We will show you many ways how you can experience perfect vacation in the mountain village of Filzmoos in the province of Salzburg in Austria.
Very friendly and competent. We inquired about varIons hikes in the area, suitable for families with kids and were given good advice.

Definitely an intense experience, especially if you have fear of height. Otherwise you have the same view from the bridge as from anywhere else, except that since it is a cable bridge, you may feel that you walk in the air - well, I didn't... Probably my experience is also shadowed by the fact that the place was full of tourists. Of course, I couldn't blame them, being a tourist myself, too. If you want to get rid of the crowd, you should jump into your hiking boots and there are some peaks to climb, very near the Gondola station.

This lake is a charm! The lake itself, its surroundings, the Dachstein Mountains over it - all is natures best and we found out through a leaflet we spotted in our hotel.
There are different ways to go to Gosausee from Salzburg by public transport:
There is the frequent bus 150 to Bad Ischl, 1 hour, and from there to Gosausee bus 542 (maybe a change in Hallstatt Gosaumühle), 50 minutes and about € 15. If you start early you can include Hallstatt (change bus in Hallstatt Gosaumühle).
Upon reaching the lake, we took the cable car to the Gablonzer Hütte and enjoyed some great views. There are many hiking trails (maybe to long for a daytrip), a short and easy hiking trip to Hinterer Gosausee.
Highly recommended!

Bodensee (Styrian) is a small Alpine lake close to Schladming. It is completely surrounded by Mountains and this makes the landscape more spectacular. The full tour around the lake lasts for about 30 minutes (slowly) and you may add another half an hour to visit the waterfall. Maybe of equal interest is the performance given in the water by thousands of Forellen. Usually I plan half a day for Bodensee and it is better to be a sunny day but it is also nice during bad weather. Fishing is not allowed and swimming is not indicated.... Cold water. There is no boat cruise on the lake but you can rent small boat (ask at reception of Forellenhof) and drive yourself). Find below some details.
1. Access to Bodensee: on Alpine road from Haus bei Schladming (that I recommend) or by Aich, both along B320.
2. Follow the Alpine road. The one that starts in Aich is narrow and indicators are lacking in many branching points. If not indicated, follow the rule "always up".
3. From the parking you have to walk down about 10 minutes till the lake. Cars are not allowed and this is very good. Parking is free of charge.
4. The tax is 3 Euro per person (1 Euro for children), free admission with Schladming Sommercard.
5. Forellenhof restaurant is excellent (nice location, Panorama from the Terrace, good food).
6. If you travel to Liezen-Graz, you may use the road to Aich (6 km) and Grobming (13 km) on the same B320.
You may combine this trip with a half day in the swimming bath from Schladming, Aich or Grobming.

We took the Private Shuttle from Cesky Klumlov to Salzberg, and Salzbert to Hallstatt on the following day.
They are very responsive with emails enquiries. I booked 2 months ahead, and only paid minimum sum as deposit via online payment 2 weeks before the trip. I choose to pay the rest by cash on the day just in case they didn’t turn up.
Few days before the trip, Daniel reached out on the pickup location & timing, and the driver turned up ahead of time for both days.
The vehicles were clean, spacious & comfortable, and the rides were smooth. It will be even better if they could accept credit card upon pickup instead of cash settlement.

My wife and I have been coming to Filzmoos off and on for 26 years, and learned to ski here together with our children.
Filzmoos now boasts 3 ski schools - the Bögei school has a spacious children's area, the Exklusiv focuses mainly on adults, and the original Filzmoos (Schoerghofer) school where we learned
appears to cater for all.
All 3 are within walking distance of the central village hotels and apartments, so it is easy for parents to drop off and collect their kids.
Filzmoos is an exceptionally pretty village with the Bischofsmütze as a backdrop. At 1060 m the village is about 200m higher than many other Salzburg resorts, it is near the Dachstein glacier and at the end of a valley. This gives it an advantage when it is cold and snowy, as it receives more snow than its neighbours. In a mild winter its maximum height of only 1600m, and its lack of a mid station can be a disadvantage, although there are enough snow canons to virtually guarantee skiing on the Rossbrand, Großberg and beginners areas.
When all the runs are open as they are now there are few finer resorts than Filzmoos.13k of connected piste may not sound a lot but the runs are spread over a wide area and it is some 4km from the bottom of the Schwaigalm/ Geierberg runs back to the Rossbrand. Half of the runs are red, keeping intermediates happy and there is a superb blue cruising run down to the Schwaigalm t bar. This week the skiing conditions have been excellent with uncrowded pistes. 3 times weekly there is a return bus to Flachau/ Flachauwinkel from where you can ski to Zauchensee,Wagrein or Alpendorf.
There are great traditional mountain huts in Filzmoos - our favourite being at the top of the double chair lift - and severalvillage bars/restaurants particularly the Happy Filzmoos opposite the nursery slopes where Happy Potato is still on the menu after 25 years plus. There is an Italian restaurant and fine dining is available at the Hubertus.
In January there are 2 balloon festivals, this week up to 45 balloons take to the skies every morning in a competition sponsored by the Hanneshof hotel.
Langlaufers are also well provided for,and there are sleigh rides and winter walks available.
I could go on and on. Suffice it to say that if you bring you come here for a family skiing holiday you may end up like us, coming back again and again and now planning to bring our granddaughter here. A great little family skiing resort.

I am scared of the heights but, believe me this one is must do on your list. Best to do it on a sunny day so you can see everything, and it is beautiful. Minimalistic and according to nature. Do it!!!

I loved this place. My kids loved this place. After a long day skiing, my wife and I enjoyed a soak in a heated outside pool while it snowed on us. There was a laser light show that my kids enjoyed. I highly recommend this place.

Was there twice the past month (july) and never got a ticket. Tourists staying in the area get one ride free with their tourist card and this blocks any 'outsiders' from getting up to the glacier. It has become a sad tourism trap. People with handbags and high heels can get up to the mountain top, drink a coffee, eat a piece of cake and then take the free ride down again. So, if you don't book your ticket in advance, forget even going there. Big shame! First Hallstatt, now this place - going down the drain. If you are a good enough trekker, there is a trek up the mountain, pretty much just below the cable car - but you really need to know how to move on rocks, otherwise don't try.
