Chitwan is located about 150 km from Kathmandu. Though connected by road better to take flight to nearest airport i.e Bharatpur and then driving for 30 min to Sauraha village. Lots of good hotels are available and they usually offer packages. Make sure that u have a good guide who can help you to navigate. October to March is the best time to visit. Summers are bad in this part of Nepal and hence better to avoid. You can see lots of crocodile, alligators, one horn rhino, wild boar, deers, elephants, peacocks and many more. And if u are really lucky one you can spot a Royal Bengal Tiger too. Make sure that u dont miss out on Canoe riding and Jungle safari. Suggest to take Jeep Safari as it can travel longer distance. Usuallybit takes about 4 hours. You can also try out elephant safari thru the jungle. Please do not forget to carry good camera with long vision lens. Binoculars are also useful, though the guides usually carry those. If you are interested for bird watching then chitwan will surely tickle your inquisition. Overall this is a nice trip for 2-3 days.

It may seem like a simple concept: take a tour of a rural Nepalese village on an ox-cart. However, it is the execution and attention to detail that made my ox-cart ride to the Tharu Village so special.
The first step is getting onto the cart. The oxen are not attached to the cart when 2-4 passengers board the cart. After passenger boarding, the driver lifts up the yoke and it is placed on the necks of the two oxen and lightly reinforced with rope. Then we were off! On the way to the village, while in the village and departing the village, children were lining the roads saying "hello," "goodbye," while some adults just offered a friendly "namaste."
Though this is a humble village with modest accommodations, there is still a real sense of community. There are shared water pumps and a shared outhouse as well as property shared by extended family. I was particularly impressed with a storage area where scores of ears of corn were stacked very neatly. The members of the community were friendly and welcoming as we made every effort not to be instrusive or insensitive.
I found this experience to confirm my belief that good people are good people wherever they may live on the planet.

I did a walking tour through the jungle in the Chitwan National Park during April, and it was a great experience, animal friendly, no elephant riding or anything like that and it was for sure the best way to experiment this magical place.
The guides were awesome, highly recommend, they knew a lot about everything in side of the park, I was feeling safe al time and with a bit of adrenaline, the perfect combination.

I do not know how to dance, but I fully enjoyed watching different types of dance performed by local Tharu People from Sauraha and the last other visitors participated in the dance. This dance will represent the culture of Tharu people from Chitwan, you must visit once if you are in Chitwan National Park.

I wanted so badly to love this place. Did I adore the baby elephants who were running around a saying hello? Absolutely. Were there even people working there who I believe truly thought they were doing right by these elephants, yes.
But a number of elephants were chained up, some even had their front feet chained together so they had no ability to move.
They also were "breaking" an elephant while we were there. The requirements for this were beyond heartbreaking to the elephant and to me.
Go at your own risk.

We went on a two day hike and stayed in a little village in the national park. Saroj was very knowledgeable and adapted the hike to what we wanted and what we could do. My partner was unfortunately ill on the second day and I was a bit ropey myself (we had been doing some work in Kathmandu where we became ill and clearly hadn't gotten over it yet) so Saroj modified the hike when it was clear I wasn't going to get far. Despite all this we have had a wonderful time, it was a very personal tour and we saw lots of wildlife. Would definitely recommend.

Sauraha art gallery is run by a local artist Ram Krishna Bhatta. You can visit the gallery to view his true love and dedication to art. He firmly believes this is what he is born for.
I came into the store having no intention of buying anything and came out with two paintings I am in love with. If it wasn't the paintings themselves that convinced me, it was the lovely man behind the desk who creates all the artwork himself,...MoreThank you alot Miller K. Camel Safari is exclusively provided by us in the heart of Chitwan National Park. You can enjoy a sunset view and a trip around the river banks and Tharu community village.
It was a nice sunny day in Kathmandu, I along with my friends descended down to Chitwan and reached Sauraha within 4 hours drive, following Trisuli with an observation of scenic beauty and rafting. Chitwan was bit hotter than in Kathmandu which always is, we used to ride on Elephant usually but this time we wanted to experience different so we got on Camel... first, I was not confident what to say and how to command such a huge tall and skinny animal... but there all are found to be well trained and took us around... it was great experiences, besides cultural dance and bird watching.
