It' s a beautiful building in a very nice setting. The building is used these days as bistro (party center), art gallery, and, the reason for my visit, the RWE lignite-mining exposition.
This is a very informative exposition on the lignite (brown coal) mining in the area. It's not to big but it does cover all aspects. Also there is a very good movie (also in english) on how the process works and everything whats involved with the mine-works; really worth looking. When stay-ing in the area or if you want to know more of the mining activities in the area it's definitely worth a visit; entry is free.
There is also a very nice garden to stroll around if you have some time to spend.

Monte Mare Bedburg is a delightful modern thermal spa. We only visited the sauna area which was as good as it looks on the website!
We liked the way that it was organised - mixed sex locker rooms, spacious indoor restaurant and rest areas, good range of saunas, big garden and very nice outdoor pool. The one thing that surprised us a little was that there was no indoor pool. We were there on a hot June day and so were happy just using an outdoor pool but I think that in the winter the lack of an indoor pool would be a disadvantage.

We were visiting friends in Lachen spierdorf. We went to Hambach for the day. It was amazing. loved it.
Traditional Bavarian food and drink. Lovely vineyards and vintage cars. What more could you want. We stopped off and had some wine from the area and ate some flamkochen. Lovely day out.

The Brauweiler Abbey is home of a cultural and service center of the LVR. After the dissolution of the Benedictine Abbey at the beginning of the 19th century, the cultural monument went through a varied history - from a hostel for beggars and workhouse to a concentration camp, Gestapo-Prison and state clinic for psychiatry. Today you can follow the historical traces of the almost 1000-year history of the abbey. In addition, the cultural center offers numerous events. Many of the premises can be rented for private and professional purposes.

This giant Gothic Cathedral, which until its completion in 1880 had been under construction for over 500 years, is perhaps Germany's most famous religious structure and includes two huge towers that serve as the defining symbol of Cologne's skyline.
To be honest I am not religious in any way, but even so I can't help but admire the planning and work that went into this superb building over hundreds of years. Externally it is one of the most impressive buildings in the world, but internally it is even more impressive. Well worth a visit.

This lovely little museum is only a 40 minute drive away from the center of Duesseldorf. If you're interested in classic cars and although you might have never heard anything about the French brand "Rosengart", I can really recommend a visit to this museum, where you get a personal tour guided by the devoted and enthusiastic collector of Rosengart cars, Mr K.H. Bonk. The museum is only open from March to November, and only on Saturday and Sunday. You can have breakfast in the beer garden or the bistro (depending on weather conditions) from 9.30 am, the museum opens at 11 am.
Mr Bonk has been collecting these cars for over three decades now. About 30 of his 47 cars are on display in a barn. The cars are not only museum cars: all of them can actually be operated. And this is done every now and then.
The museum also features other collectables, e.g. lighting equipment, marine engines, bicycle auxiliary engines from the production of Rosengart company, important documents, the factory archive, and naive paintings by Lucien Rosengart.
Ample free parking is available, the entrance fee is EUR 4.00 per person. If you want to take photos you have to buy five postcards at a total price of EUR 5.00.
What I don't like is the fact that the information about opening times on the official website of the museum is not correct. And they don't tell you in advance how much you have to pay.
