We are more than just a bistro...feel welcome!
I could have given this beautiful place a five for its location, friendly staff and excellent cuisine.
Unfortunately they don't accept any means of electronic payment, credit or debit cards. So I had to give them a two on service.
So be prepared to pay with cash only.
If you go on a business trip with your business payment cards, better go to a restaurant which accepts cards.
Really sad and shortsighted situation considering that their food is excellent and that they are located in a very touristic corner of the city.

No doubt, the steaks are unbeatable. 300g is the perfect size, some males might do 400g, haven't seen anybody yet finishing the half-kilogram ! The sides are ok, nothing outstanding.
'Warning' ! The desert combinations are great, but if you still have room after your steak for more than the small desert platter (selection of 6) - you have done something wrong with your main course. Nevertheless, great value for money - even if you leave some on your desert plate !
The atmosphere is rather noisy. The style of the place - well, can't decide if it is the 'rustic charme' of the 70s or 80s. You certainly shouldn't go there when you are looking for the perfect candlelight dinner or a cozy, romantic place.
Service is average - some good waiters, some less good ones. If you are unlucky, it can take more than an hour to get your main course.
Don't forget to make a reservation. Even during the week, the place reminds of a beehive!

Forget the pizza and meatballs but be prepared for nice selection of starters, nice meat, salads, desserts. The staff, the service is outstanding. We had to wait longer for our table when they served us fresh brusvetta and prosecco to compensate the long waiting time. Again, food is amazing, small but fresh and aleays changing variety !

LOVED Mokka! Staff was friendly, quick and efficient, and the food came within 5 minutes. They had some perfect tables for 1-2 people and magazines and newspapers by the front door for solo diners. Also outdoor Seating. Just tell them your table number when you pay at the cash register at the bar. Great food (and drink selection), great price, great atmosphere and full for brunch/lunch on a Saturday afternoon. Will definitely eat here again on my next trip to Mönchengladbach!!

This is probably just a cultural thing because I've never been to Germany before but boy are they a chatty bunch. The food here was absolutely amazing from the Schnitzel to the fried potatoes. My husband thought it was ordering a beer and they brought him some kind of alcoholic Apple beverage that was delicious. We will be back.

I visit this restaurant every couple of weeks, living and working in the area. I have found that it suits both evenings with family and friends as well as "not-so-formal" dinners with business partners very well.
The atmosphere is very nice with a lot of attention to detail. The staff is really always friendly, nice and attentive. You can sit inside but, when weather allows it, there is a beautiful sitting area outside as well.
Best thing about Gero is the food in my eyes. Exceptionally high quality, creative cooking, ... All friends and business partners I took here so far mentioned how happy they were with the quality of the food! Being a regular of more than two years now, I am happy to experience that Gero still keeps improving so many details every now and then. An example would be the home-made ice cream that they keep improving....
There are three-course-menus as well that offer a very nice price-value-ratio.
All in all a strong recommendation!!

I had to be at the Monchengladbach Football stadium. Nearby I found this Italian restaurant just somewhere in the neighbourhood. Lunchtime and I was the only guest in a modern place. They had made it a little Italian with some pictures on the wall and a big pizza oven. I ordered a scaloppini with mushrooms, rocket and Parma cheese. Some baked potatoes I took as an extra. While I was waiting they brought me a nice glass of red and some delicious fresh baked bread with oil and butter. In a decent time frame they also brought me the plate and it was tasty although a little dry. With a nice expresso and a bottle of water, I paid less than €25,= so actually it is a great place to have a bite.

We didn't have reservation, so I thought we would be waiting for a table or turned dwn, but it was ok. And may I say: OMG huuuge pizzas. It is better for 2 people to split it. And pasta is also delicious. Everything was good,...MoreCiao! Thanks for your feedback! We can offer most of our regular pasta dishes as half portions for kids and to share the pizza with the parents is also an option. Kind regards, your L'Osteria Team

The staff at Hyatt are exquisitely polite and attentive. This level of service is unique in a restaurant of this ctegory. They even went so far as to suggest extra time between dishes so we remained comfortable after the generous portions. The food was sublime: delicately spiced dishes with a syrian accent and inspiration. I can only higly recommend this restaurant. And what a relief to have vegetables, something most German restaurants seem to take pains to avoid.
