A friend and I visited this building today and joined a very well presented guided tour . The building was the first organised and integrated airport terminal in the world and it also housed the world's first air traffic control tower . It is an attractive , well constructed art deco structure designed by Air Ministry architects and built by Wilson Lovatt and Co. It has a steel frame clad with building blocks and now painted white. Our guide , Norman , was a volunteer who knew a tremendous amount about the history of air travel , aircraft and this building in particular . His tour lasted two hours during which he never faltered in giving a perfectly organised and very well presented talk full of facts and interesting information . He and the group of volunteers who curate the museum here are to be highly commended . There are lots of highlights - too many to name .But the quality of draftsmanship of the cartoons drawn of many of the people who staffed every aspect of the work of Croydon airport in its heyday were very interesting indeed and particularly stick in my mind . Well worth a visit .

The best place in town to walk off your excess Christmas calories! Terrific park with beautiful lake, ducks to feed, swans to watch, Canadian geese to not feed and pretty Gardens. Dog friendly on one side. Although I know parking can be an issue, I always walk here. There's a great little row of shops leading up to the park with a Sponge Kitchen and a few others. Just a happy place to walk or exercise or take your dog. There is also a children's playground. I believe it shuts at Sunset and there are toilets.

This is an excellent park for wheelchairs. The paths are well maintained, but beware a little steep if you are in or pushing a manual wheelchair. The river Wandle meanders through the park, from two large ponds to a beautiful 1.5m high waterfall. The ponds were recently drained for repairs ( and to divert water to the river flow for wildlife), but had been refilled. There is also a great children's playground behind Costa Coffee. Parking is extensive(Access from Carshalton High Street - opposite Coop and Sainsburys). Take a look at the Honeywood tea rooms and the Sutton Ecology Centre for a haven of peace and quiet.

We came across this park by accident and were delighted with the space, landscaping and particularly the area around the lake. The cafe by the children's playground is good, level walking and not crowded. Lots of hidden car parks, as the road by the church can get crowded if there is a wedding. The only problem is that if you try and follow the Wandle Trail to Carshalton and Grove Park, the signs peter out after the perimeter and the trail is none existent! Easy if you have a good sense of direction but we lost the river completely.

When I booked this for my daughter and her friends, I thought that 9am to 3.30pm would be too long and they would lose interest. But, surprisingly, the teenagers loved it and would go back again. The venue was easy to get to by train and the walk up the hill passed quickly. The venue was muddy and the rain came and went, but this added to the excitement. Service was a bit slow but there was near enough 100 mainly young males all raring to go. The paintballs hurt a lot less than I thought they would and the different game areas helped to keep your interest. You get divided into largish teams and you soon find yourself working with people you have never met before. If the weather is going to be wet, definitely bring strong mountain boots and come layered, as you are provided with army overalls and you get quite hot in them. The serious guys have their own kit, but everyone is out to have fun. Overall, it was well organised, the staff know what they are doing and everything seems to run like clockwork. It overran but no one seemed to mind. Food comes as part of the deal, and food and drink can be bought there.
If you haven't done something like this before, it's worth a try.

We had a marvelous day in Bath and the Cotswolds, traveling through small villages and seeing places we'd never go to on our own. David was a safe driver, very punctual, and it was fun to spend a long day with him. FIVE STARS!!!

Took the tube from london to the park after Reading the glowing reviews. Not worth the ride out. Good for a dog park.the town itself, at least around the tube station, is lackluster. The garden shop must be between seasons and is probably great in the spring. I can't recommend this park.

Honeywood Museum

Honeywood Museum is a Grade II listed building next to the picturesque Carshalton Ponds in the heart of Carshalton's Conservation Area. The family-friendly museum re-opened in May 2012 after a complete refurbishment following an HLF grant. It has beautifully restored period details including the Edwardian Billiards Room, Drawing Room and Bathroom. There are Exhibitions which tell the fascinating history of the house and the people who lived there, and an on-going diary of events which illuminate the history of Carshalton, the Borough of Sutton, and a fascinating range of topics beyond. Look out for the delightful collection of Edwardian toys on display in the Childhood Room and visit the lovely tea room and the Museum's shop with its wide range of publications and unusual gifts. Entry is FREE.

Car Car Car shalton. Ahchoo!! Might well have been my reaction had I caught a cold as, on the day I visited the adjoining cafe Spring temperatures had dropped and there was no heating whatsoever...Yet, a brief visit to the adjoining charming museum was to experience some comforting warmth.
My chicken and chorizo pasta was fine though the distinct taste and texture of a pre-prepared microwaved dish was apparent. The cappo was fine too.
It is a charming corner of the town still very much as it must have been in the late 18th and 19th centuries as depicted in pictures viewed in the museum.
Outside lies the pond to which, an illustrative panel confirms, various birds migrate.
It must really come into its own on a warm, sunny day.
It is a pity, perhaps, that the cafe's lack of heating must be based on the presumption that Carshalton may become the epi-centre of global warming?...
