I really don't get the high ratings of all the Indian Beaches. Must be from people who have never been anywhere else. The beach is ok, not special, but littered with garbage. 4 small beach restaurants, with reasonable prices, but you can't get a beer on this beach. Definitely not worth the 300 rupees for a tuk tuk each way from Allepey

Thiruvizha Sree Mahadevar Temple is one of the ancient temples in Kerala. The temple was consecrated by Swamy Vilwamangalam. This temple of Lord Kalakandha (Lord Siva who swallowed poison during Palazhimadhanam)is very famous for purifying the devotees by making them vomit out the poisonous elements eaten by them, using certain indigenous medicines.

The best points are the expanse of soft sand and the magical sunsets out at sea. But the water's edge rapidly slopes down and in February whilst the sea was very warm like a bath the strong current and big waves made access difficult. Not really for children and weak swimmers.
The beach is public and vast. Great for dawn and sunset walks. We didn't see many people there and only a few were swimming. Some hotels have a lifeguard on duty but don't bank on it.

This temple has Lord Siva in two different forms in the same campus itself. The deity on the left of you is in the form of Kiratha moorthi , which as per myth is swayam bhoo, while the on the right is in Sivalinga form.
The Sivalinga form seems to be more powerful as the Balikall infront of it huge to avoid direct line of sight outside

There was nothing on when we visited, though there is a lovely peaceful feel about this place. The main festival is in February and I hope to return sometime to see that as I’ve heard it is spectacular.

This lighthouse was lovely, and for a small sum of money we walked right to the top to see the fantastic views over the sea and also over the town of Alappuzha. It is near to lovely sandy Beaches, and a great walk along a very long harbour wall where we watched all the small fishing boats going out to sea.

Nothing very special. Mostly collections of a rich German lady married to an Indian. The entry fee of Rs 150 is very high for this. May be they want to restrict entry to select people. Old Travancore paddy cultivation items and storage cabin is also in display. Photographs no allowed.

Overall a beautiful experience. The serene atmosphere was very fulfilling. Many devotees come here to get their hopes fulfilled. The premises is very well maintained and well done up One improvement that can be taken up is provision of clean wash rooms for the devotees.
