An epicenter of eco-tourism, Manado is a popular spot for scuba diving and snorkeling, especially at Bunaken National Park. Heat your vacation up with a trip to one (or all) of the nearby volcanoes, including Lokon Volcano and Klabat Volcano, then kick it up even further with a Manadonese meal. The people of Manado like their flavors action-packed with tons of spice.

Dived here for the first time and impressed by the variety of dives available. Lots of wall dives, some slopes, drift diving depending on currents/tides as well as muck diving off the Sulawesi Mainland. Large number and varieties of fish, lots of turtles and smaller criters for those who like to seach these out (nudibrachs, crustaceans). It can get busy at times with lots of snorklers from Mainland hotels and there has been some damage to parts of the reef as a result. Despite this it remains an excellent place to dive.

Manado is not small but not too big either. Everytime you drive around, especially to visit or leave the center of the city, you are bound to pass this bridge. And it looks very cool. Definitely could use the picture as instagram.

This is an area where you can find many malls, some Western and some more local restaurants, and some cafes. Some have seaview, some don't.
There's not much happening outside during the day, and most life takes place inside the malls (which are noisy, with music blasting out of loudspeakers and a presenter or two yelling on top of their voice as they market their product). For a tourist, there's nothing really to see.
In the evening, you see more people sitting close to the sea and some VW-vans selling food items at good prices.

I passed this temple during my morning run along the street at Manado Bay, it's a bit hidden, but the building is very beautiful with red bright color. A must see when you are in Manado. Good place to take a picture. Please wear a modest costume as this is sacred place for Chinese community

The tour operator suggested Tunan when we indicated we wanted a waterfall which we can actually experience and have a dip in. And it exceeded our expectations. A short (around 1.5 km) and effortless trek over relatively flat terrain, we were rewarded with a majestic waterfall and there was no other visitors. The water fell into a sandy and shallow pool which meant we could experience and enjoy it completely. Surroundings were fantastic. However, there was no parking and other facilities were very basic. None of these affected our experience though, the waterfall was one of the highlights of our vacation to Manado.

We stopped on the way back from the rip off largest temple, this was s very pleasant bust to a model village very well kept and pretty unhasseled I have to say. It's only one Main Street but beautifully kept and you can visit Gardens and houses however they will seek tips etc but worth a visit if your passing.
