Shopping is plentiful in Bridgetown. The capital of Barbados offers duty-free shopping at cruise ship terminals and upscale boutiques on Broad Street. Additional activities include yachting, fishing, viewing cricket matches and the nightlife on Baxter's Road. For history, visit the Barbados Museum, National Heroes Square (formerly Trafalgar Square) and the oldest Jewish synagogue in the western hemisphere, as well as the house where George Washington stayed and the church he attended.

Dread Or Dead surf shop is a Surfing technical and funtional fashion retail store. We offer surf lessons, tours and board hire/rental through our surf school Surf In Barbados as well as SUP lessons, tours and hire/rental through our SUP shop SUP In Barbados.
If you are looking for a great way to spend a few hours, keep the kids both young and old busy and to learn how to surf safely Dread or Dead is perfect. Russell, Terry and the instructors didn’t waste a minute running through the basics then getting us out there to ride some waves. Compared to previous surf excursions ( we have done this as a family more than 3 times - 5 kids age 14 to 24 but also saw 6 year olds getting up ) this one was very tame on a beautiful south coast beech. The instructors stayed with the group for the full duration of 2 hours and were very informative and provided great guidance. We loved it and would recommend these guys for their great gear, tremendous patience and eye on safety. Thanks for a great day guys!!!

A nineteen year-old George Washington spent two months at this house, making Barbados the only foreign nation Washington ever visited.
Really interesting tour of house with introductory film about George Washington and his brother. The guide was so informative and entertaining.

We’re an established family business of 40 years, with 5 super gift shops on the island. We pride ourselves in providing our customers with distinctive merchandise that is made or designed in Barbados — and a happy shopping environment with a warm, friendly Bajan smile. You can also find Best of Barbados Gift Shops at: Chattel Village, Holetown; Southern Palms Hotel, St. Lawrence Gap, Christ Church Airport Departure Lounge, Grantley Adams International The Cruise Terminal, Bridgetown
This is such a lovely shop to spend and hour or two looking at very good quality souvenirs. The local artist Jill Walker and family have many paintings and articles from local crafts people. Supports local artists and so know that anything bought goes back into the Barbados economy. There are many other Best of Barbados shops around the island - all excellent.

We spent the morning in Bridgetown and the afternoon headed for Browne's beach which is close to the centre and easy to walk to. It is a stretch of golden white sand and beautifully warm turquoise waters and the kind of beach you really want in the Caribbean. It doesn't have that classical palm tree at the back of the sand look, as it's effectively in the town, but boy is the sand really good and the waters what you'd expect. Couple this with it being relatively quiet in areas and others having plenty of beds and facilities to the back then if you only have one day in Barbados and you spend the morning sight seeing then get to Brownes Beach for the afternoon and enjoy a dip in the sea. Really hot day, even with a few clouds about, and a beach which is great for what we wanted. It won't be everyone's cup of tea in places.

Once again we visited the South Coast Boardwalk for our daily walk during our month stay in Hastings didn't see the usual group cleaning the boardwalk this year, so there was a build up of sand around Hastings Rock that was only cleared once in our stay, one new outside restaurant opened up along the boardwalk, only real issue was the sewage problem at Tapas and Magic Isle, even with this we will be back to walk the mile long boardwalk next year

This has always been our favourite beach however this year we find it deteriorating
The Industrial size garbage bin is over flowing and has not been picked up in weeks
When asked we were told nobody is paying the bills
Bus loads of tourists arrive with the shower facility closed
Not too far away by the board walk they are allowing raw sewage to enter the beautiful ocean
So Sad
Clean up needs to happen now

Oldest Jewish Synagogue in the Western hemisphere, dating back to 1654.
Renovated Synagogue from 1654 is a must see. It was beautiful to see, but go during the day time, to especially see the unique Cemetery.
