On our drive from Lisboa to Seville we stopped at this church in Almancil. From the outside you would have no idea what was inside. On a google search it said it was closed at lunch from 1:30 to 2:30pm but when the doors didn't open at 2:30 we looked at the sign on the building and it said 3pm. It costs 2 euros to enter the church but after waiting 1 hour for the doors to open we were disappointed that no pictures were allowed to be taken inside, I have taken a picture of a postcard I purchased. So beautiful, worth the stop but be prepared for no pictures. There is a little coffee shop just down the road that you drive by to get to the church were you can have something to eat and/or drink if you need to wait.

As an irregular golfer, an invitation to play in a golf day caused me some consternation, and just one lesson at the academy bolstered my confidence sufficiently to play and I had a great day without embarrassing myself! Looking forward to booking more sessions in 2018.

Vale do Lobo Golf & Beach Resort offers a unique concept in luxury living. 1,500 residential and holiday properties, makes it the largest luxury resort of its kind in Portugal with endless facilities and services in a unique location
This resort was nothing short of first class, unlike one or two others that we played golf at! The course is magnificent, the clubhouse beautiful and the service and ambience was brilliant - definitely to be recommended.

Amazing collection of yachts, all sizes. Lovely walk from Quarteira where we were staying. Lots of restaurants, Irish pub, bars, cafe's and shops to explore. Easy flat walk along the beach boardwalk. It was off season so pretty quiet, but imagine in the summer this would be the place for evening entertainment and night time dining.

So many wonderful flavours in this market. We always buy our seasoned sea salt here and it is requested by friends as a gift to bring back. Cheese, breads, nuts, preserves, fig rolls, the list of great food goes on and on. Different samples to taste. At the end of the market is the fish market. Lots of shops with meat, ceramics and table lots etc around the edges. Good washrooms inside. On Saturday there was a fruit and vegetable market outside surrounding the market. The only problem is trying to find parking.

Voted Best Golf Course at the Portuguese 2011 Travel Awards, Laranjal opened in 2009 as the newest course in Quinta do Lago. Originally an orange grove, this beautiful par 72 championship course is situated in the Ludo valley, just 2km east of the resort. Boasting some spectacular fairways and well-defined greens, Laranjal is renowned for its five beautiful lakes and its abundance of umbrella pines, cork and orange trees. At 6,480 meters in length, the course is challenging and it demands the highest levels of concentration and accuracy. Its distinctive rolling terrain has been expertly designed and manicured to provide a world class golfing experience. Comprising five par 5s, eight par 4s and five par 3s, the course is sown with Bermuda on the fairways and Penn A4 on the greens, guaranteeing excellent putting surfaces throughout the year.
Recommendations led to high expectations but we were left somewhat disappointed. Course was pleasant enough, but overpriced in our opinion, especially when including the price of the buggy. As with far too many Algarve golf courses the pace of play was simply unacceptable. Would not rush back.

Beautiful historic canal systems that you can swim in on hot days. The water is so clear but it is extra cold, so perfect for a hot day in the Algarve! Can get popular on the weekends/holidays with many locals coming with picnics, but there is plenty of room for everyone!
Lots of picnic tables, BBQs, children's playground, walking nature trails....
There is a cafe open until 3pm serving coffee, beer, icecream, etc.
Not sure of the opening times but closes around 8.30pm to avoid campers and vandals. FREE ENTRY!
Can bring dogs if they are easily sociable.
Currently a photography exhibit on display. Sometimes, they host local festivals as they have an Amphitheater.
Sunset picnics are the best! :)

We have been in the area many times over past 30 years but this was our first visit to the Vila
At only €3 each it is a token payment and when we went there were only another 3 people there. We spent an hour looking around the site and in the small exhibition but we found it very interesting and informative.

Family Park specialized in Kart Tracks for all ages and Buggy Safaris with a range of other adjacent services to combine with it. Fun, Safety, New Sensations, Adventure, Groups, Birthdays and all other type of Events.
Karting Almancil is great fun and the tracks are great for racing. Be warned though, the karts get so hot in summer and so do the engines and I accidentally burnt my leg on it! This was on the adult racecourse. Fully recommend.
