In winter, the warm atmosphere of the restaurant created by Engadin wooden furniture and in the summer the garden and Terrace outside combined with a menu based on products at km 0 or imported directly from Italy, have helped make Restaurant 1865 one of the most popular and successful of the Upper Engadine. Every day we commit ourselves to a selection of raw materials that are cooked according to the authentic tradition Engadine but with a touch of Italian flair in order to enjoy one of the finest dining experiences in the valley. Our pizzas, cooked in a wood oven, are made exclusively with organic flour and high-quality products because they always keep their taste more real and genuine and make the best of the entire Engadine .. The Restaurant 1865 is open daily for dinner.
We were 2 couples staying at the Hotel Bernina 1865 to catch the Glacier Express to Zermatt the next morning. We had salads and 2 types of cheese fondue. The fondues were very good but like food everywhere in Switzerland, it was pricy. The wine was very good also. So was the service.

We are great fans of La Padella in Samedan. We think Frau Rita is such a great server and she really makes the experience even more worth while. The food is traditional Grissons food and very well prepared. The restaurant is tastefully decorated.
The sabayon is made at your table and is one of the best I have ever had.
Very much recommended.

On arrival the check in was friendly and efficient and I was given an up grade a better view apparently. The view was spectacular and there was a nice balcony although it was not the time of the year to enjoy it. My room was very comfortable with out being grand - pine furniture and white sheets. There were nice extra touches such as a plate of fruit, a rubber duck and a ruck sack you could borrow if you needed. The bed was super soft, however as with most places in Switzerland ever thing has a tendency to be over heated. The bath was big decoration was a little tired in the bath room. There was a fair selection of toiletries but not great my biggest bug bear ,no hair conditioner which it a nightmare for anyone with long hair especially after swimming. The pool however was the best thing about this hotel it is absolutely lovely, big enough to swim lengths and a view of the Mountains. There was no shampoo or soap in the pool shower when I went in the morning. The breakfast has a nice selection, lovely rustic breads, home made jam, a selection of nice cheese, lovely choice of tea and even juicers where you can squeeze oranges or carrot juice. On departure I was presented with a bill even though I had prepaid the room which was a bit lax how ever after checking an apology was made for the error

This is a great place for an regular meal while traveling. They have a pretty varied selection, from pizzas to typical meat courses, the prices and portions are reasonable, and the food was well prepared from fresh ingredients. It's not a destination restaurant, but it was our favorite meal in Samedan. It is the only restaurant here I would go back to.
You do need to have enough German to decipher the menu, as there is no English version and our waitress spoke no English either. But if you have a German food app or book you should be fine.
It appears to be mainly a place where locals would go for an ordinary meal.

Our gourmet restaurant Kronenstübli, which has been awarded 16 Gault Millau points, is well-favoured among Epicureans. In this Swiss pine parlour, we serve masterpieces of Italian-Mediterranean and French cooking. The chef’s specialty is Canard à la Presse.
This was our third visit at the Kronenstubli. As always, we had dinner in a refined and relaxing atmosphere, transmitting the charming character of this lovely alpine area. The menu reflected the flavours of the season, showing a careful balance between traditional Engadin dishes and more international choices. Given that it was our third visit, we were positively surprised to have the opportunity of tasting again something new. All the dishes were excellent, as well as their presentation - the lobster soup was no doubt one of the highlights of the evening! Service met the highest standards and we did really appreciate the caring - but at the same time always discrete - attitude of all staff. Overall it was definitely a great experience and we would definitely recommend this restaurant if you are visiting Engadin.

Restorant Uondas Home aged Engadine “madüra” meat from the lava stone grill, homemade “Flammekuchen” from the wood fired stove, genuine Grison pasta dishes and the vanilla soft ice cream, prepared with our secret recipe, create culinary waves.
We went to Restaurant Uondas for a special occasion meal. The waitress did a great job of explaining the dishes with the local produce on offer including the amazing aged meat. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals. It's a treat eat, not a family value option. (Our 13 year old didn't appreciate it as much as we did.)

The warm cosiness of old wood, the refined atmosphere that makes St. Moritz the epitome of Alpine charm, and authentic dishes that will dazzle even the most jaded foodie: a meal at Chesa Veglia is a truly unique experience, an absolute must-do while holidaying in Engadin, and a feast for all the senses. Chesa Veglia is Romansh for »old house«, but this time-honoured restaurant is actually much more than that. A historic farmhouse in the pulsing heart of St. Moritz, this beautiful building is as rich in atmosphere as it’s in history. It’s quite impossible to walk through its door without being instantly beguiled by its allure, be it the infectious laughter coming from the bar and the sound of bartenders mixing cocktails, the welcoming Alpine scents of ancient pine and the look and friendly feel of the wooden furnishings and vintage cutlery, or the sense of luxury permeating the air. The ingredients for a perfect night are all there, and all you have to do is sit back and enjoy. In 1936, Chesa Veglia was transformed by Badrutt’s Palace Hotel into an avant-garde meeting place for budding epicureans, the forefathers of today’s foodies. Since then, its irresistible atmosphere has attracted locals as well as tourists, not to mention VIPs such as Elizabeth Taylor and her entourage. To this day, Chesa Veglia is popular with the young, hip jet-set crowd fond of holidaying in St. Moritz, not just because of its unique ambience, but also thanks to its excellent food. When it comes to food, it’s hard, if not impossible, to beat the incredible variety offered at Chesa Veglia. The establishment boasts three different restaurants and two bars, all unique and resplendent in their own way, guaranteeing that everyone’ll find just what they’re looking for. Take the Patrizier Stuben for instance, stunning and elegant with its rustic Engadin decor: prepare to enjoy revisiting regional favourites, concocted by a chef who ensures that the fresh local ingredients used fulfil their potential and more. Traditional dishes with an incredible new spin grace the menu, side by side with other favourites such as caviar, foie gras and vegetarian specialities. The Pizzeria Heuboden, meanwhile, is all about Italian cuisine and, more specifically, pizza plays the starring role, as you might expect, prepared authentically in a wood-fired oven. If the idea of ordering pizza in the heart of the Alps doesn’t appeal to you, think again: here, you’ll bite into a crust that will definitely make a lasting impression. Most decadent of them all is the famous »Dama Bianca«, a white grande dame of a pizza, prepared with tasty taleggio, delicate buffalo mozzarella, pungent Parmesan and topped with generous shavings of truffle. At Grill Chadafo, open only during the winter season, delicious grill specialities await: the roasted Bresse chicken with rosemary is the restaurant’s signature dish and leaves even the most exhausted epicure lost for words. And while Chesa Veglia is famous chiefly for its food, there’s yet one more reason to pay it a visit. Before or after dining, two bars – the Polo Bar all year round and Bar Carigiet in the winter – invite guests to unwind, relax and enjoy an aperitif, a cocktail, a beer or a glass of wine. This is where memories are made, where guests soak up the incredible atmosphere and interior and linger for a little more fun before returning to the peace and quiet of their rooms in Badrutt’s Palace Hotel.

The Pitschna Scena is the vibrant meeting point for a colourful mixture of people. The rusty bar counter in the centre of the character-crammed locale was created by well-known Swiss artist Luginbühl. The place where hotel guests and local people get together for Scena burgers, tagliata or Alpine macaroni. The relaxed atmosphere in the rustic locale is an invitation to lean back and linger. The regular Thursday Concerts with blues, rock, pop, funk and jazz ensure a party mood and are famous far beyond the valley.
Menu is a mix of burgers (including a very good pulled pork sandwich), regional dishes, pasta and a few Asian dishes. Several rooms, quaint and cozy, young service team that are friendly and welcoming. Prices are high (compared to neighbouring countries) as everywhere in Switzerland, but reasonable for the region.

When you're the only person in the place who doesn't speak German, you know this is not a tourist place. The food was great. The service top notch.

The funicular railway ride up at the lower cost rate after 6 in the evening ( 15 SFr return ) started an evening dinner to remember . The highlight was the magnificent views over the Upper Engadine lakes and Mountains . The restaurant had reserved a lovely view facing table for our group of 6 . The food was excellent , from anise bouche to starters to mains , with a comprehensive wine list and sweets to turn the head . the service was efficient , especially the friendly lady to who greeted us and kept an eye on how we were doing all evening . Overall this was outstanding in every way . However it will not be a regular visit for us because of the price which is at the higher end of ( expensive ) Swiss restaurant prices ( with little wine around SFr 80 pp ) . For a special treat this comes highly recommended . Don't go in cloudy weather though as the view is a main attraction .
