Chads Theatre was founded just after the First World War as Cheadle Hulme Amateur Dramatics Society, performing in different venues in the Cheadle Hulme area. In October 1959 the members opened their own premises and have continued to develop the Theatre ever since, providing a first class venue for its members and patrons. In 1982 the name officially changed to Chads Theatre Company. Chads Theatre has a wardrobe department with costumes available for hire to other theatres and to also the general public. There is space available to hire for meetings, parties & much more. Chads Theatre has a fully licensed bar.
Excellent production, one of the best I have seen at Chad's. The audience were crying with laughter at the antics of this farce. I think it is so difficult to do comedy, but the performers pulled it off brilliantly. We thoroughly enjoyed this evening. Thank...MoreThank you so much for taking the time to right this lovely review! We do appreciate it, and we hope to welcome you again very soon. As others have already mentioned, this is a small museum, but I see that as a good thing as you can spend a couple of hours there and see everything in plenty of detail.
Housed in a modern building with excellent parking and first class wheelchair access, the exhibits are all on the ground floor (or outside!) but the cafe on the first floor is also easy to get to if you are a wheelchair user. The staff are very friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. Highlight for me was the relatively new replica of a Lancaster cockpit - outside of the East Kirby museum in Lincolnshire this is probably the only way most people will be able to experience what it feels like to sit at the controls of Avro's and Roy Chadwick's masterpiece.

A friend kindly purchased a voucher for my wife and I. We found the experience interesting particularly the details about how the waste products are recycled so imaginatively. The guide was very knowledgeable and answered all questions in a open manner. I have been on several brewery tours and this one compares favourably in most aspects.

Carved into the natural sandstone cliffs, the intriguing network of underground tunnels offers visitors an unparalleled insight into life in wartime Britain in the 1940's. Visitors have the opportunity of learning about the experiences of local people during the war from the displays in the tunnels and from the state-of -the-art audio-guides and to find mementos of the 1940's in our shop. Keep up to date by following our museums on Facebook at facebook.com/stockportmuseums and Twitter at @SMBC_Museums.
We visited today for the first time & we were not disappointed. Upon entering we received a warm welcome from the two ladies inside. We paid £5 per adult & £3 odd for my Mum who’s classed as a concession. After paying we were handed our audio tour devices & show how to use them. This couldn’t have been simpler. A 5 minute video show starts the experience & from there you enter the air raid shelter underground tunnels. It was in parts very moving to hear the stories shared & the whole experience is one I’d highly recommend. I wouldn’t say younger children would find it particularly interesting, but parts are assessable to less able bodied persons. The tunnels are pretty level so I’d say once you are down in the video room, you are good to go. There is also a small gift shop inside. We parked up the hill & walked about 5 minutes down hill to the venue. Parking is available along the street but you’d need to get there early to get one of those spaces. We were inside a little over 1 hour, so I’d allow yourself an hour & a half at least to complete the experience. I highly recommend it.

This spectacular flight of sixteen working locks - surrounded by some beautiful wooded countryside and scenic walks - raises the canal 209 feet to reach a height of 518 feet above sea level at Marple.
We enjoyed a 3 mile round walk taking in the 16 locks and aquaduct of the Peak Forest Canal and Marple town and Memorial Park. We parked for free at the bottom of Brabyns Brow near Marple Station but there is also plenty on-street parking sloe the canal. The canal toe path was generally well maintained with a few short muddy sections after the recent rains. Further engineering work was in progress to improve the toe path and maintain the locks. Both the flight of locks and aquaduct are historical engineering wonders which can be viewed up close.

We booked a multi sight ticket and included was a tour of the Hat works. Our guide was brilliant and managed to entertain our reluctant 11 year old son .It was a fascinating history and the process complex. The displays are interesting and very well...MoreThank-you for your review. Its great to hear you all enjoyed your tour. The cafe currently operates on Sundays only 12noon - 3pm and serves fantastic soup, crusty bread, fabulous coffee / tea and sweet treats.

Good price entry cost us £12 for 2 adults and a 3 year old, small selection of animals but enough for little ones can't imagine older ones being fussed, nothing really to do in there other than pony rides, a small game of toy archery and an indoor play area (all which you have to pay for) however what really bugs me is when places are run by kids, I don't think I saw any staff over their teens which is fine but the ones I spoke to came across pretty ignorant and ill mannered, they have an indoor holding for chickens/rabbits and my daughter waited around 10 minutes to hold one because the young girl who works there was messing around seeing how many chickens she could balance on her arms! So wouldn't return for those reasons.
