Situated on a beautiful stretch of beach one would conjure up a menu of fresh sea food or, at least an imaginative kitchen but sadly this restaurant simply underlines the desperate plight of the KwaZulu- Natal south coast. The menu hasn't changed in the last ten years or so and neither has it improved. It's so sad that a venue with so much potential would languish in the mire of less than third world standards.
The wine list is short and restricted which is probably a fair indication of the food. Surley the line fish should be fresh but it was not and it was terrible. It's just a sad reflection of a restaurant without any aspiration so perhaps stick to the staples like curries and such but truly don't expect anything above the very basic mundane.

Bell and Anchor is a family run business. Situated on the beach front in Scottburgh the restaurant offers amazing views and safe parking. We pride ourselves in great service, fresh innovative well priced food. Pop in and give us a try. Great venue for weddings partys and conferences.
As we were down at the coast for our annual Holiday,at a self catering resort, the thought of collecting all the goodies for a Christmas Lunch, was a very daunting prospect. So we made some local inquiries to find out who served the best lunch in the area.We were told that the best was the Bell and Anchor.
We arrived to find a large restaurant, that was filling up fast, with a view of the sea. There were 7 of us ranging in age from 7-70+,and we set off to see the food on offer. We were really spoilt for choice, there were a multitude of fresh salads, cold meat and fish dishes,as well as soups, and fresh breads. For main course there was a turkey/chicken pie, which gave you all the lovely Turkey taste without the dryness, which often comes with it,as well as two other well cooked meats.Desserts ranged from traditional Christmas fare, to a range of other, delicious and fattening choices.
The Service was excellent considering the number of people, and the price at R350 was really good value, for the quality provided.
A visit to the restaurant is recommended, even if there is no Christmas pudding on offer.

We dined here twice during our week long stay in Scottburg. The atmosphere is warm and cosy and makes you feel right at home. The food was good and the staff was friendly. I can recommend the Scottburgh Special from the pizza menu for the meat lovers. We sat inside due to the cold weather but there is a deck outside from where you can see the ocean across the road. They have a few resident cats roaming the restaurant, fortunately they are well behaved.

The beach bar has the best vibe of all we visited in Scottburgh.
We stopped for a late lunch and a drink and to watch some rugby.
We ordered a basket which we selected the following:
1. riblets - Amazing! 10/10
2. Chicken wings - very good 7/10
3. Crumbed mushrooms - Very good - 8/10
4. Fried calamari - good 7/10
5. Prawns - Amazing!! 10/10
6. Chips - tasteless..... 4/10
Service was excellent.
Not too pricey.
Sea view is a bit obscured by railway lines.
All over it was a great experience and I will definitely recommend it even if it is only for the ribs and prawns!

Stopped by with a group of friends. The meals included fried fish and chips (enjoyable), garlic roll (exceptional), greek salad (average) and rump steak flambed in brandy and pepper sauce (good). The view includes the sea but is not on the beach and the restaurant surrounds are tatty. The lunch meal was pleasant but not exceptional food.

Tucked away from the Beaches but off the main coastal road the venue offers decent food in comfortable surroundings within an indigenous nursery. Hours and days of operation are limited so check before you call in. Hot tip: the home made lemon cheese cake is sublime...have some then take more home.

Had a delightful breakfast over-looking Pennington beach. Very reasonably priced menu with a good breakfast selection. Due to the holiday season the Kiosk was packed resulting in the service being a little slow.

This is one branch of a large seafood restaurant chain. The menu is predictable as is the service. Portions are large and prices reasonableDear Tim R, Thank you for your review. We look forward to welcoming you again, soon. Kind regards, John Dory's

Very disinterested staff and the food nothing special. Wouldn't go back. The nachos we ate was nothing I would right home about, thank goodness we didn't order more.

A quiet sea view restaurant situated in a golf course with spectacle food to indulge.
There is nothing like a friendly well run club house . Try the lunch menu , and in particular the traditional fish and chips . A true winner .
