Behind the charming Tudor exterior is a bright, modern restaurant with top notch modern European cuisine. Chapter One has gained enthusiastic reviews from many major restaurant critics and happy plaudits from satisfied diners. Not to mention that it won AA restaurant of the year 2004 and comes along with four AA rosettes. The dining room is relaxed, spacious and comfortable, and the cooking superb. Start with something inventive, like homemade roast gnocchi with braised chestnut, pumpkin and lobster. Then do try the braised oxtail with pancetta bacon and parsnip puree - everyone raves about it. The wine list shows much care and attention too. You will leave feeling well-fed and well cared-for.
My daughter and myself enjoyed a wonderful evening at Chapter One this evening with exquisite food, attentive waiters and beautiful surroundings. The food was delicious and creatively presented and I could not fault the service we received. I would strongly recommend a visit to this restaurant and will be returning myself very soon.

Went for my fiancée birthday and were made to feel very welcome from the minute we stepped through the door. The food matched the level of service and was of high quality and quantity. The owner surprised all of us by singing happy birthday in Italian with a candle in the tiramisu! This is how a restaurant should treat a customer, we will obviously be back!

The renowned and award-winning restaurant, part of the well-regarded Shampan Group, has just reopened after a major refurbishment and the introduction of a new A la carte and drinks menu. A modern and eye-catchingly sleek design, taking inspiration from the group’s flagship establishment Shampan at the Spinning Wheel in Westerham, the upstairs, ground floor dining area attracts with the focal point of a centrally placed bar whilst the basement dining area, the Cinnamon Room, places emphasis on alcoves and intimate booth Seating along with a spacious lounge and Seating area for the downstairs bar. Highlights amongst the new menu include starters such as Pickled Paneer & Pepper Melody (with tomato & chilli coulis) to Tandoor Seared Organic Salmon (with lemongrass & chilli), along with mains including Kerala Spiced King Prawns, Curry Leaf & Coconut Sauce, Coconut Rice, and Shampan’s signature Chicken Masala & Pilau Rice.
I use this restaurant regularly. I’ve tried many other Indian restaurants all over the country over many years but Shampan 2 is one of my favourites. It’s the restaurant that I judge other Indians by and it rarely disappoints in any way. Staff always friendly...MoreDear Steven, Thanks for the review you have left for us. We value customer feedback, your review makes us feel warm inside as it confirms why we love what we do. Look forward to welcoming you back again soon. Thanks Shampan management

ate here last night and so glad we did. delicious food with great service and a lively atmosphere. chose the party menu which was excellent value for money. just choose a main from menu and enjoy a selection of cold and hot starters. i ordered the lamb and my husband the steak. so much meat we took the left overs home in a doggy bag for our dog. steak cooked to perfection and lamb tender and seasoned extremely well. delicious!! also offered complimentary drink at end of meal which was a lovely gesture. included in the party price was a live music and a belly dancer. sadly we left before the belly dancer appeared but will make sure we wait to be entertained on our next visit, which i hope will be soon.

Distinctly underwhelming... forgot my husbands drink in the first round, got the order for one starter wrong, also got the order for one main wrong which meant 7 of us had all but finished before our friend could start his. Oysters not loosened in their shells- kind of basic for a seafood restaurant?? Ran out of Bombay gin... really? The Saturday before Christmas?
Decor poor, shabby and outdated. Nowhere to hang a coat so I had to hang it over the balcony next to me. Still waiting for the water we asked for... there is a sense of “couldn’t care less” about the whole place and in these fiercely competitive times I’d rather spend my money somewhere that delivers high quality food AND cares about their customers. Sorry but I won’t be returning anytime soon.

Went for a change to McDermott's as came highly recommended, it did not disappoint
us the chips were excellent fish on batter very light fish slightly to moist for my taste.
The service was very good friendly staff and plenty of room because of the bad weather as I was advised Friday can be very busy.

Farleigh organised our 40th wedding anniversary party which was a great success!
Adam & the catering team were very attentive and the hot buffet was superb. The DJ,Dean, recommended by Farleigh did a great job and kept the party going to the end.
Everything ran smoothly without a hitch.
Thanks to all the team at Farleigh for enabling us to enjoy an occasion that we'll long remember
