Port Moody is a city in Metro Vancouver, enveloping the east end of Burrard Inlet in British Columbia, Canada. Port Moody is the smallest of the Tri-Cities, bordered by Coquitlam on the east and south, and Burnaby on the west. The villages of Belcarra and Anmore, along with the rugged Coast Mountains, lie to the northwest and north respectively. It is named for Richard Moody, the first Lieutenant-Governor of the Colony of British Columbia.

I had visited Vancouver almost 20 times but eastward I had never ventured beyond Burnaby. This time I visited a friend living in Coquitlam, not by taking the Transcanada freeway but by the Barnet Highway (7A) along the shoreline, and hitting Port Moody's Rocky Point Park before Coquitlam. This is still a saltwater shoreline park where we had fish n chips and relaxed with overlooking the inlet's quaint houses on the opposite side.

When the signs are up warning people there are bears in the forest do not go there, nice and varied paths you can actually get lost in if you do not follow the signs, one of the lakes has turtles to watch

Here is a map of the 25 km. trail. - great for walking or bike riding
This is a wonderful walking/cycling trail, connects to many other trails, so the trip can be as long as you like it, with many convenient places to park. Good surface even when it rains - and being in BC's Lower Mainland, in "normal" winter, biking is fine 12 months of the year!

I love walking around the lake, it's beautiful, peaceful, love the Fountain in the center. The Christmas lighting display is fabulous, I have enjoyed wonderful afternoons there with entertainment. You can fish, walk around the lake, picnic in the summer there are events such as Music on the Grill, catered buffet outdoors, entertainment indoors in this lovely setting on summer evenings.

Beautiful beach and waters await you at white pine beach. Great day trip for families couples or singles to enjoy the relatively warm water sandy beach and scenic views. Not far from the centre if port moody and very accessible. Plenty of parking there but wise to get there early as parking does fill up. Concession stand to satisfy your hunger and thirst. Children will love the sandy beach to build sand Castles. Great way to spend a sunny day.

This was the first time my friend and I had every used a gun. I looking for something different for us to do and came across DVC. A beautiful park just a twenty-minute drive away from downtown; offers scenic views, picnic areas and hiking trails.
Burnaby Mountain Park is a focal point East of Vancouver. Enjoy the vistas from Vancouver Island to Downtown and Stanley Park, to Indian Arm and Deep Cove. Perfect for family outings, special occasions, photo sessions and hiking. Nice trails, great dining, Nature at its best: Vancouver-esque mix of water and Mountains views. It is a great park to visit in any season.

Good for a dog on leash walk of about 1.2 km on a bark mulch path around the lake. Many spots to rest in shade and/or on many memorial benches and picnic tables. Never crowded. Watch but please DO NOT FEED the geese and ducks. Small kids enjoy the neat playground there while old codgers like me enjoy seeing the young families.

As with the other microbreweries in Port Moody, they only tend to cater to those who like bitter, sour or very hoppy tasting beer...It is a shame, as it alienates the rest of us, who don't like those tastes at all...They used to have really good beer when they opened up, but the quality is going down the hoppy and bitter slope I am afraid...

This used to be a fully operational farm that operated by the Forensic Facility on site. There are many areas to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. There are lots of opportunities to see local wildlife including deer, bear, coyotes and lots of waterfowl.
