Maestosa Johanna Maier celebrates in the tiny world of a village in Pongau at 1,000 meters altitude the great, grand world of high cuisine.
This place has such a "ruf" or reputation that I simply had to try it, the restaurant itself is beautiful, classy and stylish. The service is excellent if a bit pretentious. The food for the most part lacked that certain something, and I have eaten a number of the best restaurants in Austria, not to mention elsewhere. There is also no set wine accompaniment so you end up paying a small fortune when you have had your aperitif and wine with each course. If I pay a small fortune I expect the best, sadly, this was not the case, my husband was of like mind. There was just something missing, taste wise. otherwise it was lovely.

We don't stay at this hotel but on a sunny day love to sit at the outside tables with a drink and watch the skiers coming down the slope opposite. Martin the waiter is very friendly and welcoming, so much so that we returned 3 or 4 times during our holiday last week.

This is a few hundred metres from the village centre but certainly worth the beautiful walk. The menu is varied and traditional food of lovely quality. Very reasonable pricing too. Good parking if the walk is too strenuous but care not to miss the signposting on the way up which should not deter you - we have visited for eveniing meal and lunch and both times meals and service were faultless.

We know this restaurant well, having visited it each year we have skied in Filzmoos since 1988. We always make sure we pop in especially for our favourite tyroler grostl, a frying pan of potato, cabbage, red onion, bacon and topped with fried egg. Good for kids lunches too. You won't be disappointed. Sometimes booking recommended even for lunch.

We visited this mountain restaurant whilst walking at Rittisberg, but it is just as easily accessible in the winter if you are cross country skiing. Friendly family run service, with the son occasionally entertaining with the accordion between serving and clearing tables. Good food at reasonable prices. There looks to be good quality and value accommodation available in adjacent buildings. All in all a fabulous Austrian mountain hut and worth a visit. Don't expect to drive here, though there is a dirt road available for the special occasions that they offer.

This hotel restaurant is situated on high ground at about 3,900 feet altitude, around 500 feet above the village of Filzmoos. The Panorama bar / restaurant has the most amazing views of the surrounding hills and Mountains. We just stopped for ice creams during an afternoon walk and found very welcoming staff and quick service.

Looking forward soon to going back to the Burgerbergalm - a wonderful dark, wooden, warm comfortable place on the slopes above Radstadt, I've been in swisher, flashier places but this one sits very easily in my favourite places to sit and eat and just be. You can find better everythings elsewhere but that doesn't matter...... I can breathe, watch the Mountains, eat and drink.......

we visited several times during our Christmas 2015 visit... it is a very cozy Alpine Huette, with little rooms off to the side where you can sit and have a good Austrian meal and enjoy Austrian hospitality.. the staff is very friendly and the food is delicious ... it is a MUST stop during your visit to the Bishofsmuetze
