We went for a Sunday roast and I have to say it was the BEST roast I've ever tasted fantastic meat lovely large bowl of vegetables and extra gravy ! The puddings were equally as awesome. The only downside were the staff they has young staff which weren't v attentive one of them brought my other half the wrong wine shame as otherwise would be 5 star all the way

The George & Dragon in Houghton is a busy and beautiful old coaching inn situated in the South Downs National Park. We are a family run pub that is passionate about good food, service and above all ensuring the customer has the best experience possible.
Passed this pub often en route to Bognor Regis, but never stopped to sample its delights. Friends had booked a table for lunch here just before New Year. Despite being in middle of nowhere, booking ahead looks a necessity judging from how full it was.
Ample parking, a cosy, old-style interior, attentive and welcoming staff, and an attractive menu to cater for most tastes all made us feel quickly at home.
My pate starter followed by a trencherman's sized smoked fish platter -- which included trout, salmon, prawns, salad & potatoes -- were both delicious, but too much for me. All of us had something different, but with unanimous approval.
This pub is on a major walkers' route, so do be prepared to accept dogs.
Looking forward already to returning in warmer weather to sit outside with a drink and a meal enjoying a fabulous view of English countryside.

Ground floor Osteria open all day for Musetti coffee, homemade pastries lunches and fully stocked bar of over 60 wines and 20 grappa all available to sample by the glass. First floor traditional Italian Ristorante with intimate atmosphere and delicious homemade measls and desserts. Booking essential at the weekend.
We were looking for a place to grab a coffee and on walking past had seen people inside drinking we decided to go in. On entering it seemed quite tight inside but there were a number of seats to be had , we squeezed into a couple in the window and our drinks were delivered to us. As I say there were other places but you'd have had to share on the one big table in the front, further tables at the rear, I would say if you intended eating lunch or dinner it would be wise to book!!
So yes great coffee and an iced bun , menus looked inviting we'll have to come back and give it try.

This used to be really good, not so pleased with it anymore. I am not disappointed if I stick to crispy duck and a simple starter. I am not too keen on anything else anymore, real shame.

Whether you're after a quiet drink with friends or a meal with the family, The Swan is perfect for you. Our modern styled bar is open all day 'til 11pm (later on Fridays and Saturdays, and for hotel guests), serving superb cocktails, outstanding Fuller's and Gales ales, a great range of spirits and wines, as well as soft drinks for the family. Don't forget to bring the dog too, as our bar is very pet friendly! Our restaurant serves up a great selection of pub favorites with a great deal of locally sourced produce being used, and our chefs use their creative flair with delicious daily changing specials! Food is served 12-9pm Monday to Thursday, 12-9.30pm on Fridays & Saturdays and 12-8pm on Sundays. Booking recommended.
This place used to be packed lunchtimes, haven’t been in for 12 months and was surprised how empty it was, the beer was great, the starters where overcooked on the rarebit, tasty and plentiful. The squid was also tasty but the mayo smear was bigger than the 5 small rings of squid. The main course sausage and mash was tasty the mash cooked beautifully, however the sausages where cooked but looked very insipid with no colour on them at all. Good pub food but Gastro is not what we had offered to us on our plates.

I visited this restaurant with my husband and two adult children and daughter in law. We tried to find somewhere in Arundel to have lunch at 2.30 nearly everywhere was closed. This restaurant was open. <br>The Seating was not very comfortable and to be honest it did not smell very nice, but we had already ordered our drink so it was difficult to leave! I had asked for sausages and mash (but asked if the mash was made with butter - the bar person enquired and came back and said that it was made yesterday and the person who made it was not in! so he could not say! I had chips instead. So I had sausages and chips with runner beans which were cold. The sausage were not at all hot but we waited quite a while and so I did not complain. My son and daughter in law had steak and it was full of grissle and they brought the most horrible looking large mushrooms swimming in oil which dripped over the table. My daughter had a very indifferent hamburger, We felt the whole experience was bad and a waste of money I would never go there again!!!
We called in for just a couple of drinks.
The staff were friendly and the service was swift.
A decent range of beers available on tap.
We did not dine here but those that were eating meals appeared to be enjoying their meals.
The pub had a pleasant atmosphere.
Nothing to dislike here.

we had the set lunch menu which was very tasty, spicy garlic bread and mussels and cooked beautifully. Pleasant staff and the atmosphere was very nice as was the décor. My only tiny gripe was the spotlessly clean toilets had a basin that soaked my jeans due to it being thigh level and no working hand dryer(ladies and mens actually) but it didn't spoil our lunch.

A welcome smile and greeting was enough to know we had made the right choice for a light lunch after leaving the busy town of Arundel.
The service and food were excellent from a good selection lunch menu.
We will look forward to returning for a main meal in the near future.
