The Lion at Waters Upton, a Shropshire Country pub, Indian Restaurant and Takeaway.A perfect blend of Indian and British hospitality, set amid the Shropshire countryside yet just a short drive from Telford, The Lion Inn at Waters Upton, serves classical Indian food within a traditional English pub.
After a long drive our hosts at Meeson Hall recommended the Lion Inn. It was certainly a great recommendation, the food was delicious and Raj was possibly the nicest restaurant owner we have ever met. Very friendly, helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Would highly recommend, and obviously he must be doing something right with so many regulars on the night we were there.

Went here for an early Christmas celebration and found the place to be up to if not better than before. Starting with being seated at a great round table through to the sheer flavours we were very happy. I have travelled around Asia for 20+ years and find these flavours to be amongst the most authentic west of Myanmar. The Massaman was great and the green curry was fresh and singing with flavour. If there was an observation then I would say the platter for starters has lost value compared to my last visit a year ago and would recommend you go for normal starters - the Thai Beef salad was great. Attentive service from a team with a great chef.

With a sunny light-filled dining room and two AA Rosettes, Chez Maw restaurant in Shropshire is guaranteed to impress even the most fanatical foodies. Located in Ironbridge near Telford, Chez Maw enjoys picturesque views looking out over the parklands, Gardens and the River Severn - ideal for post-dining strolls - and the understated dining room has been recently refurbished in a chic palette of vanilla and blonde wood. The restaurant has a brilliant modern British menu, and we love the pressed Wenlock Edge ham hock and parsley terrine with red cabbage and apple puree; the fillet of Welsh Black beef cooked in a shallot marinade served with potato fondant, buttered spinach and a poached egg; and the mocha panna cotta.
Me and my girlfriend went here for a lovely romantic meal for two.
It's really easy to phone & book, the staff are very polite & service was quick.
The food was delicious, drinks were also. Plus the restaurant is part of the lovely valley hotel in Ironbridge.

We arrived just before 2.30 on a Monday afternoon in February for a lunch after a walk. We had a very tasty risotto and a pasta dish which was my husband's favourite dish of a 4 day weekend trip and they very kindly served dessert...MoreHow lovely, thank you so much!

We were hungry after our trips round the museum's and it had been a wet day so when we found this pub and had such a choice of mains we were delighted, we were not disappointed. It was a Tuesday which happened to be Pie night. Lovely home cooked food. Just wished I had asked for more veg, had plenty of potatoes. There was a good choice of beers which made my husband happy and made the walk up the hill from Ironbridge worth it. Andy the owner was very helpful and friendly. Well worth a visit.

Our desire is to bring to our customers the best produce, sourced locally where possible in an interesting way using modern techniques. Our food is a mixture of modernised British classics and our interpretation of some wonderful European dishes. We've brought a range of wines from Europe and the wider world to give our diners a truly memorable experience. Whether a special occasion or "just because" we hope you enjoy your experience with us and look forward to serving you.
This was our second visit & felt quite disappointed at the lack of attention in service for the price paid. Food was good but my husband & I both ordered the stone bass which was cooked well but over-powered by the heavy sauce. As a group, we spent over £300 in total & were flabbergasted when we realised that a 10% gratuity had been automatically added to our bill, which equated to more than £30 tip! Certainly won't be going back in a hurry.

Never had a bad experience here. Coffee is beautiful (they tell me the cream topped jumbo mocha is not non-fattening, which seems unfair!) and the food selection is universally good. Staff are friendly and attentive and the quiet atmosphere with a view across to the iconic Ironbridge is worth a visit in its own. Wholeheartedly recommended.

As I have stated before, this is my go-to Indian restaurant. I find the food and the service to be consistently excellent and I have never been disappointed. I have lost count of the times I’ve been here but I have never had a bad dish or slow service.
They know that my friend and I like to chat and will ask whether we are ready for our meal or whether we need time to chat. We are never rushed and the food, when it arrives is piping hot. It has not been standing around waiting for us. It has been freshly cooked.
My partner does not eat Indian food but has eaten here, albeit a steak. He is very precise about how he likes his steak cooked. The waiter took time to listen to his requirements, even though on that occasion we were part of a group of 14+. The steak was cooked perfectly for him, which is hard to do.
Simply love this place and the people. Can’t recommend enough!

We are a friendly run family pub. Where a warm welcome awaits you every time. You can sit outside on the patio or sit over looking the river Severn . Enjoying a nice ice cold drink or have a meal, looking out for the kingfishers or the otters. In the winter, you can enjoy a meal inside feeling the warmth of our log burner. Or just enjoy a drink. Soaking up the friendly atmosphere. Sit at the bar and have a nice chat with our friendly locals. We are a dog friendly pub. There are water bowls outside, for our four legged friends. We also serve a variety of teas, coffees, lattes, fruit teas, hot chocolate etc. There is a special board, which is changed throughout the year. With a large selection of vegetarian options.
Been several times before. Always had a good meal. I lovely old-fashioned homely pub at reasonably priced food. Haven’t been disappointed yet this time my husband had liver Bacon and onions I had a curry which was ample and very tasty, plenty of chicken will go again when we go for a ride in that area. recommended. In summer right by river with seats to sit and chill.
