Built around 1150 with Bentheimer sandstone, this church burned out in 1492. The clock mechanism can be seen. Tours go to the top, where views over the town and environment can be enjoyed.

Are you ready for a day of relaxation go to Sare sauna. They offer 10 or 11 different sauna-types (from infra-red to earth and ham -am etc). With good weather you can sit or lie outside in the big garden. The only downside is the food. Its expensive for wat you get.

This place is a must, when you area. Within a few kilometres from the village of De Lutte, you find this large, green park. The area has various easy walking tours. (3, 5 and 6km loops I believe), that take you through woods and sandy areas with the painteresque river Dinkel running through it. The place has a camping, various nice restaurants, various recreationsl areas, etc. Recommended any time of year.

We never knew about this gem of Enschede, but the Rijksmuseum Twenthe deserves to be on your list if you love art and enjoyed the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. The museum is spacious and much of what you see is a real gift of the late Jan Herman van Heek (a succesful textile entrepreneur and his family) to the city of Enschede, the Dutch people and to visitors from all over the world. Jan Herman van Heek was born in Enschede on 20 October 1873 and died in Doetinchem on 25 January 1957. The museum is very spacious and has lots of important pieces. You will easily spend hours there. We will come back to this museum in the future.

I am a avid fan of these kind of open air museums, where local heritage is preserved and celebrated. "Openluchtmuseum Ootmarsum" is situated right next to the historic village center. Free parking is possible in a parking lot opposite the museum entrance. An entrance fee is levied. Entrance is free with the Dutch annual museum pass. On the area of the "Openluchtmuseum" a collection of heritage buildings is erected, reflecting the life in the Ootmarsum area one century ago. These building existed in Ootmarsum and the surrounding area and were pulled down carefully, to be rebuilt with loving care in this museum. A small mansion, a workers home, barns, workshops with working implements are preserved in this museum. It is a lovely museum, where time slips by while absorbing the ambiance and information. And at the back of the museum area, restaurant "De Weemhof" is eagerly waiting for you where you can sit down for coffee, cake or something more substantial. Highly recommended.

The ground floor of this museum is mostly filled with steam engines, most of which actually run at the press of a button. I've seen such engines in many places, but it is rare to see them running, and usually you cannot operate them yourself. In this museum you can. Especially the huge engine used on a boat is great. There's also some displays about textile machines. On the higher floors there are displays about radar and related technologies, about the use of chlorine, and about sustainable technologies. And much more. I think they could add sections about the most recent technological developments, such as nanotechnology.

Stopped by the Lonneker Molen (windmill) whilst on a bike ride through the Overjissel countryside today. The windmill is historical and has unique properties, such as thatching on top of a brick structure. In addition to walking around the outside it is possible to visit three floors of the four-floor windmill and walk around the upper part as well. The private tour includes demonstrations on the complete workings of the mill and can be in English. Very informative and interesting. The shop on the first floor sells stone ground grains and mixes made at the mill and from products by local farmers. Recommended.

When you want to have a lot of fun on go-karts with your group of friends, family or collegues, this is a great place to visit.
This outdoor go-kart track is fast and a great challenge to drive.
After the ride you can finish your stay with some good food and a drink.
