Southwest of London is Southampton (Soton to the locals), a metropolitan area centered around the port. However, tucked away on the side streets are ancient gems such as the Tudor House, Mottisfont Abbey, and "God's House," a museum located in a tower in the medieval wall. The ultra-modern Sea City Museum celebrates Southampton's seafaring past and the RMS Titanic. Looking for nightlife? Travelers can dance the hours away with bars, clubs, and live music, all accessible by public transportation.

Style over substance and inept service abound in what could have been a great venue. Whilst the food looked good this was at the expense of flavour and ultimately satisfaction. Inept service resulted in runny egg for a pregnant member of the party and half the drinks order finding its way to the bill but not the table (an experience shared with the table next to us). A veal steak with a runny sauce was served on a wooden board, overflowing salad onto tue table and accompanying vegetables in a mini bowl resulting in the table cloth enjoying more of the (admittedly tasty) sauce than I and the dexterity of a brain surgeon required. My parfait starter was more reminiscent of Sainsbury's own brand than dining out. The result - desert forgone to avoid further disappointment and for only the second time in a decade the tip kept in my pocket.

Spot in the Woods kitchen café is at the gateway to the New Forest. Spending time with us will be to feel rested and revived - a homely, social experience, whether you’re local or a visitor. We don't take bookings so simple arrive and enjoy! Retained by Nina and Gerard Basset, Spot in the Woods is located in Woodlands, Netley Marsh. In a peaceful location, we are ideally located close to the main travel routes - easily accessible and a short drive from Lyndhurst, with ample onsite parking (signposted Woodlands). We are dog friendly and the perfect place from which to explore The New Forest. Experience a tasty all day breakfast, lunch, or simply a cup of coffee and one of Moyra's delicious home-made cakes. With Gavin Barnes at the helm in the kitchen, you can grab a tasty light bite with friends, enjoy a drink in the Sunshine, with an excellent reputation for vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options.
Terra Vina restaurant maintains its serious but relaxed style. Comfortable brasserie layout, a small bar and friendly staff, often lead by charming owner/host Nina Basset. The food is modern, interesting but not pretentious. Do make sure you enjoy the wines. Our party of six had the set menu and also the sommelier selected wines. These rather stole the show, really varied and unusual, matching the food well, and explained with enthusiasm by the sommelier. If you eat at Terra Vina, it is mistake not to explore the wine list. My score of 4 reflects only that I have eaten at Core and Spring recently. In this area, Terra Vina is one of the best.

Traditional English and Greek food. Breakfast, lunch, Thursday Friday and Saturday nights from 18:00 till 22:00 traditional Greek food (mezedes)
We went to this cosy Restaurant with friends on Saturday evening, and what a wonderful experience it was. The staff were very friendly, allowing us to move tables away from the front door, and right beside a nice hot radiator. The food and wine were excellent, and the Meze a must to truly experience all of this restaurants wonderful food. The staff really could not be more friendly and accommodating. We will definitely be back for some more of the same. Thank you to all for an amazing evening.

This was the 3rd or 4th time we had been taken to the Kohinoor by friends who seem to use it rather a lot.
Their confidence/faith in the restaurant is well placed. Every time we have been the quality of the food has been excellent to outstanding. We haven't tried everything, but it is not for the want of trying (and a few more visits).
Highly revommended

The restaurant is clean and the staff is friendly. The staff understands the requirements and proposes to menu to the first-time customers, fitting to their budgets. I had, of course, Fish n Chips and the dish was simply delicious. I also ordered for salad which was fresh n crispy. The staff is welcoming and ensures that the customers are comfortable while eating or waiting for the order. I strongly recommend this place for fish-lovers and first-time visitors. I have also uploaded a photo of their menu.

Taste, sustainability and community are the three main drivers and the motivation behind The Docks Coffee House. They use only the finest beans and leaves for your coffee and tea and source all their food from right here in Hampshire. Their farm to table approach supports a healthier, more ethical lifestyle that they know you will enjoy.
We were pleased when the place opened to get great coffee (and tea) on oxford street. The cakes and savouries from locally sourced places as well as the homemade ones are always welcome ! The recent creme egg brownie was a lovely snowy weather treat!

Max's Bar and Brasserie is situated in the heart of Oxford Street that it is the site of Southampton's cosmopolitan. About Max's Bar & Brasserie There are many Italian or Italian style restaurants in the UK. In our mind there are two types. There's the national chain where everything is decided at head office and made to a particular price point. Then there's the authentic Italian run and owned family restaurants where food is passion and a way of life. We have nothing against the chains but we do things differently at Max's. When you visit Max's you're treated like a family member. You'll often find adjacent tables talking to each other and making friends. This isn't a marketing gimmick. It's just the Italian way. In the kitchen we have Gennaro from Napoli in the Campania region of Italy. Between them they have more than 30yrs experience in the kitchen. Everything on the menu is created with I don't forget to try the world famous Balsamic G&T ,,,
Located in Oxford Street, this is a brilliant family run Italian restaurant. Small, cozy place with a great atmosphere. Max and all the staff were excellent hosts and the food, the best Italian I have had in a long time. Veal was excellent as was the cod and chicken; even the bread was better than elsewher. Very good wine list and a very nice bottle of Gavi was had. I would recommend that you book as it is very popular and I understand why. Excellent place, we will be back again.
