As you drive towards Arundel you can see the castle looming over the town. It’s impressive now so goodness knows how it must have seemed in the Middle Ages.
The Gardens are beautiful with lots of events on in the summer months.
The inside of the castle is pretty amazing too. Well worth a visit.

OPENING 7th MARCH 2018 Step back in time at Amberley Museum, a remarkable heritage site in the Sussex South Downs, between Storrington and Arundel, focusing on industrial and transport history. Most days the bus service and narrow gauge railway run, which take visitors to the far end of the site where the electricity, communications and railway exhibition halls can be found. Further exhibits include the working printshop, lime kilns, road steam engines, standard gauge line, stationary engines, greenwood village and more. The Museum is home to traditional craftspeople, such as the woodturners and blacksmith, with a cafe, gift shop, playground, nature trails and picnic areas. It’s well worth a visit and there is plenty to do in all weathers. Right next to Amberley railway station, with direct trains from London, Bognor and Portsmouth (check before you travel), we have a large, free carpark. Please see our website for further information.
We visited Santa on 17th December and whilst Santa was ver good we felt the whole museum lacked in festive atmosphere. The main tree in the village square only had one string of lights and a few baubles. Where are all the lights from previous years. There was no entertainment in the square. In previous years there have been craft stalls and fairground rides but nothing on the 17th.
The children did however enjoy the museum, but we could do that in the summer when the weather is better

A great place for birdwatching.
Beautiful place tucked away on the outskirts of Arundel. Just follow Mill Road for a mile from the Castle entrance.
Discounts on the entrance ticket if you pre buy on-line. Free parking.
Well laid out with plenty to see. Amazing ducks and geese. Plenty of information boards to help with identity.
A number of hides around the wetlands to have a sit down and watch the wildlife.
A bit pricey but we thought it was money well spent. You can take a picnic and make a day of it.
There are free boat trips (in the winter every couple of hours. Wrap up warm).
Cafe for tea and cake or snacks. Shop.

Up on the Hill, overlooking the town the Cathedral makes a fine sight. Surprisingly, it only dates back to the Victorian Era although it has the feel of a much older building. With it’s tall pillars and high arches, the interior is impressive whilst the Seating capacity of 500 gives a more intimate effect at ground level. There is much to see and enjoy, the laminated guide to the features should be your starting point.

Visited the Lido today with the family. Had a nice time, the pools are reasonably clean and the life guards seem switched on without being over the top.
The grassed area around the pool is nice to chill and relax. If you want an umbrella and sun beds I would recommend getting to the Lido just before opening and queuing with the others that have the same idea - 15 minutes should be enough.
It's £7.50 for an adult so make an entire
day of it as would be expensive for a quick dip. I would also recommend bringing a packed lunch as the food selection is limited and pricey.
One recommendation is that the Lido should invest in a lawn mower that actually picks up the grass as well as cutting - all of the towels and our large blanket is now covered in straw like grass that won't come off!!!
Overall would recommend and certainly will be returning!

Great little pub which is used by locals and the beers are great. They don't serve food but you can bring food in/ meals and enjoy it whilst having a drink. I don't know of another pub that allows this.

This church is part of a structure where part is on the Arundel Castle grounds and part is the Protestant Church. The building was originally one large church but was divided into a Roman Catholic chapel which is accessible only from the castle grounds and the Anglican church which is accessible only from outside the castle. In the rear behind the alter, there is an iron gate which separates the two (the gates were last opened in 1995).
The windows of the church are beautiful and it is well worth the walk up the hill to see the church and learn its history.

We enjoyed looked round this small museum which has extremely helpful and informed staff. There is quite a lot too read on the walls, some of which is a little high, but it was worth Reading as you come away with a good knowledge of the history of the town, its industry, castle and occupants.

Gallery 57 is a contemporary art gallery showing painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, ceramics, 3D mixed media and jewellery in themed Exhibitions throughout the year.
This is a bright modern gallery space about half way along Arundel's Tarrant Street with its lively mix of pubs, restaurants, antique shops and which this festival Saturday was more bustling than usual. Live music including an a quintet of glamorous grannies and some pretty...MoreI’m sorry you didn’t enjoy the exhibits in the gallery. I do tend to have a subtle taste in colour but sometimes there are more colourful paintings on display and I hope you’ll give us another chance.
