Duomo di Monreale

This 12th century metropolitan Cathedral should be on the top of your bucket list when you visit Palermo in Sicily! While its exterior is quite simple, its interior is breathtaking! ... the nave and the side aisles, the choir with three apses, the columns, the marble floor, the main altar, the excellent mosaic, etc.! There is a mixture of the Eastern and the Western traditions in this church.
Outside you must also visit the cloister adjacent to the Cathedral. This, too, is a masterpiece in itself, with its pointed arches, marble columns with patterns in gold and colored glass tesserae or tiles, and so forth. Everything seems to favor silent prayer and meditation about this place. It's a 100% must-visit place in Sicily!

The Cathedral has many details, too many to list. The apses, are impressive both outside and inside. On the outside, the design is clearly arab, another interesting style mix. Inside it is pure magic. Christ Pantocrator fills the central apse with virgin and child below. Lowest tier has saints. It is an amazing sight, and clearly the fruit of many years of many workers' labor. Amen.

Seeing alone is not knowing what and the price for a bit exaggerated entry. Instead seen in the whole of the monumental complex increases the wealth of the place.
To see the exterior Gardens with fabulous trees of all kinds and origin together with the beautiful Panorama. It is located by entering the right side of the square.

Wait till the cruise ship passengers are gone or have not arrived yet and enjoy this little square with lovely Fountain, souvenir shops, cafes... Browse along narrow streets radiating from the piazza and come back to enter the majestic Monreale Cathedral. We came in the afternoon and had a nice walk before the Cathedral opening at 15:45pm.

This museum is all about personal taste in church artifacts and I did not find the museum very helpful. The best thing about the museum was the view over the town and the close up of the Duomo roof that the museum provides. The staff were not very helpful and in fact told us there was a cafe at the end! Turned out to be a coffee machine. We found a cafe in town.

Ciambr'Art

Ciambr'art, as an open-air gallery, aggregation space and sharing, between art, design, architecture and crafts. Inside the Ciambra neighborhood, behind the Cathedral of Monreale, in one of the most suggestive sites of UNESCO, inside the historic Arab-Norman route that links Palermo and Monreale.

Visita consigliata.

AcquaPark Monreale

Reviewed By Salima K - Brugge, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium

We read the comments on TripAdvisor before visiting the acqua park. So we did not have high expectations. But we were pleasantly surprised. Nice clean park with good facilities. Sure not Disney but lots of fun for children. There is a tombola with your entry ticket. At 16h there was a foam party with music and a foam cannon. Our 8 year old daughter loved it. Successful day: happy tired child on the way home
