The Estate Grill is our contemporary restaurant, which is a reflection of our commitment to providing locally sourced, simple dishes. Executive Chef, Marc Hardiman, has a straightforward and honest approach to food and enjoys experiencing new dining concepts, both in Europe and the UK. With this in mind, along with the current trend for dining to become more relaxed and casual, he has created an innovative menu of smaller plates, allowing guests to order a variety of dishes brought to the table to eat informally, in an almost "grazing" style. Choose as few or as many as you like and they'll be served by both restaurant staff and even one of our chefs. The menu still offers more classic dishes too, mainly cooked on our Josper grill, so if you fancy a traditional main course then the choice is yours! The aim is to offer our diners a more flexible approach to eating out whilst still using the finest ingredients, many of which are grown on our estate and freshly picked each day. Our extensive kitchen garden and glasshouse supply us with a variety of seasonal herbs, fruits, salad leaves and vegetables.
I had chosen Great Fosters purely for it's location and, in the light of some good reviews, in the expectation of good quality food and surroundings .Seeming that there was only one other alternative in the area, I gambled on the Estate Grill.
I can happily report that I made the right choice: service was attentive and helpful, particularly from the enthousiastic sommelier. The dishes were superbly executed, in a way that allowed the very fresh ingredients to be tasted individually, and not feel "overcomplicated". My starter of linguine and mussels was absolutely divine.
We appreciated that we were not rushed and were warmly welcomed. The wedding that was being hosted at the hotel, also did not impose on our enjoyment, as is sometimes the case in establishments like this.

Named in retrospect and translated as the "Beautiful Era", our inspiration for this restaurant emerged from the period in European social history during the late 19th century that lasted until World War,It became recognised as the "golden age" - a time when new technologies and medical discoveries were found and when politics, art and literature underwent radical transformation. In Paris, restaurants achieved a new splendour and cachet for one to parade and where fashion began to move in seasonal cycles. In the culinary sense this period is enormously relevant to our philosophy of progression, optimism and very modern. We would like to think this beautiful era is strongly characterised by our cooking which is rarely serious yet rooted in classical French cuisine and have extended our repertoire to embrace some exciting 'outward looking' far eastern variations.
Private room for 16 of us fantastic food and good wine.
I thought the Bellini & canapés reception was great.
Our main course of roasted loon of rabbit wrapped in iberico ham with flamed langoustines was exceptional.
Service was of the highest order.
Overall must go back.

Its hard to believe that Bar 163 has been in Egham since 1984. More than twenty years on, 163 looks and feels as fresh as ever and continues to attract a varied crowd of young and not so young, professionals and students alike. Originally a bar with food the menu has become so popular over the years that we can safely call Bar 163 a restaurant the Mediterranean inspired dishes have a real taste of summer, exactly what youll be after if you find yourself lucky enough to nab a table in the relaxing secret garden. But despite the food the relaxed, lively bar vibe remains, making this Eghams most well loved venue.
Disappointing visit for Sunday breakfast. Cold toast with no butter. I ordered egg and avocado muffin with tomato salsa. It was a fried egg on cold muffin with a couple of slices of avocado covered in freezing cold pasta sauce. Hot chocolate was nice. Service terrible, very slow and waitress yelling across restaurant to the bar for orange juice. Don't bother for breakfast.

Having read so many good reviews
we thought we would try on Friday night. We turned up without booking a table and luckily someone was just leaving .
The waitress came with menu and took orders for drinks which arrived quite promptly. We had 3 mains we had creamy paste with vegetables ,Cesar salad and pizza The paste had grated carrots which I have never had before and the paste turned stodgy (not nice)
Cesar salad was nice but could have done with bit more chicken.
Pizza was nothing special and I am sorry to say it but it could have come from supermarket. I really was expecting a delicious pizza but no very disappointed.
Maybe it was just one off.
Will give it try again soon just in case.

My six friends and I visited this restaurant last evening for dinner. The welcome was good, the staff were polite and attentive. We had the house white which was delicious, my friends and I ordered various starters and main courses. All of which were really tasty. There was a slight delay in the pizzas coming to the table, but this is only an observation more than a complaint. The food was nicely presented and everyone agreed that all the food was really delicious. We were the last people in the restaurant and never felt under any pressure to leave, even though it was snowing outside and I'm sure the staff wanted to get home. I would definitely go again.

At leftbank there are stunning views of the river Thames from wherever you're dining. Linger over gorgeous seasonal food all freshly cooked and served buffet-style so you can help yourself to a little bit of this, a lot of that...you can tuck into three, four or five courses! The food style is English with gorgeous international influences and it's all prepared freshly for you by people who love food. The wood-fired oven, rotisserie and hobs are always in action - a theatre of cooking right before your eyes.
We have been to the Leftbank Restaurant many times, we had initially heard a rumour that there was a buffet style restaurant that produced high quality meals, it sounded too good to be true.... it wasn't.
Entering the hotel you are welcomed with a luxurious feeling, this continues when you are met by the leftbank serving staff and are escorted to your table in very pleasant surroundings (even more so in the summer when you are able to view the thames)
You will be asked if you have visited before, if not the waiter/waitress will explain how the buffet works and you will be invited to help yourself, all super relaxed.
When you do head to the buffet, make sure you check out all of the mains on offer before committing to anything, you can eat as much as you want, but unless you have a bottomless pit for a stomach then you will fill up quickly. The salad bar is a particular favourite, we always wish we had passed on main and gone back for more.
One thing you MUST do is leave space for puddings, the selection is amazing, and I don't think we have had a bad one yet. The crème brûlée is amazing btw!!!
Occasionally they will have a build your own pizza option for the kids, this has turned our little fussy eater into a pizzaholic!
It's not cheap to eat there, but I have never left feeling it was not good value. I can't say enough good things about this restaurant, we and everyone who we introduce it too love it.

The Lock Bar & Kitchen located on the banks of the River Thames right beside the 'Bell Weir Lock' offers a sense of occasion without pretence, in a relaxed and informal setting, perfect to enjoy with friends and family. Expect home style cooking with dishes that are well known and loved; nothing fussy or complicated, just straightforward hearty dishes, prepared daily from the highest quality, fresh ingredients. The menu changes regularly to reflect the tastiest seasonal produce available with daily specials featured on the blackboard. Alongside the regular menu, every Sunday lunch the restaurant will be offering three courses for £25 which includes a starter and dessert and the roast of the day!*
Now the children have grown up, my wife and I are starting to explore 'the outside world's a bit more.
As a change from our more usual type of dining location, pubs, carverys, Harvester's etc, I decided to try something new, and booked a surprise meal out for us at the Lock Bar and Kitchen restaurant, at the Runnymede Hotel.
Pulled into the car park and it was full of Mercs, Porsches, etc so started to wonder if this was such a wide choice.
As soon as we walked in we were met with a warm and friendly greeting, and shown to our reserved table. Lots of people dining, that looked a lot more used to this kind of setting, so the feelings of a little out of place surfaced again.
Service though was excellent. Very polite, felt like we were guests just the same as any other. The menu, very good. Not over cluttered, just something that would suit most people's taste buds. Food was presented very well and tasted as good as it looked. What really made a difference was that we were not constantly interrupted by someone asking if everything was okay with the food, and the fact that in spite of the restaurant being busy, we did not feel that we had to talk above everyone else, just to be heard. A very enjoyable experience.
Thank you for looking after us. Looking forward to returning.

I've reviewed this before and the place just keeps impressing me.
Without booking we managed to get a table and for a start the service was excellent!
The food was also excellent with the mussels for starters being a meal on its own.
My other half had the ANTIPASTO MISTO for starters and that was also a fabulous array of different bits and pieces.
The main were very good as well.
I hate giving such a good review as I might not get an unreserved table next time but this place totally deserves a great review.
Thanks

We re-opened the Three Horseshoes back in 2009 and haven't looked back since! A mixture of old and new, the Three Horseshoes Laleham is now enjoying life sitting well and truly at the top of its community. We have created a smart and comfortable pub with a great range of beers and fresh food, where drinkers and eaters alike are looked after with the same friendly and professional service.
I'm a returning customer, but had to write a review for the wonderful Valentine's Meal my wife and I had last night. The sharing fish platter was tasty, as was the vegan curry and the Cumberland sausage, topped off nicely with a cherry fudge brownie.
What particularly made it special was the service. Our waitress was superb: she was warm and friendly, while being super efficient with an uncanny ability to anticipate our needs. It helped make the evening more special.
