Mithymna (Greek pronunciation: [ˈmiθimna]) (Greek: Μήθυμνα, also sometimes spelled Methymna) is a town and former municipality on the island of Lesbos, North Aegean, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Lesbos, of which it is a municipal unit. Before 1919, its official name was Μόλυβος - Molyvos; that name dates back to the end of the Byzantine Era, but is still in common use today.

Lovely castle to explore giving spectacular views. Better to walk up top through the shopping alleyways in the morning before the heat kicks in.

If you want to enjoy a pleasant and unique tour around the beautiful area of Molyvos , Petra and Anaxos, then you have to take the ''Village Train'' !. As soon as you get on , on one of our tourist trains you can wander around and visit various historic monuments and enjoy the breathtaking view of the natural landscape. In addition, our trains guide the visitors through the traditional streets of the village, the deep blue sandy Beaches of Petra and Anaxos and the picturesque harbor of Mithimna as well. During the tour you can hop on and hop off at each of the different train stops. There are daily and frequent tours starting from early in the morning till late in the evening. Our trains start from the starting point of Molyvos and Petra.
As a regular visitor (18 times) to Petra and area, I welcomed the introduction of the 'Village Train' three seasons ago. Then there were 2 Trains in operation, and, they did take in Anaxos, the next village along the coast from Petra. On my last visit, there was only the one Train, and Anaxos is not included now. I regularly hire a car to visit favourite places elsewhere on the island, but, being able to trundle along, between Petra and Molyvos, and return, not having to concentrate on the road, but, taking in the sights and scenery, has been a delight! I have found that the option of buying the 'All round' ticket, at 4 euros, to be the best, since it allows us to spend a relaxing few hours around the shops and Harbour of Molyvos, before jumping back on for the journey to Petra. The timetable, and, the number of stopping points, does provide a good variety of options to a visitor. There is a 'Village Train Shop', selling souvenirs, drink, sweets, clothing, jewellery etc., on the slope just up from the Molyvos Harbour terminal. Present your Ticket, and get a 10% discount.

We got in touch with Georgios 2 days prior to the sailing trip via friends of mine. We spoke about routing and time and startet around 0845 in the morning. Was a great moment - my first sailing up to the northern Islands east of Lesvos. Found a nice bay, had good food, fruits, coffee, snacks, everything home made and good swim, snorcheling there.
Late afternoon we sailed back, dolphins swimming along the boat, - wonderful moments with good friends.... Will try to do it again one day THANK YOU VERY MUCH

Ippos is a small authentic riding school in Molyvos-Lesvos that has kind and trustworthy horses. We offer you the unique opportunity to explore the surroundings of Molyvos on horse back and to discover the amazing scenery of rocky Mountains and the sandy Beaches which this beautiful island has to offer. The yard was opened in March 2012 and is located at the heart of Molyvos Village, Lesvos, Greece... You are more than welcome to browse our web site and see what we have to offer.
Rita is an accomplished horsewoman and a welcoming host. Her horses are clearly well loved and have been well schooled for their work. You can try the horses in the menage first so you can see which suits you (and Rita can check your riding ability). We had a lovely week of riding in the Molyvos area and rode on 5 days. Rita will design the rides around your wishes and you can ride as much or as little as you wish at the speed that suits you. There are some stunning views and some good walking trails in the area. I recommend car hire as the yard is quite a way from the village and it is nice to be able to explore the rest of the island.

My husband and I went on a trip to Rabbit Island. Sunshine. Chugging of the little boat. Excellent company from Stratis who is so interesting to chat with plus has the inevitable twinkle! A throwback to Shirley Valentine times. He and husband disappeared snorkelling for a while so I had the Islands wonky jetty to sit on feet dangling in the clear sea, sun on my back, what more can anyone ask for.

this is a lovely shop..full of unique, one-off, beautifully crafted jewellery...go & have a look, the owner is very knowlegable & quietly passionate about his work & that of other greek jewellers with pieces here. such a wonderful change from mass-produced, soul-less jewellery..& this is from a non-shopper (mostly!) but lover of gorgeous craft.

Pricey but friendly service. The bikes we hired were not really up to the job for the terrain although we had explained where we were going and had hybrids. If you do this trip go for for the mountain bike option and check your tyres have good tread left. From Eflalou it's rough track to Skala but well worth the effort if you're fairly fit. Spectacular coastal ride.

In the 1930’s the use of tickets became compulsory. From this time onwards the cinema became a part of Greek life, and has remained one of the most popular types of entertainment, charming its audience throughout the warm summer evenings.
If you want a nice and relaxing evening you should go to the open air cinema. Very kind and helpfull people. Drinks and food corner, a big screen and many seats. Most movies are English spoken with Greek subtitles. Good movies!

The traditional sailing boat “Santa Elena” offer opportunities to soak in the Sunshine and marvel at exclusive waterfront estates. Our daily semi private cruises along the north bays allow you to share the experience of this magnificent vessel with friends and family.
