You might hear this garden before you see it; its delightfully eccentric owner,Anthony Hunte BCH, plays classical music throughtout the garden. this is the working end of old Castle Grant plantation, where sugar cane was once processed into syrup. Step through the gate and you'll soon tread on the old weigh bridge, where loads of cane were tallied. Just past the old stone outbuildings, where statues lurk among exotic plants, you'll find yourself on the lip of a great, hemispherical sinkhole in the limestone substrate. Steps lead down and paths branch out through an exquisite profusion of flowering plants, with towering trees around the edges. Both here and farther along the top are a series of small secret Gardens, where you can sit to absorb the serenity and enjoy a picnic. Be sure to climb the upper level steps to Mr. Hunte's house, a transformation of the old stables. He'll invite you for refreshments-including his legendary rum punch or freshly made lemonade (for sale)-on his glorious, antique studded verandah overlooking the garden. If you're lucky, he'll tell you tales, and you will surely leave with some of your own. If you're driving, follow the red and white signs that read Hunte's Gardens, from all over the island. Or, come by taxi. If you take the local bus from the Fairchild Street Bus Stand in Bridgetown it's #5 Sugar Hill Bus - Bds$2 each way.
A beautiful garden sadly not suitable for buggy’s or wheelchairs or people with walking difficulties as there are a lot of stairs and small winding pathways, but for the rest of us, an inspirational garden, I didn’t have enough time here, I suggest a minimum of 1.5 hours, more if you are keen gardener, lots of shady areas and Seating places if you want or need to take it slower,, I think there was a cafe we didn’t have time to stop,so not sure,

We spent the morning in Bridgetown and the afternoon headed for Browne's beach which is close to the centre and easy to walk to. It is a stretch of golden white sand and beautifully warm turquoise waters and the kind of beach you really want in the Caribbean. It doesn't have that classical palm tree at the back of the sand look, as it's effectively in the town, but boy is the sand really good and the waters what you'd expect. Couple this with it being relatively quiet in areas and others having plenty of beds and facilities to the back then if you only have one day in Barbados and you spend the morning sight seeing then get to Brownes Beach for the afternoon and enjoy a dip in the sea. Really hot day, even with a few clouds about, and a beach which is great for what we wanted. It won't be everyone's cup of tea in places.

During our stay in Barbados we very much wanted to visit Bottom Bay. We had been there once before, 22 years ago, and at the time we were struck by its beauty; and so we wanted to revisit it on this trip.
I remember it was difficult to find 22 years ago. That hasn’t changed.
I seem to remember on our previous visit that there was no path down to the beach, but there is now. The beach was almost deserted; there were at most eight people there. The combination of blue sky, turquoise sea, white breakers, and golden sand made for amazing photos. The waves were very rough, and I would not recommend swimming in the sea, but there were two local children playing in the waves and being bowled over by them.
We were glad that we had taken the time to re-find and visit Bottom Bay.

A wonderful collection of plants with a relaxing pond at the heart of these historic Gardens. Journey through these Gardens at your leisure and marvel at the vision of its creator, the multi-award winning Iris Bannochie (three Gold medals at the Chelsea Flower Show, Silver Crown of Merit by the Barbadian government). A plant-lovers' paradise and a unique place to visit, get married, picnic or hire for you own special event. Andromeda Botanic Gardens - sustainable, beautiful, unforgettable.
It’s such a lovely place for a walk and take in all the wonderful plants that are dedicated planted around the Gardens it has a great selection of tropical plants and is well established that you can just walk through at your leisure, there is an entrance fee but if you belong to the RHS(UK) you can enter for free, there is also a lovely cafe supplying drinks cakes and lunch menu.
All in all a lovely place and if it closes you can get out at any time.
Well worth a visit.

Enterprise Beach looks great in pictures, but it is also good for swimming.
Has more trees than most Beaches, so there is a nice amount of shade towards the back area. Bathrooms available, though not always stocked w/ toilet tissue. Chair/umbrella rental on beach. "Mr. Delicious" food truck with "Roti", fishcakes, beer etc on site. Picnic tables & outside shower available & a changing room too. Relatively calm waters overall, with some small & medium waves depending on the day. Small workout area with chin bar & parallel bars. Locals play volleyball ~4:30 Sundays if you're looking for a game. Lifeguards on duty from about 9am to 5:30

Surfers take note: this beach's consistent and sizeable waves make it a surfer's heaven and is best known for the strangely shaped rocks that stick out of the sand.
After visiting Bathsheba beach we came down to the Soup Bowl. This place is known for its Surfing, with the constant big waves rolling in across from the Atlantic. Its great to sit on the beach and watch surfers ride the waves. They do hold some local and international Surfing competitions, so you might want to ask around before you go if you want to avoid the crowds.
This is not a good place to swim as the waves are big and there is a shallow reef, plus there are strong rip-tides and undertows, that can quickly sweep you out to sea.

This beach offers spectacular views of the island, but watch out if you want to go swimming - strong undercurrents can make swimming here dangerous.
This place is beautiful but not for swimming! It also seems a bit of a drive but was included on our tour so glad we went.

We enjoyed our visit. It's in a lovely part of Barbados, surrounded by sugar cane fields. the kids enjoyed the cultural heritage museum. But the park is a little run down and the playground had too many mosquitoes. However the comfortable sitting area before the self guided tour made a nice place for the adults and our kids to relax while the grown-ups took turns touring the distillery and enjoying a tasting. The adults liked it because it did not feel like a tourist trap.
