Went for lunch and ordered the gourmet seafood pizza. Vic’s usually maintains a high standard of food but today was disappointing. Plenty of prawns and a good topping cheese but bland, in fact virtually no taste at all. It needed a good dose of seasoning to bring it alive. There was also no sauce base adding to the lack of flavour. As I said Vic’s usually does much better than this.

The Jolly Miller story began in the early 1990s with a humble bakery patisserie in the small country town of Gisborne in Victoria’s Macedon Ranges. The word soon spread and there are now Jolly Miller Cafes across the state offering quality barista coffee and wholesome food.
We stopped for an early Saturday morning breaky with our puppy and was pleasantly surprised. We have been to jolly miller before but something has definitely changed. The service was great, fast and friendly. Our order was delivered quickly to our outside table and we...MoreWe are glad you enjoyed your Saturday morning breaky Michelle, and happy your puppy was able to experience our great service :) Thanks for the review and we can't wait to have you visit again! - The JM Team

Cheeky kebabs was recommended and with great reviews we just had to try it.
Generous size, great bread and friendly but that is where positives end.
Meat was dry and lacked flavour. Although there appeared to be generous amount of garlic sauce added we could hardly taste it. Lots of lettuce but little tomato and onion. Three thin small bits of tomato on large kebab, so little I couldn't really taste tomato. Given tomatoes currently under $4kg didn't expect such stingy amount.
50c extra if you want chili sauce added is a bit hefty.
Overall disappointed. Given the positive reviews assume it must have been a bad day as that many people are not likely to get wrong but can only comment on the average kebabs we got.

Arrived couple weeks back without booking but had to be turned away - now know why :)
Returned couple of weeks later.
Family dinner - shared couple of entrees and shared mains.
Super experience.
So many lovely choices - all dishes were full of flavour with fresh ingredients and suitable kick. Nothing overly Westernised.
Some import beers added to experience.
Look forward to return visit. So many different choices.
Staff were genuinely friendly and experienced staff happy to share details on different ingredients.

Macs is fairly uninspiring and probably occupies a space that is 1/3 too large to give it the feel that it seems to be aiming at. The kitchen certainly seems large enough to cater for a much more extensive menu.
The couches are a nice touch but once past that, much of the café has featureless white brick walls, with a pastel print and a few landscapes added.
We chose a burger and a schnitzel roll. The burger was a thick lump of meat that could have been flattened a little to make it easier to eat. The schnitzel was one of those manufactured ones with more crumb and batter than meat. Both orders were served with little visual appeal but were accompanied by a very generous serve of chips.
It really wouldn’t be hard to stand out from the crowd by making the schnitzel in house with a coarse herb crumb and a moist chicken thigh fillet.
It may just me but I also really don’t think it is appropriate, or sends a good signal when one of the two front of house staff sit at a table to eat their own lunch during service.
Is this really one of the best places to eat in Sunbury?

I visited the Olive Tree Hotel bistro for dinner on Saturday night for a family birthday. The decor and atmosphere was good and the bistro is obviously popular as it was booked out.
Our table of 18 started on toasted cheese and garlic bread which was quite nice. For mains I had the ribs, wings and pork belly plate which was sensational! Well worth the price of $32 and a substantial meal. My wife and other guests had the chef's special of Deep Blue Seafood platter for one. That contained battered flathead fillets, battered scallops, seared prawns, salt & pepper calamari, accompanied with chips and salad. They were quIte happy with that. Overall everyone enjoyed their mains. My daughters decided to have dessert which all cost $10. They also appeared to be very nice and substantial.
This was my family's first time at the Olive Tree bistro and we all agreed we wouldn't hesitate in coming back.
Enjoy!
Cheers, Paul
