Tierpark Walldorf e.V.

Our lovely little zoo is well-known in the Rhine- Neckar- region. The entrance is free of charge.

We enjoyed a lovely day at Tierpark. There is a lovely playground within the zoo for small children. The zoo is very accessible to the public and families can get right up close to the animals to feed them and the children were really enjoying the interaction with the animals.
Animal food can be bought for just €1 per bag.
Tierpark has parking inside and outside on the main road. There is s lovely tree-lined walk within park.
There are cute little timber structures built into the birds enclosures, such as houses and even a church for the ducks!
There is also food available in Tierpark, as it is a little bit away from the main town of Walldorf.
Best of all, entrance is free of charge. I would highly recommend a visit to Tierpark if in the Walldorf area on a fine day.

Schwetzingen Castle (Schloss)

Reviewed By Globetrotter045 - Haacht, Belgium

It is a delight to explore the landscaped Gardens and discover all the temples, fake ruins, statues, Fountains and even a mosque. I saw a lot of birds too: ducks, geese, swans, herons and even a tree full of parakeets. Probably escaped parakeets, who found a new home in the park. It is a huge park and it will take 2-3 hours to see everything. And to rest your feet afterwards, there is a café in the Gardens and another one across the ticket office.
Practical info:
The visit of the Schloss can easily be done as a day trip from Heidelberg, it is only half an hour by bus 717. Several tickets available for visiting the gardens/castle. I opted for a guided tour of the castle and visit of the Gardens = 10 €. Daily tours are in German, in the weekend also tours in English. While the guided tour was interesting for the history, I found the interior of the castle not that impressive. The baroque Gardens are the absolute star here.

Came here for the Sandhausen Vs St Pauli game on a Monday night and the organisation of the transport to and from the stadium was really good. The ground rarely sells out so it is easy to get a ticket and the match ticket covers your travel inside the Baden-Württemberg region. At Sandhausens train station a shuttle bus brings you straight to the stadium and back to the station afterwards. The stadium itself is very small but the atmosphere in the away end was as always fantastic. There is beer served inside the stadium but it is a light beer so it is not as strong and not very nice.

Golf Club St. Leon-Rot

Obviously, it depends what course you are used to. This one is a good course, good conditions, but completely flat, no difficult bunkers or greens or waterhazards, except for a few holes. Great clubhouse with large Terrace and and immense halfway house. This is something that should be mandatory on a golfcourse.
Very easy to walk, great practise facilities, nice staff and Solheim history.

We went here as part of a special evening out during a hobby convention in nearby Heidelberg. Good wine, good tastings and good food. We really enjoyed it--a highlight of our trip to Germany. There is a nice store adjacent where you can buy a number of wine varieties. We're looking forward to having the bottle we brought back for Christmas dinner.
