At Verdicchio Ristorante we create every plate with a sense of purpose. You'll experience traditional flavours while sampling the best from our local Northern Ontario growers. Freshness is key to any great meal. Choose from our Seasonal or 4 course tasting menus that highlight ingredients grown in our backyard and products crafted in the artisanal method. We offer Modern Italian Cuisine and embody the Slow Food concept. Our ingredients are used in their natural form, allowing genuine flavours to shine. When it comes to wine, no other country in the world has as much diversity as Italy. Wine is produced in every region of the country and stands as the best accompaniment to its cuisine. Our all-Italian wine cellar showcases hard-to-find varietals and our newly renovated bar elevates the cocktail experience with its bold design, in-house prepared elixirs and premium liquors. When a family operates a restaurant over the last several decades they learn how to do some some things correctly.
The basics like excellent food and good service become something expected and something delivered.
George and his son Sam have achieved this with an atmosphere similar to visiting old friends.
Always appreciated by staff and thanked by the owners for coming.
It is a experience repeated for visiting guests and regulars.

Excellent Italian and Italian kissed cooking culled from the owners' family archives and travel jaunts recreated as a well worn, well-loved and heavily textured vintage tavern/trattoria experience where heavy upcyling targets informed and shaped this one-of-a-kind design that's both well worn, comfortable, interestingly textured and friendly. Curated eclectic soundtrack to accompany an old school sworn menu replete with vintage Italian tavern and home cooked rustic flavours - fresh traditional pastas of Roman, Umbrian and Tuscan tradition, a quality grill offering of top notch beef, lamb, quail, chicken, fish and pork. Part of the historic zone's Durham Social - a multi-chambered emporium housing several intimate and highly popular concepts, keeping company currently with Red Fang Tavern, Durham Hall and the Roma '71 Bar. An awesome and unique find in a Northern Ontario city's downtown!
We had been coming here since the beginning and are sadly saying goodbye to this once fine establishment. Same experience now, twice! We waited an hour and a half for our meal and finally had to leave without eating. Outrageous!! Hardly a fine dining experience. Never again! I've been hearing this same comment now from several friends. Extremely disappointed.

The food is always impeccable. Excellent service and cozy atmosphere. We frequently go here for a special night out. While I have nothing negative to say about Tommy's (I love it) I would suggest a mini update on the decor and perhaps the introduction of a seasonal menu or something like it for people like me who like to try new things.

The Laughing Buddha was excellent! The food was fresh and the portions were more than adequate. I had a Billy Van Sandwich and the big winner for me was the hummus. Everyone at dinner could not get enough of the hummus! We had to order seconds! My wife had a pizza, she loved it. Everything was excellent! The atmosphere is really good, though a tad dimly lit. That's just being a bit picky, but there's always something!! The best meal hands down while we were in Sudbury was at the Laughing Buddha and I know we'll be back there anytime in town!!

Visiting Laurentian U from ottawa.Curb appeal to me so we decided to take a change and try this restaurant. I had the ravioli -the flavours were amazing and it’s was cooked to perfection. Presentation was awesome too - hats off the the chef -best pasta I have had in years! Definitely be back if I find myself in Sudbury again. Crime brûlée was also delicious and the glass of the Dreaming Tree was the icing on the cake !

We were a large party, celebrating a birthday. The atmosphere was warm and relaxing. The staff were friendly, polite and attentive. The steaks were the stars, though. Every order was prepared exactly as ordered, tender, and delicious. The prices were reasonable. It was a perfect Evening.

the pro's - the restaurant itself is nice, up to date décor and nice ambiance and staff are very attentive
the con's - went there for lunch and found all options very expensive...had the special of that day (gnocchi in a beat sauce) it came with a small salad. Although tasty, it was lunch size and the lunch special of the day... I was shocked when the bill came and it was $20!! wow! I should have asked but never imagined it would be that. By the time I paid for coffee and left a tip, it was a $30 lunch. Who can afford that. The lunch menu items as well were all expensive. The food is good but very pricy.

Ten of us, great helpful service.
Good menu, some of us had the veal special, delicious.
Others had pasta, some with seafood, you can have half portions.
Great ceasar salad and antipasto.
Finished with a good Spanish coffee and crème brulee.
Well priced, found the 6 oz glass of wine a tad expensive at $10.00, and they did not have Sauvignon Blanc.
Great night, will be back.
