjoyed. Only thing is I noticed the prawn dish had changed to a more fishy tasting oil. Not as nice as previous visits. Dessert was very good.
Staff were attentive and polite especially the Spanish waitress.
Love coming here and will definitely return again.

Having tried unsuccessfully to visit here without a reservation, I booked ahead for a Saturday afternoon treat.
We arrived as the first rush was quieting down, but the tables were soon filled again, such is its deserved reputation.
A great range of tapas, with a lunchtime bonus of 3 for £10.00, on much of the menu. There were also specials and larger meals on offer.
The wine range is small, a bit hit and miss, but well priced and good quality.
The staff and management are obviously well up to speed. The way that they shuffled chairs and tables around to meet groups of different sizes was amazing. Yes, it's small, but it has a beautiful outside suntrap for the summer. Can't wait to try it out, when and if the sun finally arrives. And definitely going to make sure to book ahead.

Award winning bar & restaurant, rooms and village store complete this modern coaching inn. Serving great food of local provenance with passion, whilst also offering an interesting wine list, specialist gin menu and great real ales. 7 course 'Tastes of The Haughmond' menu is available alongside a seasonal A La Carte menu, Tuesday to Saturday lunch and dinner. (Please note no food served on Mondays) On Friday and Saturdays from 3pm we serve Afternoon Tea and on Sundays its just a great lunch served 12 til 5pm! Located just off Shrewsbury's beaten track in the village of Upton Magna. A visit is a must! Booking strongly recommended...
We were 6 for Mothers Day - and my birthday - lunch, which was very disappointing, apart from the company and the starters (except my partner, who could not have one, being allergic to salmon and cream and there being no basic soup or melon). His beef was good, having asked for it well-done. Other meat, beef and lamb, was nice, but it was all just lukewarm and the vegetables were not great, it being impossible to get a knife through the cauliflower, but tiny sloppy parsnips. Potatoes were fine. Desserts were average. Service was slow. Price-wise it was ok for a special occasion, but on the whole not value and not recommended. Maybe a normal Sunday lunch is better.

Expected much but unimpressed. Food was distinctly low average. The various flavours melded into one and were singularly undistinguished. The main course lamb which was billed as a house specialty appeared to be bathed in a sauce from a packet. Shame really. Still the naan was ok. Wouldn't bother to go back.
