Dragon Rock Reptile Centre is situated in the heart of the beautiful Drakensberg in Kwazulu Natal. We are a nature and reptile centre. We believe education is the most powerful weapon with which we can change the world around us. That is why we strive to educate people about the animals we have and animals in general. Combining the nature centre with our reptile centre we aim to send people home more aware of their environment.
Our five year old son absolutely loved his visit to the Reptile Centre where he was able to hold some of the animals and learnt all sorts of new facts about them. The guide was brilliant and he clearly loves what he does.
Book in advance as places are limited for the tours which happen at specific times.
Given the nature of the reptiles you encounter during your tour, you are not allowed to view the reptiles without a guide, so best to arrive a couple of minutes before the start of your tour as there is nowhere really to wait beforehand.
The tour lasted about 35 minutes and really was super.

My son had been looking for a book on Birds of Southern Africa. He found a reasonably priced one while browsing here. He used it to identify the Village Weavers in the trees beside the restaurant.

This nature reserve is quite dense with a few animals which we spotted like the springboks. This reserve is in a very remote area .It's along side the Spioenkop Dam.

This relatively new wine estate is situated near Winterton and is producing 3 red wines of good quality. We didn't try out the restaurant which is well laid out with views of the vineyards and the Drakensberg.

No stress no haste! Our guide led us through lovely berg paths and awesome views for a long leisurely afternoon ride. However we were over our time limit, our guide casually led us towards the way home without complaints! Awesome experience!

Whether one is interested in Museums or not would certainly have no hesitation in recommending a visit to this little gem. The varied nature of the exhibits, and information has something for "everyone", with the friendliness, and helpfulness of the staff a real bonus.

A huge amount of work must have gone into relocating this shop museum to its current situation.I was given a two sentence rundown before the person withdrew to the shade. It needs someone with an interest, and a knowledge of the history to make the museum a success. It does have potential.
