Any city that can be the butt of a Simpson's joke ("That's it! We're all going back to Winnipeg!") and simultaneously one of the most vibrant cultural centers in Canada is tops in our book. The city's history of isolation and self-sufficiency means that Winnipeggers are unpretentious and sincere (and fun-loving enough to name Homer an honorary citizen). Though the winters are long and cold, there are plenty of indoor activities to both keep you warm and stimulate your imagination.

Experience the splendour of 529 Wellington, Winnipeg's Premier Steakhouse. The beautifully restored historic mansion offers intimate dining in 8 elegantly appointed rooms, as well as a beautiful 2-tiered riverside Terrace for alfresco dining. 529 serves exclusively Prime Beef, the best available in Canada, as well as exotic fresh fish & seafood. The restaurant is also home of Manitoba's highest rated wine list, Wine Spectator Magazine's "Best of Award of Excellence".
This is a lovely large home turned into a dining experience with many different rooms that take you back in time and has wonderful character. This is a place to go with a group so you can share the assorted side dishes along with your main choice. The quality of menu items is very good and good variety. The staff are helpful and pleasant
A nice place to take your time and enjoy your meal and your company and take you back in time.

Ok - this is a GREAT restaurant.
Outstanding food.
Excellent service.
Amazing value for our hard earned dollar.
Great portion size.
Very nice menu.
The roasted beet salad was delicious and easily enough to share. So good.
I had the lamb shank which was cooked to perfection and so flavourful. The lemon parmesan risotto was perfectly cooked.
My wife had the gnocchi with braised beef short rib - probably one of the best dishes we have ever eaten in a restaurant.
We cannot wait to go back.

At Maxime's the warm, inviting atmosphere provides the perfect setting for every occasion. The family still emphasizes freshly prepared classic favorites & engaging hospitality to create a dining experience that is relaxing, enjoyable and most importantly memorable. It's been our pleasure to serve you for more than 30 years and we thank you for choosing to dine with us.
I love this place. We didn’t eat in the main restaurant, we ate in the lounge. Great food, great service. This restaurant is perfect for the older crowd. Not trendy or too loud.

I recently dined at Cafe Dario for a friends birthday.
While we are at holiday season the evening started out GREAT.
Food presentation was outstanding, dishes great flavor and infused seasonings.
Service was attentive with good knowledge of the menu.
That Was The Good The food
The Bad
Where I was seated to my right was in full view of one of the shared bathrooms.
At numerous times I was left looking at a bathroom door left open with the toilet seat up ????
The staff constantly walked past on their way out of the kitchen seemed not to even notice.
I found this to be very unsettling and glad I didn't notice until my meal was almost finished.
THE UGLY
Before leaving as we leave outside of Winnipeg I paid a visit to the restroom .BIG MISTAKE !!! It was filthy all the way from the dirty wet floor, unclean sink and disgusting toilet.
I leave you with my one thought. If the staff are not able to ensure the cleanliness of the bathrooms would pass a health inspection what does the kitchen look like as it is off view unlike the bathrooms ???
Would not recommend or return but maybe the Health Inspectors should.

My husband loves Mac and cheese so we decided to try this restaurant's "Macaroni Monday" lunch special for $10. The staff are very warm and welcoming. We ordered a basket of large lightly herbed buns, warm from the oven, served with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Then the Mac and Cheese arrived. My husband chose the spicey Italian one (we'll have to go back and try the other choices) and it was gooey and delicious. We also had pizza, prosciutto with Carmelized onion. Definitely one of the best pizzas we've ever had. I can't wait to go back and try more of their delicious Italian food.

I drop by once a month for their mouth watering VJ's special burger and fresh cut home fries. They're absolutely delicious especially eating everything right off the grill. In summer I eat on the picnic table in winter in my car.
I started going to VJ's 43 years ago and they're still in the same some location! Now that is persistence and they got to be doing something well that they're still operating.
Their chilly dogs are my wife's favourite. Milk shakes are thick and made of real ice cream.
Run by a Greek family these folks know how to make good food. Prices reasonable and service is very efficient.
You won't be disappointed so get there especially if you're in the core area next to the Via rail station.

In December of 1999, Stella’s Café & Bakery opened its doors to the Winnipeg market at 166 Osborne Street. The concept utilized the talents and experience of each of the founders, Tore, Lehla, Tomas and Anneen to create a menu and environment focused on in-house baked breads, soups, jam, and sandwiches for dine-in or take-away. Simple, healthy, inspired offerings and friendly service propelled Stella’s to instant popularity. An understated approach and commitment to quality allowed the name of Stella’s to be promoted in the most powerful of manners, by word of mouth. And boy, did everyone like to talk about Stella’s. With the popularity of the first location, expansion became inevitable and, today, Stella’s operates multiple units in Winnipeg, with plans for further development in Winnipeg and beyond. Stella’s has expanded its menu and number of locations, but has never compromised its core values or commitment to quality.

A great place to eat! It can become very pricey if you come hungry and plan on eating as a meal. Worth every penny - as the every single item our group chose was absolutely fantastic. They also really know their food and drinks, and know what foods are safe to eat if celiac.

I recently had two large pizzas prepared and half baked to take out to Beausejour during the festive season. I had long bragged about it being the best and decided to prove my point.
I picked them up on Friday and Derek had them ready with instructions on how to finish cooking them - they were absolutely amazing and I scored a bit hit with my out of town friends.
I have been to the restaurant many times but this take out was by far the most delicious I have ever experienced and I will be doing it again the next time I go because my friends have already requested a repeat. This restaurant uses top quality ingredients and a recipe that must have been scripted by a master chef. Totally amazing pizza and the crust is in a league of its own. Well done Derek - you are for sure the best pizza maker I have encountered in my pizza testing days. Thanks for making me look so good and making sure my comments were supported by a top notch dining experience. It is much appreciated and totally enjoyed by all.
