The food is good and the atmosphere is friendly and pub like.
But seeing in the 2,5 hours that we were there they didn't give any official bill to any of the customers makes you think how many taxes these guys actually pay!!!
Black German Economy!

Restaurant situated just outside town, with private parking. It's very cosy and the service is perfect. Kids had wienerschnitzel with pommes frites, one of the best schnitzels we ever tasted. Adults had venisson and a marvelous tender piece of porc. All of the dishes were prepared with mustard, but very delicately. A real discovery! We also had tea and coffee 'komplet'. The tea was prepared at the table and the coffee came in a genuine bone coffee pot. Both accompanied by chocolate pralines with, again very subtle touch of mustard. The wine list is extensive and very reasonably priced. We had two bottles from the 'secrets of the cellar', both spätburgunder and both a revelation. We'll go back when in the neighbourhood.

On a short break in Monschau recently with friends and by chance found this place as we were staying near bye.
Wonderful reception from Brigitte who provided great service, she seemed to speak many languages including English.
The food was lovely with good portions, our friends agreed.
Would recommend and go back again if and when in the area.

Don't be put off by the unappealing entrance and stairs as the room above is beautiful. A very old traditional small room filled with wooden panels and antiquities. Quite a small choice of dishes but some interesting items. All three of us enjoyed our well-cooked...MoreThank you for your review. Best regards Family Thiemann and team

Whilst visiting the Monschau Christmas market we went into this atmospheric, warm restaurant for a mid-morning drink. Four of us had the delicious Gluhwein with amaretto and two had tea. When the teapots came up we could hardly believe what we were seeing. The teapots were lying on their back with the spouts on top facing the celing. You can see by the photo attached they they worked out how to pour from them!

This tiny ice-cream parlour is an absolute must, if you are in for a treat. It has been producing ice-cream for decades and is run by an Italian expert who really knows his job. They don't do dozens of ice-creams, but the ones you find are a dream - strawberry ice-cream is really fruity and not drowned in the overall artificial vanilla taste. Ice-cream is for take-away, but you can also sit down and try their menue card at very reasonable prices.

In a very touristic city like Monschau, and after been seated in two different places and ran away, we entered in this place kind of desperate already. Typical German food as we wanted, and also German prices (the other two were super expensive and unfriendly). Friendly service. A simple bierstube kind of place. Family liked, tasty and good price <=> very good!
