We came here for lunch after Reading the good reviews on TA. The garden was nice and the neighbourhood calm and quiet. You order and pay at the outdoor counter, get a number on your receipt, take cutlery yourself from a small shed, and the staff bring the food to your table calling out your number. We had one chèvre salad, which contained lentils, lettuce, tomatoes, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, bread croutons and chèvre. It was quite good, although we did not get any bottles of oil and vinegar to our table. We also had one prawn Sandwich, with prawns, egg, mayonnaise, lettuce, onion and a piece of tomato on sourdough bread, and it was also quite good.
As we liked this place, we went back the next day for coffee and waffles. You could have your waffles either with only cream and jam or also add ice-cream. We chose to add ice-cream and had expected it to be placed on the waffles on the plate. However the staff forgot ice-cream, so we had to queue again at the counter to get the ice-cream, meaning that the waffles got cold, and then we only got the ice-cream in cups instead of on the waffles. The staff also forgot to bring the bottle of water that we had ordered, so we had to ask again for that too. Anyway the waffle was quite good.

The Brig Pub and Restaurant Vastervik is a cool hangout, overlooking the water in the Swedish summer town of Vastervik on the east coast.
Great pub food, including the best ribs in Sweden. Very reasonable prices and friendly, easygoing staff.
Also, the Brig Pub has live music on occaision and a DJ playing on Sunday nights in the summer season.
A great experience and Swedish/American owner Joe is great behind the bar.
4/5 stars for this place.

This is the best restaurant in Västervik. No matter how often we visit, the food impresses us every single time. It is renowned for its meat and fish dishes, but their vegetarian dishes are to die for. Other reviewers commented on the lack of vegetarian options, but now they offer the best vegetarian meals I have ever had in a restaurant. Whatever your taste, do not miss this restaurant when you visit Västervik. I recommend that you always book your table beforehand.

Until the location in Tripadvisor has been corrected - please note that Restaurant Sjökanten really is located on the island of Hasselö, not in the city of Västervik
Open around June-August for lunch and dinner. Take ferry from either Västervik or Loftahammar (cash only) to Hasselö.
2,5Km from ferry-point to Restaurant Sjökanten (walk or rent bike at ferry-point).
Charming little place with view over the sea. Outdoor Seating - so choose a sunny day.
Lunch buffet is 160,-SEK. and includes Several kinds of fish, salads, charcuterie, bread, dips, cheeses, fruit, coffee, sweats and lemonade. You can add beer or wine if you like.
All is very tasteful and definitely worth the price and the trip there.
Sitting and eating that wonderful food at the seaside was absolutely a vacation highlight.
Highly re-commendable. A perfect way to combine Swedish skeargaard experience with excellent food.
They also have an evening menu, but then you need to either arrive with own boat or use one of the accommodation possibilities on Hasselö.

Very nice café in the center of Västervik. It looked to be very popular with locals. A good place to go for lunch or just for a coffee-break (what the Swedish call "fika"). Seatings both inside and in a very cosy inner yard.
One entrance for the inner yard and one for the café. You order and get your food/drink at the counter in the café. Wide selection of Sandwich (mackor) and salads, with shrimps, salmon, chicken, salami etc. They come in all sizes - the one in the picture is at the upper range. A shrimp-baguette for 79,-SEK, and it was definitely a whole lunch-meal. Very good value for money. It was a hard choice because the salads looked really delicious. Very good quality shrimp, but the bread could have been a bit more fresh. Coffee, soda, wine, beer etc. Available to drink.
The atmosphere in the café was very nice and service was both quick, friendly and efficient. Because it was summer we were "sharing" the inner yard with quite a few sparrows. So if you're alone, you should not leave food on the table to go inside and pick up something.

Olaf could not have been more welcoming and the environment more beautiful, looking out onto the sunlit harbour. An outstanding selection of real ales including the Gotland Bryggeri Klosteröl wheat beer & Mariestads unfiltered lager. The staff are happy and great fun. Food portions were good and well presented with flair. The Veal, Rack of Lamb and Biff Hotel Rydberg (cubed fillet Beef with Roast potatoes) all noteworthy. Top stuff!

Very, very disappointing..Rude and RACIST staff.. Shame of you! I'll not recommended at all.. Restaurant is not only about food it's more about the way, how you treat others..

The perch is to die for. The salmon is not far behind. The setting is perfect and the family/staff are a pleasure. The nearby cows/bulls, the rabbits in the cage and the chickens that run free just add to the atmosphere of archipelagic idyll.
But, don't forget the food !
