Experience the very best of nature, wildlife, history and local slowfood Fjord Norway has to offer! The RIB boat tour will show you the Unesco listed Nærøyfjord up close and personal. The hike goes from the fjord to the goatfarm Leim (360m amsl) with breathtaking views along the way. Enjoy a tasty local lunch based on goat produce and a tour of this traditional farm. Car back to Flam.
Far beyond expectations, from Mountains, fjords and rushing along the waterway to experience fully the beauty of Norway. Nothing can compare to the magnificence exposed before your eyes permeating your very soul. Well traveled as I am, this was on my bucket list which I would be thrilled to experience every month of the year.

We chose this route instead of the longest tunnel (24 km) under the mountain. So glad we chose this fabulous picturesque drive! High up the mountain on narrow curving roads across amazing scenery- some very stark in its beauty. There was still some snow in places even in late August. Gorgeous views! Stegastein lookout is only one of the highlights of this drive.
Definitely worth the drive! Highly recommend!

Flam is a spectacular location. From the moment you exit the tunnel, the scenery is spectacular. At the foot of the Fijord is the beach at Flam. Njord is conveniently located on the beach, easy to get to by car or train. Fredrika and Grace took us out in double kayaks. The trip is not too challenging, but far enough to get you perspective out in the Fijord. I think we would have like to go father up the Fijord but that would be a different trip. The guides give you a little local history lesson along the way to add a little color. It is a great way to actively get out in the middle of a Fijord without just sitting in a boat with a bunch of tourists. All the gear is provided to stay warm and dry, regardless of the weather and the boats are in good condition. All you need for a nice day on the Fijord.

This viewpoint is well worth a stop, with its impressive views over the fjord and stomach dropping plunge to the village of Aurland. On site there are also brand new and well kept toilets. It's very windy because it is so exposed so bring warm clothes.

The waterfall can be seen from the cruise dock. The trail follows the road and then turns sharply up the mountain. The portions of the steep trail to the waterfall was wet and muddy and caution is needed. The knoll about 2/3 way up is the best viewpoint althought the trail does go on. It is a quiet place with an outstanding view of the fiord. The entire trip of about 4 kilometers takes 2-3 hours at an easy pace. It can easily fit into a day with other activities.

Our bus stopped here (like every single other bus) so we could take photos, buy souvenirs and enjoy a quick break. The waterfall was pretty spectacular and could possibly have been a true highlight on the day's excursion.

This cruise is worth it because the fjord is so narrow and it gives an insight into how isolated some of the settlements are. Wear something warm because it can get very cold in the darker parts.

The best way to see the fjord landscape is from above! This excursion brings you through the favourite hiking terrain among the locals, 1000 meters above the famous Sognefjorden. The path twists along the edge of the mountain in an altitude there are no trees growing, which means that you are able to watch miles of spectacular scenery around you during most of the trip. We walk up the mountainside as far as you are comfortable with, before returning down through a short distance of coniferous forest. The hiking trip ends by the viewpoint at Stegastein. Tickets may be purchased in combination with a sightseeing bus ride, or seperately if you have your own transport.
The hike took me almost 3 hours return, quite badly marked path. First hour pretty easy, then it gets quite steepy and rocky. Hardest parts around the woods when the terrain gets sleepery and muddy. Was well worth the trek, amazing view at the top. Recommended to do in a group!

The world's most beautiful train journey. The train journey shows some of Norway's best landscape. In the course of approximately 2 hours, you'll experience lush fjord landscapes, steep Mountains, spectacular Waterfalls and snow-covered Mountains. A journey you'll never forget.
We travelled on the Flam railway as part of our Norway in a Nutshell tour from Oslo to Bergen. We travelled in winter and there were not that many tourists but apparently this changes dramatically in the warmer months. The train makes a couple of stops for photos during the trip from Myrdal to Flam and the train itself is packed with character. The scenery is stunning (at least in winter it is) as the train slowly winds its way down into the valley and to Flam. A worthwhile experience.

Starting at Gudvangen and ending officially at Beitelen where it meets Aurlandsfjord, Naeroyfjord is approximately eighteen kilometres long and named after the Norse god Njord (god of the sea, and of seafarers). Essentially, it's a branch of the massive Sognefjord but certainly one of the most beautiful and best enjoyed from a cruise or on a hiking trail. No less than a quarter-kilometre wide at its narrowest point, and about a kilometre at its widest, the dramatic views of the fjord are enhanced by the Mountains on either side that rise to about 1400 metres in height. And with stunning vistas and small picturesque villages along most of its length, visitors should have no difficulty understanding why, along with Geiranger Fjord, Naeroyfjord has been inscribed on UNESCO's list of World Heritage Sites.
