We visited with a local guide which helped us to tour at our own pace. There is plenty to admire and the introductory film showing the construction of the site is an excellent start.
The Game of Thrones theme will attract many people this season but we are not fans and still enjoyed seeing the sculptures and depictions as well as the cinema, chapel, bar and restaurant.
Not sure I would want to stay in the hotel overnight, but to tour for an hour or so is well worth doing and not too expensive on local standards.

Really glad that we managed to go for the 10km husky ride. Is an experience for both me & my husband. We pre-booked our safari directly with Rami's huskies (much cheaper than tagging onto other safari company), and were greeted by one of the guides at the door front. Firstly, we were given clear instructions of how to control the sledge. After which, we were led to our sledge & met our ultra-hyper excited and energetic huskies. The non-stop Barking and excitement really made us "WOW" in disbelieve!! These huskies only stopped Barking after they started running. Love the ride, and both of us had the chance to be the driver. Amazing experience. Those huskies were well-trained.
After the ride, we were given ample time to play with all huskies, before we had some snacks and chat in an indoor tepee with fireplace, followed by more time with huskies before saying goodbye. Would recommend anyone to go for huskies Safaris.

This company, which translates as Kätkätunturin Erä ja Luonto in Finnish, provides programme services all year round based on previous booking. In winter safari including reindeer ride, ice fishing and salmon soup is the most popular one. Additionally, also snow shoe excursions and Wilderness skills competitions are available. In summer one can enjoy sauna and fishing on our lake, marking reindeer at the farm, hikes in the bog or hunting geese, and other fowl.
Wonderful experience with the reindeer ride, ice fishing and snow shoeing. Even better that one of the group member caught a fish that was later shared with everyone.

We did the 10km safari - our party ranged from age 9 to 70 and we all had a wonderful time. We were collected in front of tourist information in Levi and it was about a 20min drive to the huskies. We were given instructions on how to drive the sleigh etc., it isn't too hard and the dogs are very well trained and behaved. My two kids went with the guide in the front sleigh and had a ball - came back with all sorts of information. The dogs couldn't wait to get going and were so excited, jumping and Barking - nice to see. The safari was really beautiful as expected and very peaceful. Half way through the trip you are given the option to change drivers and our guide took photos of everyone with their own cameras. I loved the fact it didn't feel like a commercial Enterprise. It was a 'mild' day but was still bitterly cold so dress very warm and would strongly recommend 'toe warmers' as our feet got very cold. Warm juice was served afterwards. The dogs were really friendly and the kids loved them & were loved back! The whole trip including transport there and back was about 2.5 hours. Would highly recommend even though it is costly.

Fantastic holiday organised by Canterbury Travel. Four day visit to find Santa at Luosto. From the moment we arrived at Gatwick to board the Santa Express, everything was thought of, The Elves were brilliant, Food and Accommodation Fabulous. The Children were catered for every step of the way, the Elves created the Story and kept the momentum going. Mrs Claus Reading three very sleepy children a bedtime story on Christmas Eve, will be a great memory for them, and then the magic of coming face to face with the Big Man himself. Very Authentic. Right to the last moment - as we left the resort, on our way to the Airport, there was Mrs Claus, Santa and a Reindeer by the side of the road waving us on our way. Well done Canterbury Travel. Devil as they say is in the detail, they did it so well

My partner and I went for a husky safari with Giewont Adventures while in Levi in Feb 09. It was the most amazing experience. The company is family owned and run by Bartek and Pauliina who are a professional dog racing couple and genuinely nice and friendly people. Their dogs (all 90+ of them!!) were absolutely beautiful, proper huskies, and they had a bunch of really small cutest ever puppies to look at too. We went on a 5km ride which is about half an hour or so. You can either drive your own or share with your partner/friend etc. Driving is not hard at all and it's heaps of fun. Dress warm the day we went was -20 and we came back frozen but with a massive grin on our faces. When we finished we had warm drinks in a kota (traditional finnish wooden house with fire). When we were there they also had an onsite photographer who took really good pictures of everyone driving and you can buy these when you finish as they are already printed.
There is lots of husky operators to choose from in Levi area but some are not in such nice locations and combined with the friendly service we recieved from Bartek and Pauliina I would reccomend Giewont Adventures to everyone.

The Särestöniemi Museum environment consists of several buildings, of which the most important are the Särestöniemi family farm and Reidar Särestöniemi's studio and gallery. Old and new mix and match in the museum area. The Särestöniemi farm from the 19th century represents the traditional way of building in the North of Finland, whereas the gallery and studio, both designed in the 1970's by the acclaimed Finnish architects Reima and Raili Pietilä, join the tradition of modern Finnish architecture and its ideal of harmony with the surrounding environment. The personality of Reidar Särestöniemi has been used as the starting point for the newer buildings in the Särestöniemi area. The studio, where the artist both lived and worked, was preceded by an earlier studio that was destroyed by a fire in 1977. The foundations of this old studio can be seen in the museum area.
This is a museum of a well-known finnish artist, Reidar Särestöniemi. I adore his paintings, that's usually the reason to visit a museum=)) but unfortunately there are not so many paintings...That's really weird. But nevertheless the place is big and interesting, u can see where and how he lived and worked. Attention! On the territory of the museum u walk mostly along forest trails, a bit rocky, so sometimes it's really difficult to move with a stroller and I reccomend aged people to have some assistance. I'm also not sure it is really accessible for disabled persons.

Drive to Pokka village from Sirkka (Levi) via Kongas to road 955 to Inari. At Pokka village, road to the left (Taatsintie).
This is a beautiful place year round in Pokka Lapland. If you go here, you should also stop at the Pokka town which is only a gas station / bar but they have really good lonkero there!

LOCAL Lapland - EXPERIENCE EVERYDAY LIFE WITH FINNISH FAMILY ALL YEAR ROUND Authentic Experience in Lapland Finnish Culture Local Food, People and Events Historical and Inspiring Environment Silence Handicrafts Enjoying Outdoors and Nature
We had such a wonderful time with Kimmo, Olavi, and Paula. Kimmo and Paula are wonderful hosts, catering to our every need. Before we even arrived, Kimmo and Paula were busy coming up with an itinerary that would work the best for our family (an outdoorsy husband, a craft-and-food-loving wife, and two energetic boys with picky palates). Each meal was absolutely excellent (and to tell you the truth, I was rather surprised, since I had originally thought that Finnish food was supposed to be rather bland). We went snowshoeing, to a reindeer herd, sledging around Kaukonen, and we learned how to make Finnish treats like Pulla bread! I also was able to weave a beautiful table runner that I got to take home with me...talk about an amazing souvenir. Although we would spend hours a day with Paula, Kimmo, and Olavi, we never felt like we needed "alone" time. They were so warm and we talked about several things ranging from world events to Finnish culture to podcasts. So, yeah, this was one of my favorite trips I have ever taken. And the cherry on top of this beautiful sundae? Our very own private sauna!!! Go to mummola travels for an incredibly rewarding experience.

You need to walk under 10min from your car to reach this beautiful spot. There is a lake, little water fall, bonfire place and rocks that will rock your boat. I really love this place and it suits for kids too as its easy to reach.
