The Air Forces Memorial at Runnymede commemorates by name over 20,000 airmen who were lost in the Second World War during operations from bases in the United Kingdom and North and Western Europe, and who have no known graves. They served in Bomber, Fighter, Coastal, Transport, Flying Training and Maintenance Commands, and came from all parts of the Commonwealth. Some were from countries in continental Europe which had been overrun but whose airmen continued to fight in the ranks of the Royal Air Force. This Memorial overlooks the River Thames on Cooper's Hill at Englefield Green between Windsor and Egham on the A308, 4 miles from Windsor.
Be prepared to walk up the steps to the tower and look at the views. They can be hard to climb if you have knee problems as one of my friends found out.

The Founders Building is divided into 2 large grass covered quadrangles. There is a statue in the northern one with Crosslands bar in the middle. There are guided tours but you'll need check when these run.

This bridge as we see it today was opened in 1832 and is built of stone. The Thames path crosses the river here and also the A308 road. One side of the bridge is Staines town and the otherside is a large roundabout with directions to Thorpe park, Egham, and direct link with the M25 motorway.

Windsor Castle is the oldest and largest occupied castle in the world and offers an extraordinarily rich and varied day out. Throughout its history, the Castle has been redecorated, enlarged and rebuilt. Today The Queen spends most of her private weekends at the Castle, which is also used regularly for ceremonial and State occasions. Your ticket to Windsor Castle includes entry to our exhibition Waterloo at Windsor.
The highlight of the visit are the Apartments. We did go through Doll House display as the line wasn’t long, albeit i didn’t find it very interesting. We went late in day so it wasn’t crowed. Got a great tourist picture of my daughter with one of the palace guards. Wonderful place to just wonder around within the grounds as well.
Being an American, the British history mostly goes right over my head, but still enjoyed the visit.
Somewhat expensive but a must see if in Windsor.

Welcome to Liquid Leisure: The home of Europe’s Largest Aqua Park, set on one of the most beautiful private Freshwater lakes amongst stunning parkland in the heart of Berkshire. With the option to wakeboard, waterski or kneeboard on our state of the art cable lake, clamber across our floating obstacle course or just to just relax on our beach by the bar, there’s something for all the family to enjoy. This makes Liquid Leisure the perfect place for you to take your family this summer!
I love this sort of thing and have waited a long time for something like this in the UK! Its super fun, and quite physically challenging keeping your balance and when you fall off (which you will!!). You need to either pull yourself up or swim round to the step-up sections. I really, really enjoyed myself, the hour went so quickly!!
It’s the largest water park in Europe and there are other activities to do there besides the inflatable aqua park (check their website). Arrive early as the slots get very full! (can accommodate 300 people at a time). Parking is good and check in is easy, I advise to fill in the waiver form online before you go so you won’t have to queue. I think its great value for money but remember to check any deals on Groupon. You can hire a wetsuit if you want, and they provide life jackets and helmets for free. You are not allowed to wear anything on your feet. The changing huts are tiny and basic, but clean. Note: there are no showers or lockers that I saw. Everyone is given a full brief before and there are lots of lifeguards around the course so you always feel safe. The staff are very friendly and helpful on and off the course as well. Go and try for sure, I can’t wait to go back!

We have been visiting the Great Cockcrow Railway every summer for many years. It makes a great afternoon outing which is fairly inexpensive. There are two routes, the Red route and the Green route and we usually buy a double ticket and ride both. Of...MoreIce cream between rides should be compulsory, it is SO yummy! Honey and Stem Ginger is my current favourite! You are right about the bluebells, they are beautiful. It's just a pity they don't last longer.

Small but beautiful tranquil Gardens close to the Thames and the village orchard, nice coffee and cake shop with the Millenium Tapestry and art gallery alongside.
Sit in the quiet Sunshine a few minutes and the garden birds, squirrels and even the parakeets become your friend. A real gem and with well maintained flower Gardens all year round

This large park is beautifully designed and well maintained. Although the areas around the car parks can get very busy at weekends, once you get into the park there are many paths and walks to take you away from the crowds.
I particularly like the landscaped Valley Gardens area which is usually peaceful and offers great views of the lake.
The downsides are the number of dogs and unruly children at weekend, and the cost of parking (£2.50 per hour). But I guess this keeps out the worst of the riff-raff. :)

1) This sculpture stands at one end of Staines High Street and you can not avoid observing it. It depicts two industrial workers carrying a big roll of Linoleum from the factory. As per history, Linoleum was invented in Staines and there was a large factory at the same place manufacturing Linoleum.
2) After going through the highs, Linoleum went down after plastics were invented and so the factory was shifted to another place and subsequently shut down. Now we have the Two Rivers Shopping Complex on the place where this factory stood.
3) Interesting piece of history and well made sculpture to remind us all of it.

The site where King John signed the Magna Carta, England's great icon of liberty and first expression of human rights, on June 15, 1215.
Well worth stopping for a visit if driving past - lovely countryside with the river on one side, perfect for a picnic in the summer. Magna Carta was signed here and a lovely memorial signifying the fact. A short walk up a cobbled stairway to see the JFK memorial - lovely views and well kept. A very interesting sculpture of chairs called The Jurors with intriguing back rests in the centre of the field. As this is a National Trust property the cafe close by is always well worth popping in for a cuppa!
