A beautiful vineyard nestled in the picturesque village of Shoreham and situated wonderfully close to Shoreham village train station which has direct links to Bromley, London and Sevenoaks. A 28 acre estate with 10 acres under vine producing 6 fantastic wines. Visitors are welcome to join us for wine tasting, drinks by the glass or bottle (beers, soft drinks and spirits too) and purchases of wines to take away. We also serve cheese & charcuterie (with pizzas and other hot dishes coming in 2018) so it is easy to enjoy a few hours in our lovely tasting room and courtyard with retractable roof! Also available for private hire for parties and celebrations.
I was given the task to organise a Wine Tasting event for our club. So, 48 of us went and had a wonderful evening on Saturday night. Myles gave a very interesting and knowledgeable talk on the 5 different wines. The charcuterie boards to share were delicious and very substantial as were the generous glasses of wine to taste. I love the venue, sitting at long tables as we did made for a very relaxing, pleasant and convivial evening. My contact at the venue, the lovely Lizzie, answered all my various emails very promptly and willingly catered for the various dietary needs of our party. They even have a Wimbledon type sliding roof in the room to cater for our unpredictable weather !!! I can't wait to go back in the summer and will also pop in for coffee and pizza when in Shoreham. This will also make a great birthday treat for my daughter in law's 40th birthday in September. The whole team was young and engaging and looked after us so well. It made for a very memorable evening. Try it, you will not be disappointed.

Hever Castle was the childhood home of Anne Boleyn, the intriguing second wife of Henry VIII and mother of Elizabeth I. The castle is a romantic double moated 13th-century castle which houses historic 16th-century portraits, paintings, furniture, tapestries and treasures. Comprehensive information on the history of Hever Castle can be found in the guide book and audio tours are available from the Hever Shop, Visitor Centre or castle entrance. Visitors can explore the magnificent Gardens for all seasons which include Italian, Rose and Tudor Gardens, topiary, yew maze and splashing water maze, or take a stroll around the informal areas of Sunday Walk and Anne Boleyn's Walk. Hever hosts a number of special events throughout the season including gardening events with the head gardener and his team. Family fun includes jousting tournaments each summer, one of our most popular events.
Our first visit to Hever. Was impressed with the grounds. They were well maintained. The house and contents were impressive and the staff on hand were excellent. Hope to visit again

14th century, mote created and then the house developed through history.
An amazing place to visit, in the middle of the Kent countryside where the usual excellent NT facilities.
We had the very informative taster tour and then explored the house/mote and gardens- fine photographic opportunity.
What a privilege to visit on a grey mid-March day.
Wonderful volunteers providing that extra mile of information.

My partner & I bought a VIP experience day on Groupon for a ridiculously cheap price. We were greeted by the lovely Abbie, who showed around & gave lots of interesting information on all the animals. Then for the first bird of prey flying display. After that was lunch £5 each towards lunch was included in the price. Then we got to handle an owl and a Harris hawk. After that cuddles with the huskies. Then the second display. Both displays were funny, informative and I got smacked on the head by a bald eagles wing. Didn’t hurt, but shows how close you are to the birds. Absolutely fantastic day, thank you Abbie x. Definitely coming again!!!

The great British statesman, Sir Winston Churchill, lived in this home for over 40 years. Visitors can tour the rose Gardens and see the artwork, books and desk of this remarkable leader.
I had prebooked and paid a timed visit to Chartwell and carefully organized a public transport to the manor from London. After reaching the gate I noticed the signs that they are closed. I can understand that they close for the comfort of their staff but as a place attracting international visitors this kind of total closure for some snowflakes seems quite irresponsible. I was rescued from the gate by two kind older persons who took me to thei car and let me off at Dartford. Naturally I saw the announcement that you should call them before your visit but I could not have imagined that they could not evdn call or e-mail their pre-booked visitors warn about the closure. I quess this was a lesson for me of the Brittish ways. On other hand a cold managerial desicion to close the gates and on the other hand willingness to help a foreigner at a difficult situation with no imminent tranfer back to London which that lovely older couple did. I still would have the possibility to visit Chartwell tomorrow, but as they say "Once bidden twice shy!"

Received a brilliant gift which entailed driving 3 super fast cars of my choice, I chose the Lamborghini, Ferrari and Aston Martin. OMG what a fantastic experience - sleek, super fast, smooth ride describes all 3 cars, but my favourite was the Ferrari, the instructor was brilliant and I had already driven around the track 10 times, so was ready to really put my foot down!
Will be going back to drive the Audi R8, Maclaren and BMW i8. Would highly recommend to men and women alike. Hope Father Christmas reads this!!

We've visited the house yesterday with my partner and are feeling very inspired by Charles Darwin's life. Great to see his family tree and fathers/uncles he was inspired and supported by, his children, diaries which even describe what he was eating on his voyage over the seas...
Anyway, there are also great rooms with games and colouring sheets for kids (next time I should bring my niece).
Volunteers working in the house were very friendly and helpful and the Downe village is also lovely
There is a walk out of the house, through the Gardens, the covered ''hot '' garden with tropical plants (where there was a very friendly volunteer too), and further a nice walk through the woods

Discover the beauty and tranquillity of this enchanting historic family home and Gardens, once the property of Henry VIII. With a unique medieval Baron's Hall, staterooms, and intimate walled Tudor Gardens, that have colour and variety throughout the seasons. Penshurst Place is great for a family day out, with a large wooden Adventure Playground, Toy Museum, Woodland Trail, Garden Restaurant, Porcupine Pantry Coffee Shop, a Gift Shop (open all year) and an events calendar full of entertainment.
Astonishing internal decor. This manor house was built in the fortieth century for a London merchant, and four-times Lord Mayor of London, who wanted a country residence within easy distance of London.

Whenever I am asked "where shall we go for a walk today" by my partner, High Elms Country Park is always a popular favourite. With many routes to take within the ancient woodlands, Friendly dog walkers always great you with a smile as they pass by, and return your greeting. If the weather turns damp, don't worry as the trees seem to bear the rain better than if walking though meadows etc.

I was looking for somewhere to take my two children, 6 and 3 yrs, on a tight budget, and needing to pass a whole day! I looked at a few reviews for this place and decided to try it out! We packed towels and swimming costumes just in case we managed to get a space in the paddling pool and made the 30 minute drive. My expectations were quite low when I appeared to be driving into a housing estate but after I parked I was very pleasantly surprised!
Parking was £3 for the whole day - £2.50 if paying by card. The play area is large and has equipment for all ages and abilities. We arrived at just after 10am and the paddling pool had plenty of space - we made good use of this for an hour before going to get drinks and ice creams - £14 for 3 ice creams, 4 drinks AND a large tube of sunscreen. We then went for a walk around the lake, very pretty, quiet and pretty idyllic, with plenty of space for the kids to run, play, take games etc. We decided to see what the prices of the boatin lake were, I was very impressed with a family pedalo for £6 for a full half hour, I am not sure that this haf hour is even enforced unless it is very busy... a blissful half hour on the lake passed and the kids enjoyed watchin the terrapins divin in and out and meetin the ducks and eese as we floated about. Next we trotted down to the new barn railway and got on board the mini steam train, at £3.50 for all of us, I was again pleasantly surprised by how reasonable it was, we enjoyed a full round trip before the kids had a go on the bouncy castle, £1.50 per child but they were not asked to get off at all, I think the time is only monitored if it is busy, which it wasn't and so they got plenty of time, I had to prize them off with a bribe!
We then made use of the paddling pool again for an hour, the sand pit beyond the pool was large and looked good, it wasn't well used today but I feel that is because it was so hot, everyone wanted to be in the water! We made good use of everything that was on offer, and spent hardly anything! A brilliant day out for us all, and the kids went t bed early as they were so shattered! My only niggle about the whole place was the toilets, the portaloos had no tissue in any of them and were a bit smelly and unflushed. The actual toilets had supplies but were a bit grim, presumably due to everyone favourin these over the portable toilets and not treatin them very well. I would definitely recommend this place, in fact I have via social media, and will definitely return - MANY TIMES!.
